Air and flue gas temperature distributions in the space heater for greenhouse were measured to develop a thermal design technology for the space heater. Also, the characteristics of the fan supplying air to the space heater were investigated. The temperature of the flue gas inside the flue gas tube was linearly decreased as the lenght of than those of the flue gas with the oxygen concentration of 8.25% at the last exit of the second flue gas tube. Thus, the operating efficiency of the space heater could be increased with low air ratio decreased exhausting gas temperature and saved the energy consumption with decreased excess air flow. The temperature of the air supplied by fan was increased slowly around the first flue gas tube, meanwhile, increased sharply around the second flue gas tube due to large LMTD (Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference) at the first flue gas tube than which of the second flue gas tube.
By the experiment of a model Ondol heating system gas flow characteristics in a briquette flue tube was investigated. As a heat source electric heater was used, which renders steady flow condition of air. working fluid. It was observed that the flow augumentation may be obtained by increasing the vertial elevation of the flue tube, namely increase in the tube length or increase in the tube inclination, and the gas temperature at the tube entrance Among several factors which augument the flow rate slope of the flue tube has the most striking effect and then the temperature of gas entering the tube. Increase in length of the tube also auguments the flow but the rate of augumentation is so small that it gives little assistance to improvement of the flow The flow in a briguette flue gas does not essentially satisfy the one dimensional steady flow assumption. It is also observed that the flow begins to accompany irregular velocity fluctuation as inclination of the tube increases.
A numerical solution for heat transfer in the flue tube of a pulse combustion water heater was presented. The $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model was adopted to describe turbulent characteristics and radiative heat transfer was calculated by P-N approximation. Three pulsating conditions equivalent to existing experimental studies were used for analysis. Pulsating pressure was specified at the inlet and outlet of flue tube and numerical procedure using control volume method and pressure boundary condition was presented. It was found that the present mathematical model and numerical method could predict effectively the flow field and heat transfer for the flue tube in pulse combustor.
Radiant tube heaters are widely used for indirect heating in heat treatment processes such as continuous annealing line(CAL) or continuous galvanizing line(CGL). Main issues for radiant tube are temperature uniformity, lifetime, thermal efficiency. To achieve higher heat release, the radiant tubes are fired at a higher fuel rate and therefore local overheating occur. A numerical simulation based on a commercial code FLUENT has been performed to investigate local overheating of radiant tube heaters. To minimize local overheating, the effects of radiating fins, flue gas recirculation(FGR), two-stage combustion were investigated. More uniform temperature distribution was achieved in the longitudinal direction within the tube with radiating fins and this contributed to increase the life of radiant tubes. Furthermore, the radiant tube with radiating fins was proven to be more efficient than the one without fins. The effects of flue gas recirculation and two stage combustion on the efficiency of the radiant tube were also considered and the results were presented.
Most of the fossil power plants firing lower grade coals are challenged with maintaining good combustion conditions while maximizing generation and minimizing emissions. In many cases significant derate, availability losses and increase in unburned carbon levels can be attributed to poor combustion conditions as a result of poorly controlled local fuel and air distribution within the boiler furnace. The poor combustion conditions are directly related to the gas flow deviation in upper furnace and convection tube-bank but a less reported issue related to in large-scale oppose wall fired boilers. In order to develop a on-line combustion monitoring system and suggest an alternative heat flux estimation method at tube bank, which is very useful information for boiler design tool and blower optimizing system, field test was conducted at operating power boiler. During the field test the exhaust gases' temperature and tube metal temperature were monitored by using a spatially distributed sensors grid which located in the boiler's high temperature vestibule region. At these locations. the flue gas flow is still significantly stratified, and air in-leakage is minimal which enables tracing of poor combustion zones to specific burners and over-fire air ports. Test results showed that the flue gas monitoring method is more proper than metal temperature distribution monitoring for real time combustion monitoring because tube metal temp. distribution monitoring method is related to so many variables such as flue gas, internal flow unbalance, spray etc., Heat flux estimation at the tube bank with flue gas temp. and metal temp. data can be alternative method when tube drilling type sensor can't able to use.
In this study, the computer simulation for the heat transfer in pulse combustion water heater is performed. The attention is focused to the effects of the installation of corebuster in the flue tube on heat transfer. The energy equations are established for both wall and gas side in the combustion chamber, flue way, exhaust chamber and muffler, and the numerical calculation is executed. Zone method takes longer computer calculation time compared with semi-zone method. Semi-zone method is chosen for numerical calculation. As a result of this study, it is found that the installation of the core buster in flue tube increases total heat transfer. It is also found that the total heat transfer is increased with the increasing of the ratio of the cross section area of corebuster to that of the flue tube. However, the heat transfer effect is negligible for the area ratio above 0.5.
Boiler is a hazardous equipment to have potential explosion ail the time. And not only it has malfunction at explosion. it lead to people death but also secondary accident such as explosion and fire. Therefore, this equipment should not be broken for keeping its own function. And also, high level of safety should be kept in the process of the use not to be malfunctioned. A large scale of accident due to boiler explosion can be preventive in advance. Boiler fracture is occurred by instant expansion (approximately 1700 time) from quick evaporation of rater in boiler, due to pressure decrease in boiler Emitting energy from it is tremendous and it is so dangerous because of its high temperature. Secondary explosion such as fire is also a main hazard occurring at fuel supply place. If any devices with high pressure is broken, then not only boiler vessel but also components of it are spread with high speed, causing secondary accident. This study is to analyze integrally accident cause of fire and flue tube boiler to have occurred pressure fracture actually, to show countermeasures to prevent accident loss from the fire and flue tube boiler.
A simulation program using the mass transfer correlation was constructed to analyze 1-D simplified condensing flow across the tube bank. Higher efficiency was anticipated by reducing the flue gas temperature down below the dew point where the water vapor in the flue gas is condensed at the surface of the heat exchanger; that is, the heat transfer by the latent heat is added to that by the sensible heat. Thus, there can be an optimum operating condition to maximize the heat recovery from the flue gas. The temperature rises of the flue gas and the cooling water between the inlet and the outlet of the tube bank were compared with the experimental data reported previously. The predicted results agree well with the experimental data. Using this simulation program, the parametric studies have been conducted fur various operating conditions, such as the velocities and temperatures of the vapor/gas mixture and the cooling water, the number of the rows, and the conductivity of the wall material.
Corrosion failure in the convection part of peak load boiler (PLB) of the district heating system led to water leakage. Herein, Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS) inspection was employed to examine wall thinning and the cause of leakage in the flue tube. The corrosive products of the turbulator and tube were investigated using scanning electron microscope combined with energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and inductively coupled plasma (ICP). Majority of the serious corrosion damage was observed near the turbulator located in the upper flue tube. ICP analysis of the boiler water revealed oxide formation of sodium chloride in the lower end part of the flue tube. A cross-sectional view of the turbulator revealed the presence of double-layers of the oxide film, indicating environmental change during operation associated with water leakage. The outer surface of the turbulator consisted of the acid oxides such as $NO_x$ and $SO_x$ along with sodium and chloride ions. Dew-point corrosion is hypothesized as the main cause for the formation of acid oxides in the region of contact of the flue tube and the turbulator.

In the present study, an experiment was conducted to investigate the heat and mass transfer performance of heat exchangers used in the condensing gas boiler. Two types of spiral circular fin-tube heat exchangers and a plain tube were tested in the flue gas of propane and dry air. Heat and mass transfer coefficients were measured and compared with the previous correlations. The experimental data for the sensible heat transfer of the plain tube reasonably agreed with the previous correlations for dry air and flue gas. However, the mass transfer coefficient of the plain tube was greater than the previous correlations. The pH, $NO_x$, and $SO_x$ data of condensate were provided.
