A New Pipelined Divider with a Small Lookup Table (작은 룩업테이블을 가지는 새로운 파이프라인 나눗셈기)

  • Generally, dividers have been designed to use iteration, but recently the research on the pipelined divider is underway. It is a difficult point in the known pipelined division unit that a large lookup table is required. In this paper, the cost-effective pipelined divider is proposed, that needs a lookup table smaller than that of the other pipelined divider. The latency of the proposed divider is 3 cycles. We obtain a 30% reduced area than that of P. Hung.

  • Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facilities are used at most of the offshore oil fields worldwide. FPSO usage is expected to grow as oil fields move to deeper water, thus requiring the reliability and stability of mooring wires and risers in extreme environmental conditions. Except for the case of predictable attack angles of external loadings, FPSO facilities with turret single point mooring (SPM) systems are in general use. There are two types of turret systems: permanent systems and disconnectable turret mooring systems. Extreme environment criteria for permanent moorings are usually based on a 100-year return period event. It is common to use two or three environments including the 100-year wave with associated wind and current, and the 100-year wind with associated waves and current. When fitted with a disconnectable turret mooring system, FPSOs can be used in areas where it is desirable to remove the production unit from the field temporarily to prevent exposure to extreme events such as cyclones or large icebergs. Static and dynamic mooring analyses were performed to evaluate the stability of a spider buoy after disconnection from a turret during cyclone environmental conditions.

  • Software linear and exponential acceleration/deceleration algorithms for control of machine axes of motion in industrial robots and CNC machine tools are proposed. Typical hardware systems used to accelerate and decelerate axes of motion are mathematically analyzed. Discrete-time state equations are derived from the mathematical analyses for the development of software acceleration/deceleration algorithms. Synchronous control method of multiple axes of motion in industrial robots and CNC machine tools is shown to be easily obtained on the basis of the proposed acceleration/deceleration algorithms. The path error analyses are carried out for the case where the software linear and exponential acceleration/deceleration algorithms are applied to a circular interpolator. A motion control system based on a floating point digital signal processor (DSP) TMS 320C30 is developed in order to implement the proposed algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that the developed algorithms and the motion control system are available for control of multiple axes and nonlinear motion composed of a combination of lines and circles which industrial robots and CNC machine tools require.

A Study on Relationship between Track Impact Factor and Track Support Stiffness of Turnout System on Urban Transit (도시철도 분기기 궤도구조의 궤도지지강성과 궤도충격계수의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the relationship between the track support stiffness and the track impact factor for a sleeper floating track and a turnout system with wood ties currently employed in Korean urban transit was assessed by performing field tests using actual vehicles running along the service lines. Field tests were performed on four track systems (i.e., sleeper floating track, and point, lead and crossing sections of turnout system). The theoretically designed track impact factor and track support stiffness were compared with the corresponding track impact factor and track support stiffness measured through field tests for the target tracks on the service line. The track impact factor for the service line appeared to increase with the deviation of track support stiffness according to vehicle driving direction; therefore, it was inferred that the deviation of track support stiffness between each track section directly affected the track impact factor.

  • Multiferroic $HoMnO_3$ single crystal was prepared using 4-point focused floating zone furnace, and polycrystalline $HoMn_{1-x}\;^57Fe_xO_3$ (x=0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05) powders have been prepared by solid state reaction. Their magnetic and crystallographic properties are studied using MPMS, PPMS, and $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy. The crystal structure found to be a hexagonal and a magnetic easy-axis is (110) direction. As the external applied magnetic field increases, temperature of the dielectric constant anomaly is decreased. $HoMn_{0.95}\;^{57}Fe_{0.05}O_3$ shows huge quadrupole splitting value from the $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectra.

  • Seawater lift pump systems are responsible for maintaining open canal levels to provide the suction flow of circulating water pumps at the set point. The objective of this paper is to design a 2-stage mixed flow pump (for seawater lifting), investigate the new impeller modeling method, and performance improvements of the impeller by using a commercial CFD code. The rotating speed of the impeller is 1,750 rpm with a flow rate of 2,700 m3/h. A finite volume method with a structured mesh and realized k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulent model is used to guarantee a more accurate prediction of turbulent flow in the pump impeller. The performance variables such as the static head, brake horsepower, and efficiency of the mixed flow pump are compared based on changes in the impeller blade shape.

  • This paper deals with the microcomputer realization of EMG pattern recognition system which provides identification of motion commands from the EMG signals for the on-line control of a prosthetic arm. A probabilistic model of pattern is formulated in the feature space of integral absolute value(IAV) to describe the relation between a motion command and the location of corresponding pattern. This model enables the derivation of sample density function of a command in the feature space of IAV. Classification is caried out through the multiclass sequential decision process, where the decision rule and the stopping rule of the process are designed by using the simple mathematical formulas defined as the likelihood probability and the decision measure, respectively. Some floating point algorithms such as addition, multiplication, division, square root and exponential function are developed for calculating the probability density functions and the decision measure. Only six primitive motions and one no motion are incorporated in this paper.

  • This paper presents Samsung CNC (Computer Numerical Controller) system with an intel 80486/487 as the main CPU and a 32 bit floating point DSP(Digital Signal Processor) TMS320C30 as the motion control CPU. The Samsung CNC system diverse user-frienly characteristics such as multi-tasking, powerful menu system, internal PLC system, and 2/3 dimensional graphics in wire and solid mode. The main CPU executes central processing program, user interface program, interpreter, BMI, etc while the motion control CPU carries out some interpolations, acceleration/deceleration, and PID control algorithm with feedforward terms. Complex interpolations except linear and circular ones are performed on the main control CPU. The experimental results for the circular interpolation under linear acceleration/deceleration shows that the proposed CNC system can be widely used in controlling machining centers with good machining accuracy.

  • Exhaust system by reinforcement of environment regulation came to the foe study necessity. And Exhaust system has necessary to increase the engine performance and silence. From this cause, Automobile has significantly considered production expense. this study makes process for checking the characteristics about Exhaust variable valve within muffler. Variable valve might reduce the baffle within muffler, It was possible to remove the front muffler. Therefor, To miniaturize a size of muffler might be increased by performance through cost-cutting effect and controling of back pressure. Because the Study on Variable valve installed within muffler, to measure the real data was hardly resulted one of the assignments. From manufactured conduct device, might measure data one of piece which was up-graded of problem. Considering to these point, stressed pressure distribution has analyzed on cross section, floating characteristics about velocity distribution around variable valve using analysis as computational fluid dynamics of Ansys with completed measurement data.

  • Mobile Harbor(MH) is a new paradigm for maritime transport system introduced in Korea, the target of which is to carry out ship-to-ship cargo operation rapidly and effectively even under a condition of sea state 3. A MH ship is moored alongside a large container vessel anchored at the defined anchorage and also equipped with gantry cranes for handling containers. The MH study concerned includes rapid container handling system, optimum design for floating structure, hybrid berthing & cargo operation system, design for cargo handling crane, etc. This paper is to deal with a conceptual design of a stabilized mooring system and mooring equipment under a condition of ship-to-ship mooring. In this connection, we suggest a positioning control winch system in order to control heave motions of the MH ship which is to add constant brakepower and stabilized function to an auto-tension winch and mooring equipment used currently in large container ships.
