Pneumatic system is widely applied in various industry because it have a many advantage(low cost, high safety, etc..). For design of pneumatic system, accurate flow measurement is required. In this study, compressible fluid flow measurement apparatus was designed and built. It uses an isothermal chamber that can approximate isothermal condition. Therefore, it can be measured for flow-rate using pressure response of isothermal chamber. As a result, this apparatus can be measured for sonic conductance and critical pressure ratio of pneumatic components and it required less time and energy than conventional flow meter. The effectiveness of the designed apparatus is proved by experimental result.

The fluid induced vibration (FIV) phenomena of an equivalent airfoil system of MAV have been investigated in low Reynolds number flow region. Unsteady flows with viscosity are computed using two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The present fluid/structure interaction analysis is based on one of the most accurate computational approach with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) techniques. The highly nonlinear fluid/structure interaction phenomena due to severe flow separations have been analyzed for the low Reynolds region that has a dominancy of flow viscosity. The effects of Reynolds number and initial angle of attack on the fluid/structure coupled vibration instability are shown and the qualitative trend of FIV phenomenon is investigated.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in dentinal permeability after application of dentin desensitizer on exposed dentin immediately after ultrasonic scaling to teeth with non-carious cervical lesions. Thirty caries-free extracted molars were fixed to slide glasses after horizontally being sectioned at 5 mm below the cemento- enamel junction (CEJ). The prepared specimen was connected to a fluid flow measuring device (nano-Flow), and a V-shaped cavity was formed at the CEJ to imitate the non-carious cervical lesion. After no fluid leakage was confirmed in the connected system with specimen, tooth surface was treated ultrasonic cleaning with piezoelectric ultrasonic scalers until dentinal tubules were exposed. And 6 different desensitizers were applied on exposed dentin. Real-time measurements of dentinal fluid flow were performed during ultrasonic scaling and application of dentin desensitizer. To evaluate the occlusion of exposed dentinal tubules, tooth surface was examined by SEM. Following results were observed. After ultrasonic scaling, more dentinal tubules were exposed on the tooth with non-carious cervical lesions compared to tooth without lesions. The rate of fluid flow measured with nano-Flow system had correlation with the degree of dentin occlusion observed with SEM after application of desensitizers on exposed dentin. Desensitizers with glutaraldehyde and HEMA did not decrease the rate of fluid flow and did not show dentin occlusion. Desensitizers with oxalate showed the limited effects on the rate of fluid flow and dentinal tubule occlusion. Desensitizer with resin monomer showed the significant effect on the rate of fluid flow and dentin occlusion.

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, we investigated three-dimensional fluid flow field and particle movement with respect to the injected gas flow rate variation in typical cyclone separator system. The results of numerical investigation were deduced by coupling the analysis of fluid flow field with Wavier-stokes equation and the tracking of the particle trajectory with Langrangian approach. It was shown that the increasing of injected gas flow rate resulted in the increasing of pressure loss in the separator. This change of inner pressure had an effect on an aspect of the fluid flow in the separator. Particle movement was determined by fluid flow in the separator and was fully depended on a diameter of particles under the fixed flow rate. Increasing of injected gas flow rate was led to an increasing of the trace of particle, so the particles moved to the lower part of the separator. For this reason, the minimum diameters of the particles were decreased and increased the separation rate under the fixed particle diameter. In conclusion, the changes of injected gas flow rate have an important factor to the fluctuation of the fluid flow field and particle trajectory in the separator.

This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of MR impact damper for vehicle collision system. Various types of mechanism have been proposed for reduce transmitted force to vehicle chassis and finally protect occupants from injury. In the case of frontal collision, the bumper make main role of isolation material for collision attenuation. In this study, proposed bumper system composed of MR impact damper and structures. The MR impact damper is to adopted MR fluid which has reversible properties with applied magnetic field. MR fluid operates under flow mode with Bingham flow and bellows is used for generation of fluid flow. Mathematical model of MR impact damper incorporated with MR fluid is established. Field dependent damping force is investigated with time and frequency domain. The MR impact damper is then incorporated with vehicle crash system. The governing equation of motion of vehicle model is formulated considering occupant model. Dynamic characteristics of vehicle collision system investigated with computer simulation.
A fluid transient analysis for the propellant flow in a monopropellant propulsion system is conducted using the method of characteristics (MOC). Algebraic simultaneous equations method and Clamor's rule method utilized to drive the compatible and characteristic equations are reviewed to understand MOC more extensively. The identification of fluid transient phenomena of propulsion system of Koreasat 1 is carried out through parametric studies. Also this work describes the reason that the propulsion system of Koreasat 1 has no orifice to control flow transients or to limit the initial hydrazine flow rate for the first-pulse firing.
A fluid transient analysis for the propellant flow in a monopropellant propulsion system is conducted by using the method of characteristics(MOC). It reviews algebraic simultaneous equations method and Cramer's rule method utilized to drive the compatible and characteristic equations to understand MOC extensively. The identification of fluid transient phenomena of propulsion system of Koreasat 1 is carried out through parametric studies. The valve response time is one of the dominant parameters governing the fluid transient phenomena. The results show that the shorter closing time induces the greater pressure response amplitude. And it shows that the installation of in-line orifice is effectively to limit the fluid transients in rapid valve response time and at high pressure. But it seems that the effect of orifice weakens at slow valve response time and at low pressures.
The two-dimensional incompressible flow of a linear viscoelastic fluid we considered in this research has rapidly oscillating initial conditions which contain both the large scale and small scale information. In order to grasp this double-scale phenomenon of the complex flow, a multiscale analysis method is developed based on the mathematical homogenization theory. For the incompressible flow of a linear viscoelastic Maxwell fluid, a well-posed multiscale system, including averaged equations and cell problems, is derived by employing the appropriate multiple scale asymptotic expansions to approximate the velocity, pressure and stress fields. And then, this multiscale system is solved numerically using the pseudospectral algorithm based on a time-splitting semi-implicit influence matrix method. The comparisons between the multiscale solutions and the direct numerical simulations demonstrate that the multiscale model not only captures large scale features accurately, but also reflects kinetic interactions between the large and small scale of the incompressible flow of a linear viscoelastic fluid.
Interfacial pressure jump terms based on the physics of phasic interface and bubble dynamics are introduced into the momentum equations of the two-fluid model for bubbly flow. The pressure discontinuity across the phasic interface due to the surface tension force is expressed as the function of fluid bulk moduli and bubble radius. The consequence is that we obtain from the system of equations the real eigenvalues representing the void-fraction propagation speed and the pressure wave speed in terms of the bubble diameter. Inversely, we obtain an analytic closure relation for the radius of bubbles in the bubbly flow by using the kinematic wave speed given empirically in the literature. It is remarkable to see that the present mechanistic model using this practical bubble radius can indeed represent both the mathematical well-posedness and the physical wave speeds in the bubbly flow.
To investigate the natural frequencies of curved piping systems with various elbow angles conveying flow fluid, a simulation is performed considering Initial tension due to the inside fluid. The system is analyzed by finite element method utilizing straight beam element. Elbow part is meshed using 4 elements, and the initial tension is considered by inserting equivalent terms into the stiffness matrix. Without considering the initial tension, the system becomes unstable, that is, the fundamental natural frequency approaches to zero value fast, as the flow velocity reaches critical value. With the initial tension terms, the system becomes stable where there is no abrupt decrease of the fundamental natural frequency. The change rate of the natural frequency with respect to the flow velocity reduces. As elbow angle increases, the system becomes stiffer, then around 150 degrees of the elbow angle the natural frequency has the largest value, the value decreases after the angle of the largest natural frequency. When angle is between 170 degrees and 179 degrees, the natural frequency is very sensitive. This means that small change of angle results in great change of natural frequency, which is expected to be utilized in the control of the natural frequency of the piping system conveying flow fluid.
