  • Water quality in Daechung Lake was predicted for various discharge conditions of Yongdam dam. The same scenarios were applied as in the previous paper by the authors for Keum River water quality modeling. Effects in water quality due to changes in discharge conditions from Yongdam Dam were less distinct to the Daechung Lake than to the inflowing Keum River due to sink processes in the lake. For the minimum flow year, it is appropriate to maintain Yongdam dam discharge rate to 8.9 $m^3$/sec considering the current field conditions and future predictions of TN and TP concentrations of Yongdam dam. Effect of Yongdam dam discharge conditions to the Daechung Lake water quality were stronger for drier years. However it should be noted that the effects were dependent upon the water quality of Yongdam discharge at the same time. Therefore, water quality management effort should be emphasized before the discussion over the discharge volume of Yongdam dam. The input data sets for simulations in this study were formulated using the available data and assumptions based on authors experiences for the fields. Therefore, continued data collection effort will ensure the validity of this study.

  • In this study, the coastal urban flood prediction and warning system based on HEC-RAS and SWMM were investigated to evaluate a watershed of On-Cheon stream in Busan which has characteristics of costal area cased by flooding of coastal urban areas. The basis of this study is a selection of various geological data from the numerical map that is a watershed of On-Cheon stream and computation of hydrologic GIS data. Thiessen method was used for analyzing of rainfall on the On-Cheon stream and 6th regression equation, which is Huff's Type II was time-distribution of rainfall. To evaluate the deployment of flood prediction and warning system, risk depth was used on the 3 selected areas. To find the threshold runoff for hydraulic analysis of stream, HEC-RAS was used and flood depth and threshold runoff was considered with the effect of tidal water level. To estimate urban flash flood trigger rainfall, PCSWMM 2002 was introduced for hydrologic analysis. Consequently, not only were the criteria of coastal urban flood prediction and warning system decided on the watershed of On-Cheon stream, but also the deployment flow charts of flood prediction and warning system and operation system was evaluated. This study indicates the criteria of flood prediction and warning system on the coastal areas and modeling methods with application of ArcView GIS, HEC-RAS and SWMM on the basin. For the future, flood prediction and warning system should be considered and developed to various basin cases to reduce natural flood disasters in coastal urban area.

  • MOCVD TiN films were prepared from a new TiN precursor, tetrakis(etylmethylamino)titanium (TEMAT) and ammonia. Deposition of TiN films from a single precursor, TEMA T yielded the growth rates of $70 to 1050\AA$/min, depending on the deposition temperature. Furthermore, the excellent bottom coverage of -90% over $0.35\mu\textrm{m}$ contacts was obtained at $275^{\circ}C$. The addition of ammonia to TEMA T lowered the resistivity of as- deposited TiN film to ~ $800\mu\omega-cm$ from $3500~6000\mu\omega-cm$ and improved the stability of TiN film in air. Examination of the films by Auger electron spectroscopy(AES) showed that the oxygen and carbon contents decreased with the addition of ammonia. However, increasing ammonia flow rate decreased the bottom coverage of TiN films over $0.5\mu\textrm{m}$ contacts, probably due to the high sticking coefficient of intermediate species produced from the gas phase reaction of TEMA T and ammonia. Based on the byproduct gases detected by the quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS), the transammination reaction was proposed to be responsible for TiN deposition. In addition, XPS analysis revealed that the carbon in the films made from TEMA T and ammonia was metallic carbon, suggesting that $\beta$-hydrogen activation process occurs competitively with the transammination reaction.

  • This study presents the molecular phylogenetic analysis of Korean Aurelia aurita Linnaeus collected from Yeosu in the southern waters of Korea using nuclear ITS1 region and mitochondrial COI gene sequences. The use of oligonucleotide primers F5 (forward) and R5 (reverse) targeted to ITS1 and LCO1490 (forward) and HCO2198 (reverse) targeted to COI amplified 267 bp and 643 bp fragments, respectively. The shortest genetic distance towards the ITS1 region is estimated at 0.023 when comparing Korean A. aurita to Aurelia sp. collected from California, USA. In particular, Korean and American/Swedish A. aurita were located far away in terms of genetic distance, ranging from 0.393 to 0.395. On the other hand, the genetic distance between Korean and English/Turkish/Swedish/American A. aurita regarding the mitochondrial DNA COI gene ranged from 0.201 to 0.205. However, a sister-ship with Korean and American A. aurita showed an extremely high bootstrap value (100%). The predicted secondary RNA structure of the mitochondrial DNA COI gene showed many different folding structures with a similar energy between Korean and American A. aurita. These results suggest that ITS1 and the mitochondrial DNA COI gene could be used as genetic markers for identification of the biogeographic populations.

  • The effect of different silicon (Si) sources and methods of application on the growth of two chrysanthemum cultivars grown in a soilless substrate was investigated. Rooted terminal cuttings of Dendranthema grandiflorum 'Lemmon Eye' and 'Pink Eye' were transplanted into pots containing a coir-based substrate. A nutrient solution containing 0 or $50mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ Si from calcium silicate ($CaSiO_3$), potassium silicate ($K_2SiO_3$) or sodium silicate ($Na_2SiO_3$) was supplied once a day through an ebb-and-flood sub irrigation system. A foliar spray of 0 or $50mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ Si was applied twice a week. Cultivar and application method had a significant effect on plant height. Cultivar, application method, and Si source had a significant effect on plant width. Of the three Si sources studied, $K_2SiO_3$ was found to be the best for the increasing number of flowers, followed by $CaSiO_3$ and $Na_2SiO_3$. In both the cultivars, sub irrigational supply of Si developed necrotic lesions in the older leaves at the beginning of the flowering stage as compared to the control and foliar spray of Si. Cultivar, application method, Si source, and their interactions had significant influence on leaf tissue concentrations of calcium (Ca), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), sodium (Na), boron (B), iron (Fe), and zinc (Zn). The addition of Si to the nutrient solution decreased leaf tissue concentrations of Ca, Mg, S, Na, B, Cu, Fe, and Mn in both cultivars. The greatest Si concentration in leaf tissue was found in 'Lemmon Eye' ($1420{\mu}g{\cdot}g^{-1}$) and 'Pink Eye' ($1683{\mu}g{\cdot}g^{-1}$) when $K_2SiO_3$ was applied through a sub irrigation system and by foliar spray, respectively.

  • Effects of sucrose at different concentrations (0, 10, 20, and 30%, w/w) on steady and dynamic shear rheological properties of sweet potato starch (SPS) paste (5%, w/w) were investigated. The steady shear rheological properties of SPS-sucrose composites were determined from rheological parameters based on power law and Casson flow models. At 25$^{\circ}C$ all the samples showed pseudoplastic and thixoropic behavior with high yield stress. Consistence index (K), apparent viscosity (${\eta}_{a,100}$), and yield stress (${\sigma}_{oc}$) values of SPS-sucrose composites decreased with increasing sucrose concentration from 10% to 30%. The decrease of swelling power was observed at higher sucrose concentration (>20%) and the low swelling power yielded a lower K, ${\eta}_{a,100}$, and ${\sigma}_{oc}$ values. In temperature range of 25-70$^{\circ}C$, Arrhenius equation adequately assessed variation with temperature. Oscillatory test data showed weak gel-like behavior. Magnitudes of storage (G') and loss (G") moduli increased with an increase in sucrose concentration and frequency. The SPS-sucrose composite at 30% concentration closely followed the Cox-Merz superposition rule.

  • The effect of sub-grid turbulence and combustion models on the mean flame height in a heptane pool fire according to the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) version (5 and 6) based on Large Eddy Simulation (LES) was examined. The heat release rate for the fire simulation was provided through experiments performed under identical conditions and the predictive performance of the mean flame height according to FDS version was evaluated by a comparison with the existing correlation. As a result, the Smagorinsky and Deardorff turbulence models applied to FDS 5 and 6, respectively, had no significant effects on the mean flow field, flame shape and flame height. On the other hand, the difference in pool fire characteristics including the mean flame height was due mainly to the difference in the mixture fraction and Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) combustion models applied to FDS 5 and 6, respectively. Finally, compared to FDS 6, FDS 5 provided the predictive result of a significantly longer flame height and more consistent mean flame height than the existing correlation.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependence on software to railway systems and changed to computer systems. Hence, the reliability and safety assurance of the vital software running on the embedded railway system is going to tend toward very critical task. Accordingly, various software test and validation activities are highly recommended in the international standards related railway software. In this paper, we presented an automated analysis tool and standard for software testing coverage in railway system, and presented its result of implementation. We developed the control flow analysis tool estimating test coverage as an important quantitative item for software safety verification in railway software. Also, we proposed judgement standards due to railway S/W Safety Integrity Level(SWSIL) based on analysis of standards in any other field for utilizing developed tool widely at real railway industrial sites. This tool has more advantage of effective measuring various test coverages than other countries, so we can expect railway S/W development and testing technology of real railway industrial sites in Korea.

  • The society experiencing the industrialization and urbanization has got over the socio-demographic change. these changes make the number of the population around the world, and this phenomenon is flowing into the whole country. Korea has became a Aging Society since 2000 and will be turned into the aged society by the 2018. therefore, the importance of preparing elderly living life such as silver town is getting emphasized. the purpose of this study is aimed at analyzing the decision elements of the preliminary demanders' intention who selecting Elderly Housing. Based on this study, it was broken down by the type much more. Binary Logistic Regression Analysis of Factors affecting the Elderly housing choices were subdivided. Through this process, improvement and the implications of this study was derived. this study deducts 3 kinds of implications. First, the preference for the development of elderly housing are different with each type of characteristics. Second, the indicators along with the individual characteristics account for the most part of the surface. so the specific investigation for the demand must be required to check the indicators. Third, when it comes to development of urban elderly housing, it requires to have a part of a local government plans securing the land. Fourth, when it comes to development of suburb elderly housing, it is required to arrange the living environment around the suburbs to let user classes living in Gyeonggi-do flow into elderly housing and live their new-life in the suburbs. Finally, when it comes to development of rural elderly housing, a variety of production, leisure and other programs should be made and put into there.

  • For analyzing the qualitative and quantitative analysis of fuel marker in petroleum products, the applicability of HPLC was studied. For the qualitative analysis of fuel marker in kerosene and automotive diesel, optimal analytical conditions(ratio of mobile phase solvent, flow rate, etc) in HPLC were selected and calibration curve for quantitative analysis of fuel marker was prepared based on the result of qualitative analysis. In particular, the correlation coefficient of calibration curve in kerosene and automotive diesel was shown to be 0.999 in a certain concentration range and it could be applied to the quantitative analysis. The results of analysis using the UV/Vis spectrometer, which is the current analysis method of fuel marker, were compared with the analysis results using the HPLC. The kerosene showed a low deviation of about 7 % and the automotive diesel showed a somewhat large deviation of about 20 %.
