  • The direct thrust control of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor using digital signal processor (DSP) is presented. The motor self inductance, the initial flux linkage by the permanent magnet is calculated in advance by the finite element analysis. The equivalent circuit method and the digital signal processor are used for the simulation and experiment, respectively. The simulation and experimental results such as, thrust, current and speed responses to the commands are examined.

  • Internet provides the useful method to monitor the current states of the machine tool no matter where a personnel is monitoring them. In this paper, a monitoring method of the torque of the machine tool's spindle induction motor using internet is suggested. The torque of vector controlled induction motor is estimated without speed measuring sensor. Only stator currents are measured to estimate the magnetizing current which is used to calculate flux linkage, rotor velocity and motor torque. Graphical programming is used to implement the suggested algorithm, to monitor the torque of an induction motor in real time and to make the estimated torque monitored on client computers. To solve the fluctuation problem of estimated torque caused from instantly varying rotating speed of an induction motor, the rotating speed is reconstructed based on the measured current signals. Mechanical part of the machine tool is also reconstructed using the data obtained from preliminary experiments. Torque of the spindle induction motor is well monitored on the client computers with 3% error range under various cutting conditions.

  • An adaptive input-output linearization technique for a robust speed control of a brushless C(BLDC) motor is presented. By using this technique, the nonlinear moro model can be effectively linearized in Brunovski canonical form, an the desired speed dynamics can be obtained based on the linearized model. This control technique, however, gives an undesirable output performance under the mismatch of the system parameters and load conditions caused by the incomplete linearization. for the robust output response, the controller parameters will be estimated by a model reference adaptive technique where the disturbance torque and flux linkage are estimated. The adaptation laws are derived by the Popov's hyperstability theory nd positivity concept. The proposed control scheme is implemented on a BLDC motor using the software of DSP TMS320C30 and the effectiveness is verified through the comparative simualtions and experiments.

  • This paper represent improved On-line Turn off, commutation Angle control schemes for switched reluctance motors based on current control. For the purpose of the finding optimal commutation switching angle point, it is utilized turn on and turn off position calculation with inductance vs. current vs. flux linkage analysis method. The goal of proposed paper is the maximization of the energy conversion per stroke and maximizing efficiency and obtaining approximately flat-topped current waveform. The proposed control scheme is demonstrated on a simulation experimental result.

  • A variety of Generation III/III+ water-cooled reactor designs featuring enhanced safety and improved economics are being proposed by nuclear power industries around the world in efforts to solve the future energy supply shortfall. Thermal-hydraulics is recognized as a key scientific subject in the development of innovative reactor systems. Phase change by boiling and condensation in the reverse process is a highly efficient heat transport mechanism that accommodates large heat fluxes with relatively small driving temperature differences. This mode of heat transfer is encountered in a wide spectrum of nuclear systems,and thus it is necessary to determine the thermal limit of water-cooled nuclear energy conversion in terms of economic and safety. Such applications are being advanced with the introduction of new technologies such as nanotechnology. Here, we investigated newly-introduced nanotechnologies relevant to boiling and condensation in general engineering applications. We also evaluated the potential linkage between such new advancements and nuclear applications in terms of advanced nuclear thermal-hydraulics.

  • This paper centers on a method which can reduce calculating time and maintain accuracy of whole model FE analysis with one pole model for short secondary Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM). We use one pole model which considers the number of pole of stator and mover respectively in order to replace whole model to one pole model and calculate flux linkage and back e.m.f. with accuracy. Also we verify the validity of proposed method with comparision of results of whole and one pole model.

  • This paper presents a method of detecting rotor position for single phase Switched Reluctance Motors(SRMs) using searchs coil. In the single phase SRM, mainly Hall effect sensors or photo interrupters have been used to detect the rotor position. But these sensors cause high cost and increase the volume of the motor, Furthermore when the motor is used in very hostile environment like high temperature or pressure, its reliability goes down. In this paper, low cost and robust characteristics of rotor position detection method are focused in order to compensate for disadvantage of existing sensors. Search coils wound around the stator pole are used for detection of the rotor position in single phase SRM. Rotor position detection is achieved through electromotive force patterns induced by time-varying flux linkage in the search coil. The validity of the method is verified by experimental results.

  • This paper describes the direct thrust control of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) with the secondary aluminium sheet. The time stepped finite element method and moving mesh technique are used for simulating dynamic characteristics of the PMLSM. The secondary back-iron conductivity as well as the initial flux linkage due to permanent magnet are considered in the simulation.

  • This paper presents a direct thrust control scheme for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) by using digital signal processor(DSP). And a simulation method for the direct thrust control of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor using the equivalent circuit is presented. The detent force that was obtained by cubic spline method is considered in the simulation. Thrust correction coefficient is utilized to estimate actual thrust on the direct thrust control, which considers the longitudinal end effect due to the finite core length of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. The motor self inductance, the initial flux linkage by the permanent magnet is calculated in advance by the finite element analysis, and then the direct control simulation is carried out. As the results, thrust, current and speed are shwon.
