The industrial operation is one of the three basic modes of shipping operation with liner and Tramp operations. Industrial operators usually control vessels of their own or on a time charter to minimize the cost of shipping their cargoes. Such operations abound in shipping of bulk commodities, such as oil, chemicals and ores. This work is concerned with an operational optimization analysis of the fleet owned by a major oil company. a typical industrial operator. The operational optimization problem of the fleet of a major oil company is divided Into two phase problem. The front end corresponds to the optimization problem of the transportation of crude oil. product mix. and the distribution of product oil to comply with the demand of the market. The back end tackles the scheduling optimization problem of the fleet to meet the seaborne transportation demand derived from the front end. A case study reflecting the practices of an international major oil company is demonstrated to make clear the underlying ideas.

Earthwork is a basic operation for all forms of civil works and affects construction time, cost and productivity. It is a mechanized operation that needs various construction equipment as a group and uses a lot of fuel for construction equipment. But, the problem is that earthwork operation is usually performed by equipment operator's heuristic and intuition, which can cause low productivity, high fuel consumption, and high carbon dioxide emission. As one of solutions for this problem, the fleet management system for construction equipment is suggested for effective earthwork planning, optimal equipment allocation, efficient machine operation, fast information exchange, and so forth. The purpose of this research is to suggest core methods for developing the equipment fleet management system. The methods include 3D solid parametric model generation, soil distribution using Cctree data structure, equipment fleet construction and equipment fleet operation. A simulation test is performed to verify the effectiveness of the equipment fleet management system in terms of equipment operating ratio, fuel usage, and $CO_2$ emission.

In this paper, I propose a hybrid genetic algorithm(HGAM) incorporating a greedy interchange local optimization procedure for the multiobjective vehicle scheduling problems with service due times where three conflicting objectives of the minimization of total vehicle travel time, total weighted tardiness, and fleet size are explicitly treated. The vehicle is allowed to visit a node exceeding its due time with a penalty, but within the latest allowable time. The HGAM applies a mixed farming and migration strategy in the evolution process. The strategy splits the population into sub-populations, all of them evolving independently, and applys a local optimization procedure periodically to some best entities in sub-populations which are then substituted by the newly improved solutions. A solution of the HCAM is represented by a diploid structure. The HGAM uses a molified PMX operator for crossover and new types of mutation operator. The performance of the HGAM is extensively evaluated using the Solomons test problems. The results show that the HGAM attains better solutions than the BC-saving algorithm, but with a much longer computation time.

Global discussions are actively underway regarding the introduction of urban air mobility (UAM) to revolutionize the paradigm in the innovative mobility industry. While research related to airspace, vertiports, navigation, and communication pertinent to Korean UAM is actively pursued by relevant research institutions, there is a significant dearth in studies focusing on establishing concepts for operational management by UAM operators and formulating control procedures. The commercialization of UAM necessitates the establishment of standardized operational management concepts, pivotal as benchmarks for the individual system development among multiple UAM operators. This paper analyzes UAM exceptional law, operational readiness, existing regulations pertaining to commercial and rotary-wing aircraft, and proposes suitable approaches to formulate domestic low-density operational management and control procedures. By presenting strategies for conceptualizing operational management and control procedures in the initial low-density environment for UAM, this paper aspires to contribute to future trail operations and the wider adoption of UAM.
The Chicago Convention and Annexes have become the basis of aviation safety regulations for every contracting state. Generally, the State's aviation safety regulations refer to the Standards and Recommended Practices(SARPs) provided in the Annexes of the Chicago Convention. In order to properly reflect international aviation safety regulations, constant studies of the aviation fields are of paramount importance. This Paper is intended to identify the main differences between korean and foreign regulation and suggest a few amendment proposals on Mixed-fleet Flying(at or more two aircraft type operation) of flight crew. Comparing with these regulations, the korean regulations and implementations have some insufficiency points. I suggest some amendment proposals of korean regulations concerning Mixed-fleet Flying that flight crew operate aircraft of different types. Basically an operator shall not assign a pilot-in-command or a co-pilot to operate at the flight controls of a type of airplane during take-off and landing unless that pilot has operated the flight controls during at least three take-offs and landings within the preceding 90 days on the same type of airplane or in a flight simulator. Also, flight crew members are familiarized with the significant differences in equipment and/or procedures between concurrently operated types. An operator shall ensure that piloting technique and the ability to execute emergency procedures is checked in such a way as to demonstrate the pilot's competence on each type or variant of a type of airplane. Proficiency check shall be performed periodically. When an operator schedules flight crew on different types of airplanes with similar characteristics in terms of operating procedures, systems and handling, the State shall decide the requirements for each type of airplane can be combined. In conclusion, it is necessary for flight crew members to remain concurrently qualified to operate multiple types. The operator shall have a program to include, as a minimum, required differences training between types and qualification to maintain currency on each type. If the Operator utilizes flight crew members to concurrently operate aircraft of different types, the operator shall have qualification processes approved or accepted by the State. If applicable, the qualification curriculum as defined in the operator's Advanced Qualification Program could be applied. Flight crew members are familiarized with the significant differences in equipment and/or procedures between concurrently operated types. The difference among different types of airpcrafts decrease and standards for these airpcrafts can be applied increasingly because function and performance have been improved by aircraft manufacture company in accordance to basic aircraft system in terms of developing new aircrafts for flight standard procedure and safety of flight. Also, it becomes more necessary for flight crews to control multi aircraft types due to various aviation business and activation of leisure business. Nevertheless, in terms of flight crew training and qualification program, there are no regulations in Korea to be applied to new aircraft types differently in accordance with different levels. In addition, it has no choice different programs based on different levels because there are not provisions to restrict or limit and specific standards to operate at or more than two aircraft types for flight safety. Therefore the aviation authority introduce Flight Standardization and/or Operational Evaluation Board in order to analysis differences among aircraft types. In addition to that, the aviation authority should also improve standard flight evaluation and qualification system among different aircraft types for flight crews to apply reasonable training and qualification efficiently. For all the issue mentioned above, I have studied the ICAO SARPs and some state's regulation concerning operating aircraft of different types(Mixed-fleet flying), and suggested some proposals on the different aircraft type operation as an example of comprehensive problem solving. I hope that this paper is 1) to help understanding about the international issue, 2) to help the improvement of korean aviation regulations, 3) to help compliance with international standards and to contribute to the promotion of aviation safety, in addition.
The convergence of fixed and wireless networks in data communication is providing the necessary driver for M2M commerce to take-off. The opportunities provided by M2M Commerce areonly limited by imagination. Automotive Fleet and Freight, Tolling, Water and Power Metering, Supply Chain Management including Asset Management, Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics, Energy Management and Access Control and Security are among the many M2M applications that are currently getting rolled out. ARC Group expects the worldwide solutions market to be worth in excess of US$ 100 billion by 2007. In addition, operator revenues worldwide from the transport of Telematics data alone will rise from US$ 3.5 billion in 2002 to US$ 78 billion by 2007. This paper discusses some of the lifestyle and business opportunities provided by M2M Commerce in the new ear of network convergence. It also provides some case studies to demonstrate the benefits of M2M Commerce across the supply chain. The key focus of the paper is on achieving enhanced lifestyle, cost reduction, improved profitability and enhanced customer relationship management through M2M Commerce.
We implemented a real-time cloud robotics application by offloading robot navigation engine over to 5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) sever. We also ran a fleet management system (FMS) in the server and controlled the movements of multiple robots at the same time. The mobile robots under the test were connected to the server through 5G SA network. Public 5G network, which is already commercialized, has been temporarily modified to support this validation by the network operator. Robot engines are containerized based on micro-service architecture and have been deployed using Kubernetes - a container orchestration tool. We successfully demonstrated that mobile robots are able to avoid obstacles in real-time when the engines are remotely running in 5G MEC server. Test results are compared with 5G Public Cloud and 4G (LTE) Public Cloud as well.
We present a methodology for modeling and solving the transit frequency design problem with variable demand. The problem is described as a bi-level model based on a non-cooperative Stackelberg game. The upper-level operator problem is formulated as a non-linear optimization model to minimize net cost, which includes operating cost, travel cost and revenue, with fleet size and frequency constraints. The lower-level user problem is formulated as a capacity-constrained stochastic user equilibrium assignment model with variable demand, considering transfer delay between transit lines. An efficient algorithm is also presented for solving the proposed model. The upper-level model is solved by a gradient projection method, and the lower-level model is solved by an existing iterative balancing method. An application of the proposed model and algorithm is presented using a small test network. The results of this application show that the proposed algorithm converges well to an optimal point. The methodology of this study is expected to contribute to form a theoretical basis for diagnosing the problems of current transit systems and for improving its operational efficiency to increase the demand as well as the level of service.

For Safety Assisted Engineering works, real-time simulators have emerged as a mandatory tool among all the key actors involved in the nuclear industry (utilities, designers and safety authorities). EDF, Electricité de France, as the leading worldwide nuclear power plant operator, has a crucial need for efficient and updated simulation tools for training, operating and safety analysis support. This paper will present the work performed at EDF/DT to develop a new generation of engineering simulator to fulfil these tasks. The project is called SiRENE, which is the acronym of Re-hosted Engineering Simulator in French. The project has been economically challenging. Therefore, to benefit from existing tools and experience, the SiRENE project combines: - A part of the process issued from the operating fleet training full-scope simulator. - An improvement of the simulator prediction reliability with the integration of High-Fidelity models, used in Safety Analysis. These High-Fidelity models address Nuclear Steam Supply System code, with CATHARE thermal-hydraulics system code and neutronics, with COCCINELLE code. - And taking advantage of the last generation and improvements of instructor station. The intensive and challenging uses of the new SiRENE engineering simulator are also discussed. The SiRENE simulator has to address different topics such as verification and validation of operating procedures, identification of safety paths, tests of I&C developments or modifications, tests on hydraulics system components (pump, valve etc.), support studies for Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA). etc. It also emerges that SiRENE simulator is a valuable tool for self-training of the newcomers in EDF nuclear engineering centers. As a modifiable tool and thanks to a skillful team managing the SiRENE project, specific and adapted modifications can be taken into account very quickly, in order to provide the best answers for our users' specific issues. Finally, the SiRENE simulator, and the associated configurations, has been distributed among the different engineering centers at EDF (DT in Lyon, DIPDE in Marseille and CNEPE in Tours). This distribution highlights a strong synergy and complementarity of the different engineering institutes at EDF, working together for a safer and a more profitable operating fleet.

Korean aviation authority required air service providers to submit public disclosure of aviation safety investment to encourage proactive and voluntary safety investments. In 2023, two airport operators and seventeen airlines disclosed their safety investment results and plans for the first time. This study aims to examine and analyze the current status of the disclosure system, identify insights for its development, and set directions for the future. Safety investments by airport operators decreased by 14.3% in 2022 compared to 2021 due to decreased aviation demand. Airline increased their safety investment by 46% to 4 trillion won, investing heavily in MRO and aircraft replacement, leading to a decrease in the average fleet age by 0.8 years. FSCs have shown a significantly higher level of safety investment compared to LCCs. However, LCCs show higher safety investment relative to revenue. It is necessary to consider the characteristics of each operator as well as the scale when comparing safety investments. A roadmap is suggested based on the importance of disclosure items for the strategic approach and improvement measures for the aviation safety investment disclosure system.
