The primary purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of steel fiber reinforcement on the total energy dissipation capacity of R/C flexural members and to make a contribution to the construction of 40~60 story R/C high rise building by developing the new materials and reinforcing details which can improve the seismic performance of high-strength R/C beam-column joints. Experimental research was carried out on 4 type specimen under cyclic loading. Main variables are steel fiber reinforcement, intermediate reinforcements and yield strength of rebars. From the test results, steel fiber reinforcement can improve the ductility of R/C flexural members.
In the Ultimate Strength Design, the design strength of a member is determined by multiplying the strength reduction factor to the nominal strength. This concept may be a reasonable approach, however it can not consider failure modes appropriately. Moreover, column design strength diagram show an abrupt change at a low level of axial load, which does not seem to be reasonable. This research compares the design strength determined by the strength resistance factors. As the material resistance factors for flexure and compression, 0.65 and 0.90 are proposed for concrete and steel, respectively. The design strength calculation process by applying material resistance factors addresses failure modes more effectively than by applying member strength reduction factor, and provides more resnable design strength for reinforced concrete flexural and compression members.
The object of this study was to investigate the flexural stress blocks of High Strength Concrete Members under monotonic loading. Such a stress block should be clearly idealized before High Strength Concrete can be used with confidence in Structural Members.
The principal test variables were the Compressive Strength of Concrete, the percentage of longitudinal reinforcement and the spacing of confinement reinforcement.
The rectangular stress block of the present ACI Building Code was found to give acceptably conservative flexural strength predictions over the entire range of concrete strength from 280kg/crd (4Ksi)to 1050kg/crd( 15Ksi)

This study is concerning on modeling to predict the flexural behaviors of FRP-confined concrete structural members. For compressive behaviors of confined concrete by FRP jackets, the hypoelasticity-based constitutive law of concrete has been presented under the basis of three-dimensional stress states. The strength enhancement of concrete wrapped by FRP jackets has been determined by the failure surface of concrete in tri-axial states, and its corresponding peak strain is computed by the strain enhancement factor. The behavior of FRP jackets has been modeled using the mechanics of orthotropic laminated composite materials in two-dimensional stress states. To be based on the three-dimensional constitutive laws, an algorithm for the prediction of flexural bending behaviors of FRP-confined concrete structural member has been presented.

The efficient beam members for modern greenhouse need to be much lightweight with the required flexural and buckling strength. To confirm the applicability and practicality of the trussed web beam recently proposed for column and beam members of greenhouse, the flexural behavior and buckling characteristics were analyzed by the finite element approach. On the basis of analytical studies, the member design process was presented considering the lateral and local buckling behavior. Also, two improved alternatives which were capable of retaining the lateral and local buckling effectively were suggested.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beam members exposed to high temperature. In order to study the flexural behaviors, the 17 specimens have been tested with variables of reinforcement ratios($0.5\rho_{max},\rho_{min}$), heating conditions(nonheating, 400$^{circ}C$, 600$^{circ}C$, 800$^{circ}C$ heating and 1 hour preservation) and loading state(stressed and residual state). The results show that the stiffness and strength of specimens are lower when they are exposed to higher temperature and the pattern of crack and color of specimens exposed to fire are different from ordinary concrete members.
The use of cold-formed steel members is increasing day by day, especially in regions where earthquake effects are intensively experienced. Among cold-formed steel members (CFS), "channel" members are used more than other crosssectional members, especially in buildings or industrial structures. In recent years, several studies have been carried out on the axial load and flexural performance of these members under monotonic loading. In this study, CFS beam-column members were cyclically and monotonically loaded under combined axial load and biaxial bending moments, and their buckling behavior, load bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, and energy absorption capacity were determined. For this purpose, monotonic and cyclic loading experiments were carried out on 30 CFS channel members at 15 different eccentricities. Then, material properties were determined by axial monotonic tensile and very low cycle fatigue tests for use in numerical studies. From the experimental results, the buckling modes, bearing capacities, ductility, stiffness, and energy absorption capacities of the members were obtained. The characteristics of the members were compared according to the stress state of the lips. According to the data obtained from the displacement transducer placed on the lips and on the back of the web, information about the buckling mode and curvature of the members was obtained. Finally, monotonic, and cyclic loading results were compared to determine the differences in the buckling behavior of the members.

Recently the repair of damaged reinforced concrete members by the external bonding of fiber-reinforced polymer laminates has received considerable attention. This paper investigates the flexural behaviors of beam strengthened with Aramid fiber sheets(AFS), and attempts to evaluate the flexural strength of such RC beams by the use of nonlinear flexural analysis because the application of the KCI strength method to strengthened beam is somewhat limited and the failure strain of AFS is overestimated in particular cases.

This paper was aimed to evaluate the structural performance of flexural members repaired by polymer cement and epoxy mortar at soffit. Main test variables were repair materials, ratio of reinforcement and additional reinforcing bars. Test results shows that the repaired beams could change flexural capacity by materials and additional reinforcing bars. In polymer cement, the section repaired can carry same load, cracking moment and the flexural stiffness of the monolithic beams with same size. In epoxy mortar, all data were greater than the shotcrete. However, note that epoxy mortar may conduct member into brittle failure mode.
The reinforced concrete(RC) flexural members strengthened with steel plate/CFS at soffit have initial stresses and strains in reinforcements and concrete caused by the service loads at the time of retrofitting works. These initial residual stresses and strains of strengthened beams may affect the flexural performance of the rehabilitated beams. The objective of this study is to evaluate and verify the effectiveness of rehabilitation by external bonded steel plates and CFS to the tension face of the beams under three conditions of pre-loading. Thirteen beam specimens are tested and analyzed. Main test parameters are pre-loading conditions, strengthening materials and reinforcement ratio of specimens. The effect of test parameters on the strengthened beams is analyzed from the maximum load capacity, load-deflection relationship, state of stress of the materials. crack propagation phase, and failure modes. Both test results and design formulas of ACI Code provisions are compared and evaluated.
