  • In an evaluation process of aircraft flying qualities, a clear and concise application interface is important since an evaluation process requires numerous repeated evaluation. This flight evaluation program have implemented efficient flight evaluation user interface along with changed trim condition interface and composed of comprehensive evaluation interface have mounted all automated FQ evaluation modules that was selected to be compose of 14 items in respect of an unmanned fixed-wing aircraft. Accordingly when it is necessary to design the flight control system as well as to develop a FQ considered aircraft, this S/W can be utilized as a tool that is a useful test evaluation S/W with scalability and enable to reduce the time and the cost of verification and evaluation process.

  • A significant source of vibration in helicopters is the main rotor system, and it is a technical challenge to reduce the vibration in order to ensure the comfort of crew and passengers. Several types of passive devices have been applied to conventional helicopters in order to reduce the vibration. In recent years, helicopter manufacturers have increasingly adopted active vibration control systems (AVCSs) due to their superior performance with lower weight compared with passive devices. AVCSs can also maintain their performance over aircraft configuration and flight condition changes. As part of the development of AVCS software for light civil helicopter (LCH) applications, a test bench is constructed and vibration control tests and simulations are performed in this study. The test bench, which represents the airframe, is excited using a pair of counter rotating force generators (CRFGs) and a multiple input single output (MISO) AVCS that consists of three accelerometer sensors and a pair of CRFGs; a filtered-x least mean square (LMS) algorithm is applied for the vibration reduction. First, the vibration control tests are performed with uniform sensor weights; then, the change in the control performance according to changes in the sensor weight is investigated and compared with the simulation results. It is found that the vibration control performance can be tuned through adjusting the weights of the three sensors, even if only one actuator is used.

  • Quadrotor is widely used in variable application nowadays. Due to its inherent unstable characteristics, control system to augment the stability is essential for quadrotor operation. To design control system and verify its performance through simulation, accurate dynamic model is required. Quadrotor dynamic model is simply compared with conventional rotorcraft such as helicopter. However, the accurate dynamic model of quadrotor is not easy to develop because of the highly correlated aerodynamic effect of each rotor. In this paper, quadrotor dynamic model is identified from the flight data using frequency domain approach. Flight test of quadrotor is performed in closed loop configuration with stability augmentation system included. Frequency sweep input is applied in each of lateral, longitudinal, yaw and heave axis separately. The bare dynamic model is identified from the flight data of quadrotor responses and thrust measurement through Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) data. The frequency responses of identified model match well with those of flight data, and time responses of identified model for doublet input in each axis are also shown to agree with flight data.

  • This paper presents the control law of Automatic Rudder Trim System(ARTS) for the KTX-1. The proposed ARTS is designed mainly t reduce the pilot's work load for trimming in the various conditiions of engine torque. airspeed, and aircraft configuration. The ARTS partially compensates the transient yawing motion due to change of engine power in turboprop aircraft because of the limitation of the actuation speed of the trim motor. In this paper flight test data are analyzed to understand the phenomena and the dynamics of the reversible rudder flight control system is derived. Finally, the control concept and conrtol law of ARTS are described and the characteristics of the ARTS are analyzed through simulation study.

  • Explosively activated pyro-technic device is used to release exhausted rocket booster or payloads at prescribed times in the rocket's flight. It creates pyro-shock environment that rocket or payload components must survive. With the shock spectra acquired from flight data, laboratory test should be performed before flight to check whether all of component can sustain the shock environment. The pyro-shock environment simulation was created by the resonance fixture response to a projectile impact. Desired shock spectra is realized by adjusting the natural frequency of resonance plate and the velocity of impact hammer. This paper describes the development process of Pyro-shock testing machine, which is designed and tested by Korean engineers, to verify components of Korean Sounding Rocket(KSR-3) and the other Korean space vehicle. Both analytical and experimental techniques are introduced in this paper.

  • This paper contains the computational simulation of a free rocket with a parachute and the development of a firing table for each range. To obtain the trajectory of the rocket, 6 DOF model of rocket with parachute was generated and the wind tunnel test was done for the input parameters. Good agreement was obtained between the analysis of trajectory and the flight test result. Also the trajectory error analysis was performed by the Monte Carlo simulation. As a result of simulation, the CEP(Circular Error Probability) of the firing table was calculated.

  • This paper presents a design of a multi-sensor data fusion filter for a Flight Test System. The multi-sensor data consist of positional information of the target from radars and a telemetry system. The data fusion filter has a structure of a federated Kalman filter and is based on the Singer dynamic target model. It consists of dedicated local filter for each sensor, generally operating in parallel, plus a master fusion filter. A fault detection and correction algorithms are included in the local filter for treating bad measurements and sensor faults. The data fusion is carried out in the fusion filter by using maximum likelihood estimation algorithm. The performance of the designed fusion filter is verified by using both simulation data and real data.
