  • In this paper, a new MDAS-DR antenna structure designed to efficiently shape a flat-topped radiation pattern is proposed. The antenna structure is composed of a stacked micro-strip patch exciter and a multi-layered disk array structure(MDAS) surrounded by a dielectric ring. The MDAS, which was supplied by a stacked microstrip patch exciter with radiating power, can form a flat-topped radiation pattern in a far field by a mutual interaction with the surrounding dielectric ring. Therefore, the design parameters of the dielectric ring and the MDAS structure are important design parameters for shaping a flat-topped radiation pattern. The proposed antenna used twelve multi-layered disk array elements and a Teflon material with a dielectric constant of 2.05. An antenna operated at 10 GHz$(9.6\sim10.4\;GHz)$ was designed in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed antenna structure. The commercial simulator of CST Microwave $Studio^{TM}$, which was adapted to a 3-D antenna structure analysis, was used for the simulation. The antenna breadboard was also fabricated and its electrical performance was measured in an anechoic antenna chamber. The measured results of the antenna breadboard with a flat-topped radiation pattern were found to be in good agreement with the simulated one. The MDAS-DR antenna gain measured at 10 GHz was 11.18 dBi, and the MDAS-DR antenna was capable of shaping a good flat-topped radiation pattern with a beam-width of about $40^{\circ}$, at least within a fractional bandwidth of 8.0 %.

  • In this paper, we made a Singly Fed patch which is the fittest at the feeding part. And we found out return loss and radiation pattern about dielectric rod array antenna which has six's passive element to shape FTEP(Flat-topped element pattern) after we analyzed the characters of singly dielectric rod antenna. We show the conclusion that has the optimum return loss and more flat radiation pattern.

Tracking antenna is consisted of four flat-antenna, comparators, tracking receiver, controller. We analyzed input signal of antenna array about the magnitude and phase of radio wave. In addition, We suggested the available tracking range through the analysis of output signal. We have minimized the error rate that happened on two path through design two path of the azimuth and elevation. Analysis results has a tracking range of ${\pm}3$ degrees, it is possible to implement.

Mono-pulse tracking antenna consists of four flat-antenna, comparators, tracking receiver, controller. We analyzed magnitude and phase of radio wave that according to antenna array. In addition, We analyzed output signal of tracking receiver so that we could present the tracking range. Tracking receiver was designed in one path instead of two path of azimuth and elevation in order to minimize the difference occurred in two path. We hadResults of -3~+3degrees of tracking range.

  • In this paper, We investigated the effects of mesh structure variations of meshed ground on MCAA(Microstrip Comb Array Antenna). First, we designed MCAA in 24GHz ISM band and we investigated the variations of the gain and the SLL(Side Lobe Level) of the MCAA as we varied the mesh structure of the meshed ground. We varied two variables, mesh size and unfilled rato, which is defined as no metal area ratio in mesh for the investigation. We investigated two types of MCAA. Those are flat MCAA composed of flat radiator and tapered MCAA composed of tapered radiator. Both the antenna gains of flat MCAA and tapered MCAA are decreased as the unfilled rato increased. However, increase of mesh size made more dramatic decrease in antenna gain than increase of unfilled rato. The antenna SLL showed similar trend. But tapered MCAA affected more severely by variation of mesh size than flat MCAA.

  • An antenna was designed and manufactured for the DBS receiver system. This antenna is a planar or flat antenna which shows many advantages over the conventional parabolic antenna such as higher aperture efficiency, easier installation and improved aesthetics to name a few. The antenna is a novel design employing microstrip annular ring resonating antenna elements and a radial waveguide feeder network. The LNB(Low Noise Blockdown Converter) is can integrate with the antenna iしt the back of the radial waveguide. The 35cm diameter antenna works at 31.8dBi minimum gain which implies an aperture efficiency of around $80\%$.

  • In this paper, the design, fabrication and experiment on a planar array antenna with a flat-topped radiation pattern for a mobile base station antenna were described. The current distribution of an antenna aperture, which is easily realizable in a feeding network compared with the conventional one of sin(x)/x was optimized for shaping a desired flat-topped radiation pattern. The planar array antenna designed in this paper has a rectangular lattice and is composed of array elements of 16${\times}$8. Each radiating element, which is a microstrip element fed coaxially, has a linear vertical polarization and the feed network which use a Wilkinson power divider and a 180$^{\circ}$ ring hybrid coupler as a base element is designed. The flat-topped radiation pattern with 90$^{\circ}$ is shaped by 16 array elements with the element spacing of 0.55 λ$_{ο}$ in the azimuth plane, and the normal radiation pattern with 10$^{\circ}$ is shaped by 8 array elements with the element spacing of 0.65 λ$_{ο}$ in the elevation plane. Also, the planar array antenna is symmetrically divided into four parts. It consists of one hundred-twenty-eight radiating elements, thirty-two 1-4 column dividers, low 1-8 row dividers and one 1-4 input power divider. In order to verify electrical performances of the planar way antenna proposed in this paper, the experimental breadboard operated in tile band of 1.92~2.17 GHz(IMT2000 band) was fabricated, and its experimental results were a good agreement with simulation ones.

  • In this paper, the beam steering dipole phased array antenna systems for IMT-2000 base station have been designed. The designed beam steering dipole phased array antenna systems are constituted by the antenna part and the beam steering control system part. The antenna part is designed by the proposed flat dipole for the broadband characteristics, and the 8${\times}$8 dipole array antenna is constructed by the proposed flat dipole for the directional radiation pattern. Besides the vertical power divider is designed for the vertical power distribution. The beam steering control system part is designed the horizontal power divider for the horizontal power distribution, the 4-bit phase shifters and the driving circuit of phase shifters for the horizontal beam tilting. In order to evaluate a performance of the designed antenna systems, they were fabricated and the radiation characteristics were measured. From the measured results, we found that the horizontal beams were tilted by the each control signals, and the measured radiation characteristics showed good agreement with the design goals.

  • In this paper, we proposed a flate-plate antenna employing semi-annular slots for satellite broadcast reception. The radiating element of the antenna is dual annular slots fed by a strip dipole, which have a wider bandwidth than the rectangular slot. A $16{\times}16$ array antenna is designed using stripline T-junction power dividers. Measurements of the fabricated antenna show a gain of 28.0$\~$29.5 dB in 11.7$\~$12.8 GHz frequency range.
