Numerical analysis of the three dimensional turbulent flow field in a complex valve shape is carried out to confirm the flow field whether the designed valve shape is good or not. The simulation of the incompressible flow in a constant flowrate control valve is performed by using the commercial code, FLUENT/UNS 6.0. The results of flow field show the designed valve has some problems, therefore these will be good data for new valve design.
This paper presents the result of numerical simulation of particles trace following melted zinc movement with nitrogen gas injection. The code of the computational fluid dynamics for numerical analysis was performed using FLUENT related to CFD. As application model, there was applied Eulerian multiphase model for simulation of melted zinc movement at first and then was used stochastic tracking technique for particles trace secondarily. Numerical simulation results are shown that particles move to the same direction as the movement of melted zinc.
Aerodynamic analysis of an airfoil in the transonic region was automated in order to enable parametric study by using the journal file of the commercial analysis code FLUENT, pre/post process Gambit and computational mathematics code MATLAB. The automated capability was illustrated via NACA 0012 and RAE 2822 airfoils. This analysis was carried out at Mach numbers ranged from 0.70 to 0.80, angles of attack; 1$^{\circ}$, 2$^{\circ}$ and 4$^{\circ}$, Reynolds numbers; 4.0${\times}$106, 6.5${\times}$106. The analysis results of a pressure coefficient were verified by comparing with the experimental data which were measured in terms of chord length because the pressure coefficient of an airfoil surface is a good estimator of flow characteristics. The results of two airfoils show that this analysis code is useful enough to be used in the design optimization of airfoil.
In this paper, the coupling of fine-mesh computational fluid dynamics (CFD) thermal-hydraulics (TH) code and neutronics code is achieved using the Ansys Fluent User Defined Function (UDF) for code development, including parallel meshing mapping, data computation, and data transfer. Also, some CFD schemes are designed for mesh mapping and data transfer to guarantee physical conservation in the coupling computation. Because there is no rigorous research that gives robust guidance on the various CFD schemes that must be obtained before the fine-mesh coupling computation, this work presents a quantitative analysis of the CFD meshing and mapping schemes to improve the accuracy of the value and location of key physical prediction. Furthermore, the effect of the sub-pin scale coupling computation is also studied. It is observed that even the pin-resolved coupling computation can also create a large deviation in the maximum value and spatial locations, which also proves the significance of the research on mesh mapping and data transfer for CFD code in a coupling computation.

This paper presents the computational aerodynamic analysis of a long-endurance UAV that was developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), named EAV-2. EAV-2 is a technical demonstrator of aerodynamically efficient design, as well as a hybrid electric-propulsion system for future long-endurance UAVs. We evaluated the aerodynamic characteristics of six low-Reynolds number airfoils, using a panel method code, XFOIL, to select an optimal airfoil for the long-endurance mission of EAV-2. The computational results by a CFD code, FLUENT, suggested that the aerodynamic performance of EAV-2 would be notably improved after adopting SG6043 airfoil, and modifying the fuselage design. This reduced the total drag by 43%, compared to that of a previous KARI model, EAV-1, at the target lift of $C_L=1.0$. Also, we achieved a drag reduction of approximately 14% by means of the low-drag fuselage configuration.
A numerical investigation was performed to determine the effect of airfoil on the optimum flap height using NACA 00XX and 44XX airfoils. The six flaps which have 0.5% chord height difference were selected. A Navier-Stokes code, FLUENT, was used to calculate the flow field of the airfoil. The code was first tested as a benchmark by modelling flow around a NACA 4412 airfoil. Predictions of local pressure coefficients are found to be in good agreement with the result of the experimental result. For every NACA 00XX and 44XX airfoil, flap heights ranging from 0.0% to 2.5% chord were changed by 0.5% chord interval and their effects were also studied. Representative results from each case are presented graphically and discussed. It is concluded that this initial approach gives an idea for the future development of the wind turbine optimum design.

For the optimal design of plasma facing components of a fusion reactor, thorough understanding of thermal behavior of high heat. nux components are required. The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of heat flow and thermal stress in divertors which are exposed to high heat load varing with time and space-Numerical simulations of heat now and thermal stress for three types of diverter are performed using finite volume method and finite element method. Respectly, commercial FLUENT code are used in the heat flow simulation, and maximum surface temperature, temperature distribution and cooling rate are calculated. Commercial ABQUS code are used for calculating temperature distribution. thermal stress, strain and displacement. Through this computer simulation. design data for cooling system and Structural provided.
We used In-line orifice mixer for efficient chemicals mixing in water treatment. The method of using In-line orifice mixer has been already proved the improvement of water treatment efficiency. Code of computational fluid dynamics for numerical analysis was performed using FLUENT, a commercial code. As variable for exactly standardizing, a proper ratio between an outer diameter of deflector and a diameter of pipe, the distance between deflector and orifice, a determination of orifice diameter fur an optimal mixing, a distance between injection nozzle's position and cone, Numerical study has been performed for optimal standard and analyzed flow field on a basis of turbulent intensity in an orifice downstream.
In this study, a cross-flow fan system used in indoor unit of the split-type air conditioner is analyzed by computational simulation. A commercial CFD code - Fluent - is used to calculate the performance and its unsteady flow characteristics. The unsteady incompressible Wavier-Stokes equations are solved using a sliding mesh technique on the interface between rotating fan region and the outside. The acoustic pressure is calculated by using Ffowcs-Williams and Hawkings equation. (omitted)
