유속과 유동교란인자에 의한 전자식 및 초음파식 유량계의 오차특성 연구 (A Study on Error Characteristic of Flow Disturbance and Velocity for Electromagnetic and Ultrasonic Flowmeters)

  • In this study, the effect of flow disturbance such as contraction, expansion pipe and velocity deviation from low velocity of $0.1\;^m/s$ to $2.5\;^m/s$ on the error characteristics of the flowmeter was studied. Flow experiments using flowmeter calibration facility of K-water were undertaken for the cases of ultrasonic flowmeter based on transit-time method and electromagnetic flowmeter. Experimental results are presented that measurement error of expansion pipe are larger than contraction pipe. It is shown that the minimum straight length were required to remain of ${\pm}0.5%$ error for electromagnetic flowmeter and ${\pm}2.0%$ error for ultrasonic flowmeter.

저유속 영역에서 대구경 전자기유량계의 오차특성 연구 (A Study on Error Characteristics of Large Size Electromagnetic Flowmeter in the Range of Low Velocity)

  • The large size electromagnetic flowmeter was tested to investigate the variation of its error characteristics in the range of low velocity under 0.6 m/s using flowmeter calibration system. For the two case of valve opening rate 100 % and 50 %, these tests were undertaken three times each for twelve velocity condition from $0.05\;^m/s\;to\;0.6\;^m/s$ with increment of $0.05\;^m/s$. It is shown that error characteristic of electromagnetic flowmeter was stabilized within ${\pm}0.4%$ of rate both higher than $0.25^m/s$ of velocity condition and 50 % of valve opening position. But, measurement deviation of flowmeter for ${\Phi}400mm\;and\;{\Phi}600mm$ was out of expected deviation range. It is necessary to correction with calibration. In conclusion, error characteristic of electromagnetic flowmeter wasn't changed proportion to its size.

  • Five-path ultrasonic flowmeters (200 and 300 mm diameters) were tested to obtain it's characteristics in a water flow standard system. A five-path ultrasonic flowmeter was installed after various pipe fittings (elbow, valve, tee) or a pump. The distance between flow disturbance source and a flowmeter was main experimental parameter. Without a flow conditioner, a five-path ultrasonic flowmeter shows good characteristics as the distance between flow disturbance source and a flowmeter is longer than 10 diameter of a flowmeter.

Numerical analysis of the venturi flowmeter in the liquid lead-bismuth eutectic circuit after long-term operation

  • The liquid Lead-bismuth eutectic is used as the coolant for Gen-IV reactor concepts. However, due to its strong corrosive and high operating temperature, it is difficult to accurately measure the flow rate in long-term operating conditions. Venturi flowmeter is a simple structured flowmeter, which plays a very important role in the flow measurement of high-temperature liquid metals, especially since the existing flowmeters are difficult to be competent. It has the advantages of easy maintenance and stable operation. Therefore, it is necessary to study the operating conditions of the venturi flowmeter under high-temperature conditions. This work performs a series of simulations of the fluid-solid interaction between the flow liquid metal and venturi flowmeter with COMSOL software, including the dimensional sensitivity analysis of the venturi flowmeter to explore the most suitable structure and parameters for liquid heavy metal, the sensitivity analysis of the geometric parameters of the venturi tube on the varying conditions. It shows that when the contraction angle of the venturi flowmeter is 33°, the diffusion angle is 13°, the diameter of the throat is 8 mm, and the temperature of the lead-bismuth eutectic is 733.15 K, it is most suitable for the measurement in the lead-bismuth circuit.

초음파 가스 유량계 개발과 활용 (Development and Application of an Ultrasonic Gas Flowmeter)

  • 제철공정에서 발생하는 열악한 환경의 가스를 계측하기 위해서 개발한 초음파 가스 유량계와 현장 적용 결과에 대해서 기술한다. 개발된 초음파 유량계는 제철공정에 생산되는 부생가스인 LDG, COG, BFG 등의 활용에 적합하도록 개발했다. 그리고 본 초음파 유량계는 초음파 전달시간차 방식을 채택하고 있다. 전달 시간차 방식의 초음파 유량계를 구현하기 위한 초음파 신호의 송수신 알고리즘 및 초음파 신호처리 알고리즘을 개발했다. 유량계의 성능을 검증하기 위해서 대용량 유량 검 교정 장치를 자체 제작하여 유량계 검 교정 실험을 행했고 Venturi Type의 기준유량계와 비교실험을 통해서 측정오차를 평가했다. 실제 제철공정에 1년 이상의 적용 테스터를 통해 초음파 유량계의 신뢰성을 확인했으며 현재 상업화 모델이 개발되어 현장에서 활용 중에 있다.

  • 유량계는 일반 가정용 수도 계량기에서부터 석유ㆍ화학 등의 산업에 이르기까지 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 특히 무선 자동 유량계의 개발이 절실히 요구되어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 제작과 구현이 간편한 컨트롤러인 PICBASIC을 이용하여 치차식 무선 자동 유량계를 제안하였다. 실험을 위하여 300미터 이내의 근거리 통신이 가능한 무선칩을 사용하여 무선 자동 유량 계측이 됨을 확인하였다.

  • A five path ultrasonic and/or magnetic flowmeter were installed after valve. Five path ultrasonic flowmeter were tested to obtain it's performance in a water flow standard system and magnetic flowmeter. It's varied with straight pipe length(nD), install direction and valve position. All the results are summerized. The multi-path flowmeters(MUF) showed up to $\pm0.5{\%}$ at a 2, 4, 8, 15D spacing : the MUF was significantly better than magnetic flowmeter at disturbed flow conditions.

고주파 삼각파 여자법을 사용한 실시간 슬러그 유동 측정용 전자기유량계 (A Real-Time Measurement of Slug Flow Using Electromagnetic Flowmeter with High frequency Triangular Excitation)

  • In order to investigate the characteristics of two-phase slug flow, an electromagnetic flowmeter with 240Hz triangular AC excitation was designed and manufactured. The signals and noise from the flowmeter were obtained, and analyzed in comparison with the observations with a high speed CCD camera. The uncertainty of the flowmeter under single-phase flow was $\pm$ 2.24% in real-time. For two-phase slug flow, electromagnetic flowmeter provided real-time simultaneous measurements of the mean film velocity around Taylor bubble and the relative location and the length of the bubble. Besides, it is an easier and cheaper method for measuring mean film velocity than others such as photochromic dye activation method or particle image velocimetry.

  • In this paper, we describe study on the development or multi-path ultrasonic gas flowmeter using a transit time method. This system includes 5 pairs of ultrasonic transducers. ultrasonic signal processing unit using switch matrix method, computation algorithm of gas flow rate, spool piece type multi-path pipe unit. We have developed enhanced type of main ultrasonic signal processing unit using switch matrix method fer multi-path ultrasonic gas flowmeter. Also, we have developed the new transmitting & receiving method of ultrasonic waves and the new signal processing algorithm for the computation of ultrasonic transit time from received ultrasonic waves. In this study, we have designed more compact signal processing unit compared with the conventional hardware system of multi-path ultrasonic gas flowmeter. We have confirmed its reliability for multi-path ultrasonic gas flowmeter through the laboratory test using calibration system. In the future. we will perform the field test for the developed system in the POSCO gas line.

  • Ultrasonic flowmeters have more advantages than the conventional method using pressure-difference. In these reasons, many advanced nations are already selling the commercial model. In RIST, we have been developed ultrasonic gas flow meter for the localization since a project was been contracted with POSCO in 1997. This paper describes a new ultrasonic gas flowmeter. This ultrasonic gas flowmeter is developed for accurate measurement of gases in a harsh environmental conditions. It is especially suited for measuring LDG, COG, BFG gases produced in iron & steel making process. In this study, we had developed the commercial model about the first tested model and applied a completed system to the POSCO gas line. Its performance has already well been proven by extensive field tests for several months in POSCO, iron & steel making company.
