순산소를 이용한 유리 용해로의 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on combustion characteristics of oxy-fuel glass melting furnace)

  • The results of a series of experiments executed by using two pilot-scale oxy-fuel burners are presented. The oxy-fuel burners are designed for maximum capacity of 50,000kcal/hr, 200,000kcal/hr and installed in the test furnace. The effects of turn-down ratio, excess oxygen ratio, nozzle exit velocity, injection angle, and swirl vane angle on the combustion characteristic are investigated. Temperature distributions are measured using R-type and Molybdenum sheathed C-type thermocouple at various points of the flame. The results showed that maximum temperature and mean temperature increase with the increase of turn-down ratio and momentum. The maximum flame temperature was increased about 35% compared to the case of equivalent air operated condition. In addition, optimum burner type, excess oxygen ratio and nozzle characteristics are obtained for this oxy-fuel glass melting furnace.

산소부화와 선회수에 따른 평면화염버너의 로 내 연소특성 (Combustion characteristics inside the furnace with a flat flame burner by oxygen enriched and swirled air)

  • Combustion using oxygen enriched air is an energy saving technology that can increase thermal efficiency by the improvement of burning rate and high temperature flame. But information about it is not so enough yet. Flame figure, temperature distribution and emission concentration were measured with oxygen enriched concentration and swirl number in a turbulent diffusion flame to investigate the combustion characteristics. The results showed that flame figure became different as long as oxygen enriched concentration varied and that concentration of NO increased suddenly around $O_2$ 60%.

  • The performance of the CT-TDLAS (computed tomography-tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy) is strongly dependent upon the line broadening functions. The line of the laser beam used in the TDLAS is scattered by the natural broadening, the collisional broadening and the doppler broadening. The influence of the natural broadening to the experimental spectra obtained in the TDLAS is negligible. The influences of the collisional broadening and the doppler broadening to the experimental spectra are relatively large, in high pressure gas flows and in high temperature low pressure gas flows, respectively. In this study, optimal coefficients are proposed for the doppler broadening function by using the experimental data obtained in a flat burner test. The optimal coefficients were ${\gamma}_j=0.16$ and n=0.37. Using these coefficients, the temperature and concentration distributions at the engine exhaust gas pipe have been calculated showing their validities.

  • Flame pattern in burner used in steel industry that constitutes 30% of country energy consumption is generally characterized as long narrow flame pattern so that localized heating causes product quality worse and many burners are needed for proper heating. This paper deals with flat wide flame pattern which has advantage in terms of uniform heating using less number of burners. For that purpose, impinging jet system of fuel and oxidant was used for making flat wide flame. Results show that nozzle angle $75^{\circ}$ of impinging jet is found to be optimum configuration for making effective wide flame which has uniform radiation heat transfer and flame temperature is also most uniform along the flame width for that nozzle angle.

난류예혼합 플랫버너의 화염 안정성 및 배출가스 특성 (The Flame Stability and the Emission Characteristics of Turbulent Premixed Flat Burner)

  • 본 논문에서는 메탈화이버를 이용한 난류예혼합 플랫버너를 제작하여 다양한 연소조건하에서 화염의 안정화범위를 확인하였으며, 연료유량과 공기유량의 변화에 따른 균일가열 능력과 배기가스 특성에 관한 실험을 실시하였다. 그리고 화염의 안정성 평가를 위한 실험을 통해 화염을 공기유량 변화에 따라 청녹염, 복사염, 청염 영역으로 나눌 수 있었고, 이들 영역은 청염>복사염>청녹염 영역 순으로 연소상태가 양호하였다. 공기비에 따른 영향을 살펴보면, 본 실험에서는 연료유량 1과 4l/min에서는 공기비 ${\alpha}=1.5$가 적합하였으며 연료유량 2l/min에서는 ${\alpha}=2.0$이 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 한편 연료유량과 관계없이 공기비 ${\alpha}=1.3{\sim}2.1$범위에서는 연소소음이 발생했다.

  • 인체에 유해한 질소산화물($NO_x$)의 생성을 억제하면서 열효율을 높일 수 있는 새로운 버너의 개념으로 촉매 버너가 제안되었고 본 연구에서는 대표적인 에너지 다소비 설비인 건조기에 사용하기 위한 촉매버너를 개발하였다. 산업용 건조기에 활용하기 위해 촉매버너는 평평한 매트 형태로 제작되어 열전달 면적을 극대화하였고 밀폐 공간인 건조실에 활용하기 위하여 예혼합 연소방식을 적용하였다. 새로 개발된 촉매 버너를 산업용 건조기에 적용하여 실험한 결과 열에너지가 원적외선 형태로 공급되어 감율건조 영역에서 식품과 같은 유기물을 효과적으로 건조할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 건조기의 열효율은 건조속도보다 피건조물의 함수율에 보다 큰 상관관계를 나타내었다.

  • Experimental measurements are conducted to investigate the structure of flat $CH_4/O_2/N_2$ premixed flames. The flames are simulated using a detailed chemical kinetic mechanism. Four flames established at equivalence ratio = 0.55 are studied with the different $O_2$ enrichment level, ${\Omega}$ = 0.21, 0.25, 0.30, and 0.35. The measured flame speed and species composition profiles are compared with the calculations. Whereas there is overall good agreement between the measurements and predictions, it appears that as the $O_2$ enrichment level is increased the position of the flame is moved toward the exit of the burner and the rapid temperature rise happens near the exit of the burner, and some areas of further refinement in the kinetic mechanism are identified.

  • To provide standard data of temperature and species concentration in a flame for calibrating the laser based combustion diagnostics, we investigated combustion characteristics of a flat flame burner(Mckennar Product). For various stoichiometric ratios we measured temperature and concentration of OH in the premixed methane/air flame with Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy and laser induced fluorescence technique, respectively. Assuming the chemical equilibrium condition at the measured temperature, the mole fraction of the OH radical in the flame was obtained and compared with numerical analysis.

  • Experimental studies are conducted to investigate the flame stability and the thermal/fuel NOx formation characteristics of the low calorific value(LCV) gas fuel. Synthetic LCV fuel gas is produced through mixing carbon monoxide, hydrogen, nitrogen and ammonia on the basis that the thermal input of the syngas fuel into a burner is identical to that of natural gas, and then the syngas mixture is fed to and burnt with air on flat flame burner. Flame behaviors are observed to identify flame instability due to blow-off or flash-back when burning the LCV fuel gas at various equivalence ratio conditions. Measurements of NOx in combustion gas are made for comparing thermal and fuel NOx emissions from the LCV syngas combustion with those of the natural gas one, and for analyzing ammonia to NOx conversion mechanism. In addition, the nitrogen dilution of the LCV syngas is preliminarily attempted as a NOx reduction technique.
