  • The purpose of This study's aim is to examine the difference in the changes of body segment movement, variables for ball quality, and carry at golf driver swing according to the ball quality using comparative analysis. Regarding the impact variables according to the ball quality using the track man and carry, club speed was the fastest at draw shot, ball speed was the fastest at straight shot, and smash factor was the lowest at draw shot. About the vertical launch angle, the fade shot showed the highest launch angle while the max height of the ground and ball was the highest at fade shot. And carry was the longest at draw shot. For the flight time, it was the longest at draw shot. The landing angle was the largest at fade shot. About the club head position change and trajectory, at the overall event point, the fade shot drew a more outer trajectory at the point of the follow through(E6) than the straight or draw shot. Regarding the angular speed of shoulder rotation, at the overall event point, the fade shot showed the greatest angular speed change in the follow through(E6). Also, about the angular speed of pelvic rotation, at the overall event point, the draw shot showed the greatest angular speed change at the point of down swing(E4). Concerning the stance angle change, both straight and fade shots were open as the concept of open stance whereas the draw shot was close as that of close stance. Regarding the previous study, the most important factor of deciding Ball Quality is the club face angle's open and close state at Impact. In short, the Ball Quality and carry were decided by this factor.

  • The point of impact, the shot group, and the flight traces depend on the combination of unique features which decide moving traces of the arrow (paradox of the archer, length of the arrow shaft, weight, angle of the feather, and spline of the arrow shaft). The more dense the impact points in the shot group and the earlier elimination of paradox of the archer, the higher assessment is given for the product. However, there is no way to objectively assess the efficiency and quality of the arrow, and there is no numeric data to be used as the basis for comparison with other products. Although capturing the images of flying arrow using a high-speed motion picture camera is possible, we are limited to observation from specific view angle only. Hence, the criteria for efficiency and quality assessment are mostly based on subjective opinions of experts or hunters, or review on consumers' remarks. In this paper, we propose a hardware composition that are based on three detection frames consisting of line lasers and photo diode arrays without the high-speed motion picture camera. Predicated on measured coordinates data, a nobel method for the archer's paradox measurement, a key parameter that determine the arrow's trajectory, and corresponding numerical analysis model is proposed.

  • Surface state change of ammunition generated during the storage period increases the surface roughness and this affects the flight of ammunition, but there are no research results quantitatively indicating this. In this study, the drag force for each Mach number of howitzer shells was calculated through CFD to which the surface data of the howitzer shell was applied, and analysis of trajectory was performed using drag force values as an input of the 4th Runge-Kutta method, and the degree of decrease of the maximum range caused by the surface roughness of the howitzer shell was estimated. As a result, it was confirmed that the maximum range of howitzer shell with high surface roughness was 1.12 % shorter than that of howitzer shell without roughness. It was confirmed that the effect of surface roughness on the trajectory is not negligible.

  • A sub-munition which has low aspect ratio does not have flight stability and control of drag force under free-fall condition. In order to satisfy those problems, fin, which is called grid-fin, is designed instead of conventional flight fins and adapted to the sub-munition. The base model of the sub-munition is firstly set and numerical simulation of the model is conducted under transonic condition that is free-fall range of the sub-munition. Wind test is secondly performed to verify the simulation result. The result shows that grid fin adapted sub-munition has high drag force, but the flight stability is still needed. In order to enhance the flight stability, two additional grid-fins are designed which modify web-thickness and numerical simulations of modified models are conducted. As the results, the thinnest web-thickness grid-fin has the highest flight stability and still maintains high drag coefficient. Based on these results, design of grid-fin adapted sub-munition is completed, the path trajectory of the sub-munition can be predicted with acquired aerodynamic datum and it is expected that grid fin can be used to various shape of the flight vehicle and bomb.

  • The ICAO (International civil aviation organization)recommended the implementation of the GANP (global air navigation plan) for strategic decision-making and air traffic management evaluation. In this study, we proposed a new method for finding the route distance from KPI (key performance indicator) 05 actual route extension presented for air traffic management evaluation. For this purpose, we collected trajectory data for one month and calculated the en-route distances using the methods presented in ICAO and the methods presented by this author. In the ICAO method, the intersection point must be estimated through the equation of a circle for radius 40 NM and the equation of a straight line for an inner and outer point close to a circle in the track data, and four flight distances are calculated to calculate the en-route distance. In the method presented in this study, two flight distances are calculated without estimating the intersection point to calculate the en-route distance. To determine the error between the two methods, we used the performance evaluation index RMSE (root mean square error) and the determination factor R2 of the regression model.

  • In KSLV-I launch mission, real-time data from the tracking stations are acquired, processed and distributed by the Mission Control System to the user group who needed to monitor processed data for safety and flight monitoring purposes. The processed trajectory data by the mission control system is sent to each tracking system for target designation in case of tracking failure. Also, the processed data are used for decision making for flight termination when anomalies occur during flight of the launch vehicle. In this paper, we propose the processing mechanism of slaving data which plays a key role of launch vehicle tracking mission. The best position data is selected by predefined logic and current status after every available position data are acquired and pre-processed. And, the slaving data is distributed to each tracking stations through time delay is compensated by extrapolation. For the accurate processing, operation timing of every procesing modules are triggered by time-tick signal(25ms period) which is driven from UTC(Universial Time Coordinates) time. To evaluate the proposed method, we compared slaving data to the position data which received by tracking radar. The experiments show the average difference value is below 0.01 degree.

  • To perform realistic air traffic control (ATC) simulation in various air traffic situations, an aircraft dynamic model that is accurate and efficient is required. In this research, an improved five degree of freedom (5-DOF) dynamic model with feedback control and guidance law is developed, which utilizes selected performance data and operational specifications from the base of aircraft data (BADA) and estimations using aircraft design techniques to improve the simulation fidelity. In addition, takeoff weight is estimated based on the aircraft type and flight plan to improve simulation accuracy. The dynamic model is validated by comparing the simulation results with recorded flight trajectories. An ATC simulation system using this 5-DOF model can be used for various ATC related research.

  • This paper proposes a new guidance law for increasing the lethality of munitions. The well known PNG (Proportional Navigation Guidance) is inadequate for the munitions because of some weaknesses. Even if the munition does not have the impact point error, the acceleration command is non zero because the line-of-sight changes at all times in flight. Therefore, we use a difference between a target and an impact point. This proposed guidance law is similar to PNG in the form, but this guidance law concentrates a correction rate of flight path angle instead of the LOS (Line of Sight) rate. The correction of flight path angle is defined as the amount of impact point error. This impact point error can be calculated by neural networks rapidly. Finally, we show that the simulation results prove the suitability of this law.

  • In this paper, the development of unique model of the 2.75 inch rocket propulsion system is described. Recently developed korean 2.75 inch rocket propulsion system shows the improvement of a flame stability resulted from a change in the configuration of propellant grain, and of an incidental ignition protection function using the EMI(electromagnetic interference) filter on ignition system. Moreover it is shown that a directional flight stability is improved by increasing the number of fins and changing the nozzle configuration. Static firing test and thermal shock test were conducted for the validation before flight, and flight test of 210 rounds of rockets was conducted to verify the trajectory uniformity. In addition, intellectual property issues can be overcome with the unique korean 2.75 inch rocket motor as well as the performance improvement.

  • Threat due to malfunction of space launch vehicles is significant since it is bigger and flights longer range than military missiles or scientific rockets. It is necessary to implement a flight safety system to minimize the possible hazard. Design objective of the tracking filter for the flight safety system is different from conventional tracking filters since estimation reliability is more emphasized than estimation accuracy. In this paper, a fusion tracking filter was implemented for processing multi-sensor data from a space launch vehicle. The filter performance is evaluated by analyzing the error of the estimated position and instantaneous impact point. Also a fault detection algorithm is implemented to guarantee fusion filter's reliability under any sensor failure and verified to maintain stability successfully.
