  • Zinc oxide of hexagonal wurzite, is known as n-type semiconductor. It has a wide band gap energy of 3.37 eV and large exciton binding energy of 60 meV. It can be widely applied to gas sensors, laser diodes, dye-sensitized solar cells and degradation of dye waste. The use of microwave hydrothermal synthesis brings a rapid reaction rate, high yield, and energy saving. Amine additives control the different particle shapes because of the chelate effect and formation of hydroxide ion. In this study, zinc nitrate hexahydrate was used as zinc precursor. In addition, ethanolamine, ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, and hexamethylenetetramine are used as shape control agent. The pH value was controlled as 11 by NaOH. The shapes of zinc oxide are star-like, rod, flower-like, and circular cone. In order to analyze physical, chemical, and optical properties of ZnO with diverse amine additives, we used XRD, SEM, EDS, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and PL spectroscopy.

  • This study was conducted to find out the commercial in vitro propagation methods through protocom-like bodies (PLB) induced from shoot tip culture of Miltonia spp. Among several culture media for induction PLB from shoot tip in Miltonia spp., MS basal medium was better than Hyponex, Vacin & Went basal medium and other media supplemented with natural additives. PLB's proliferation and differentiation in Hyponex medium including $20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ banana + $20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose(pH 5.2) was better than in MS medium. It was tendency that solid media showed higher PLB fresh weight than liquid medium or other cotton bridge culture. The dark culture for 1~2 weeks and adding $10{\sim}20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose on hyponex basal medium was the most effective to increase the PLBs growth and shoot number.

  • Nowadays, trivalent rare-earth ($RE^{3+}$) ions activated metal oxides have been proved to be excellent host materials due to their various applications. Facile wet-chemical technique have been considered as the best synthetic route due its intensive interest in the preparation of nanostructures. Europium ion doped lanthanum hydroxide ($La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$) phosphors were synthesized by the facile wet chemical method using the hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) as a mediated surfactant. The thermal behavior for the $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors was investigated by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis method. The morphological studies were measured by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope measurements, indicating three-dimensional (3D) flower-like $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ nanorod bundles. After subsequent annealing process, the lanthanum oxide ($La_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$) phosphor exhibited similar kind of morphology. The synthesized $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ and $La_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Furthermore, photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence properties were studied in details.

  • In this study, cobalt oxide ($Co_3O_4$)/graphene composites were synthesized through a simple chemical method at various calcination temperatures. We controlled the crystallinity, particle size and morphology of cobalt oxide on graphene materials by changing the annealing temperatures (200, 300, $400^{\circ}C$). The nanostructured $Co_3O_4$/graphene hybrid materials were studied to measure the electrochemical performance through cyclic voltammetry. The $Co_3O_4$/graphene sample obtained at $200^{\circ}C$ showed the highest capacitance of 396 $Fg^{-1}$ at 5 $mVs^{-1}$. The morphological structures of composites were also examined by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Annealing $Co_3O_4$/graphene samples in air at different temperatures significantly changed the morphology of the composites. The flower-like cobalt oxides with higher crystallinity and larger particle size were generated on graphene according to the increase of calcination temperature. A TEM analysis of the composites at $200^{\circ}C$ revealed that nanoscale $Co_3O_4$ (~7 nm) particles were deposited on the surface of the graphene. The improved electrochemical performance was attributed to a combination effect of graphene and pseudocapacitive effect of $Co_3O_4$.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the formative beauty of metro sexual expressed on the 21C men's fashion. in 21C, metro sexual is being accepted as an object to lead the world consumption culture, and it is said to be most appropriate to the definition as a model that can determine the most modern men. Moreover, with well being life style, it shows characteristic that expresses chic sense through fashion. The results of the study were as below. 1. In recent men's wear, sensory feminine that looks young and trendy is being presented through clothes, rather than the image of men who are strong. Therefore, by wearing splendid flower print, bold color and gorgeous accessories, men send off their attractions. 2. The recent body king syndrome gave new aesthetic value on men's body. Therefore, men's body is becoming cultural icon of metro sexual as another face that shows social status and cultural taste. 3. The men's image of metro sexual that is felt from softer skin and hair than women, and well-built body is appealing more through body conscious look. Here, men's body silhouette is being sublimated aesthetically through design with various materials such as see-through and leather etc., and this is body conscious image that can be seen only in metro sexual. Like this, metro sexual fashion sense was expressed by feminine softness sometimes, and beautiful body silhouette sometimes by expressing one's sexiness enough, being away' from conceptual masculine. Therefore, the appearance of metro sexual can be understood that men's body exposure is becoming a social virtue that expresses beauty.

  • This study aimed to create a new costume design suitable for publicizing our traditional patterns in the world by using the traditional patterns of Northeast Asia region. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, China is characterized by a strictly fixed configuration and a realistic description, Japan a simplistic modality and an abstract-geometrical pattern, and Korea a eclectic type, whole-pattern, and part-pattern. This study aimed to make the pattern by using harmoniously these characters. Second, Korea, China, and japan have many similarities concerning a symbolism and a type of pattern. In the modern fashion, they often use dragon patterns, various flower patterns like peony, plum blossom, or mum, and geometrical patterns. This study focused on expressing patterns which contain the ornamental symbolism of Oriental Look, aside from an existing symbolism, and show a traditional sentiment of Northeast Asia. The method for expressing traditional patterns usually included weaving, dyeing, embroidery, or gold foil. Although these methods have been used in all the three nations, even rubbed metal foil and patchwork have been widely used in Japan.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the various kinds of recipes of deer and roe deer through classical cookbooks written from 1670 to 1943. The recipes of deer and roe deer are found 31 times in the literature written in classical Chinese from 1715 to the mid-l8th century, which can be classified six groups. Their records are less than other recipes such as beef, chicken, pork, lamb, and dog, but the deer recipe is recorded frequently as four times as the roe deer one The deer were cooked and preserved by the following six ways like large-size drying, drying, boiling, soup, roasting, and gruel, while three ones such as boiling, roasting, and drying were applied to the roe deer. However, there is little difference in recipes between deer and roe deer. In case of deer, boiling and drying were the most popular ones with the frequency of 28%. But the recipes of the roe deer, boiling, roasting, and drying are recorded with the same frequency of 33.3%. The recipes were introduced from China, and had many characteristics different from other kinds of meat, of which most process reflected the mordern cooking scientific aspect. The main ingredients were flesh meat, tail, and tongue and horn was used with uniqueness. Salt, vinegar, oil soy sauce, and the white part of the green onion were used as main seasonings. Alcohol, chuncho, sesame flower powder, and cinnamon powder are frequently added.

  • This study describes a phytoplasmal disease occurring in Petunia leaves grown in the glasshouse of the National Horticultural Research Institute, Suwon, Korea. Abnormal growth like flattened stem with flower malformation or phyllody was observed from the plant. The DNA extracted from the diseased leaves was amplified using a universal primer pair of P1/P6 derived from the conserved 16S rRNA gene of Mollicutes giving the expected polymerase chain reaction(PCR) product of 1.5 kb. In the nested PCR assays, the expected DNA fragment of 1.1 kb was amplified with the specific primer pair R16F1/R16R1 that was designed on the basis of aster yellows(AY) phytoplasma 16S rDNA sequences. The 1.1 kb PCR products were cloned and nucleotide sequences were determined, and the sequences of the cloned 168 rRNA gene were deposited in the GenBank database under the accession no. of EU267779. Analysis of the homology percent of the 168 rDNA of PFS-K showed the closest relationship with Hydrangea phyllody phytoplasma(AY265215), Brassica napus phytoplasma(EU123466) and AY phytoplasma CHRY(AY180956). Phytoplasma isolated from the diseased Petunia was designated as Petunia flat stem phytoplasma Korean isolate(PFS-K) in this study. Flattened stem occurring in Petunia was confirmed as infection of AY group of phytoplasma by determination of 16S rRNA gene sequences of phytoplasma and microscopic observation of phytoplasma bodies. This is the first report on the phytoplasmal disease in Petunia in Korea.
