In this paper, the architecture of a safe stove with an automatic fire suppression function using a sound wave fire extinguisher has been proposed and developed for the first time. A microcontroller connected to a fire sensor detects and suppresses a fire by driving a fire extinguisher. The sound wave fire extinguisher is composed of a speaker and collimator, and is driven by a driver module including an audio amplifier. The attenuation of the sound wave is reduced by preventing the sound diffusion with an enclosure surrounding a stove. The frequency of the sound wave is set to 50 Hz, and the sound pressure of 93 dBA is measured at the distance of 0.5 m. It takes maximum 8 and 15 seconds to suppress the flame from 7-cc and 14-cc flammable liquid, respectively, which corresponds to 24% and 42% of the natural extinguishing time. Since the proposed safe stove is non-toxic and leaves no residues over the conventional ones, it would combine with various home appliances to suppress early-stage fires and prevent fire expansion.
A total of 19 elevators for evacuation were installed in the Lotte World Tower and it is planned to operate the shuttle using the manual key from five refuge floors to the 1st floor in an emergency. In the event of a fire or other disaster, it is necessary to conduct intensive analysis to determine how much RSET reduction could be achieved using the evacuation elevator compared to the existing evacuation plans. When the optimal transportation sharing ratio by the evacuation elevators was 40% at the Lotte World Tower, the RSET of the evacuation scenario in parallel with the elevators in the entire building was calculated to be 1 hour and 2 minutes. The RSET of a conventional evacuation scenario (Walking along the stairs without using the elevators) was calculated to be 1 hour 29 minutes, therefore, the former evacuation scenario were found to have a shortening effect of approximately 27 minutes compared to the latter. On the other hand, to maintain this effect, each part of the evacuation route using the elevator must have the capability to protect the evacuee from any hazards caused by fires, such as smoke, flame, and radiant heat during the evacuation. Moreover, the evacuation route should be continuous from the residence position of the elevator user to the final evacuation site, and be recognized easily.

Hydrogen in hydrogen-electric vehicles has a wide range of combustion and explosion ranges, and is a combustible gas with a very fast flame propagation speed, so it has the risk of leakage, diffusion, ignition, and explosion. The fuel tank has a Thermally active Pressure Relief Device (TPRD) to reduce the risk of explosion and other explosions, and in the event of an accident, hydrogen inside the tank is released outside before an explosion or fire occurs. However, if an accident occurs in a semi-closed space such as an underground parking lot, the flow of air flow is smaller than the open space, which can cause the concentration of hydrogen gas emitted from the TPRD to accumulate above the explosion limit. Therefore, in this study, the leakage rate and concentration of hydrogen over time were analyzed according to the diameter of the nozzle of the TPRD. The diameter of the nozzle was considered to be 1 mm, 2.5 mm and 5 mm, and ccording to the diameter of the nozzle, the concentration of hydrogen in the underground parking lot increases in a faster time with the diameter of the nozzle, and the maximum value is also analyzed to be larger with the diameter of the nozzle. In underground parking lots where air currents are stagnant, hydrogen concentrations above LFL (Lowe Flammability Limit) were analyzed to be distributed around the nozzle, and it was analyzed that they did not exceed UFL (Upper Flammability Limit).
Polymer bags, metallic canisters, and glass bottles have been used as containers for analyzing the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air. In this study, various sampling containers were compared to investigate the short-term stability of VOCs, that is, from the time they are sampled to the time they are analyzed. Polyvinyl fluoride (PVF), polypropylene (PP), polyester aluminum (PE-Al) bags, canisters, and glass bottles were used as sample containers. A 100 nmol/mol standard gas mixture of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m-xylene, styrene, and o-xylene was used for the VOC comparison. Changes in the concentrations of samples stored for 10~20 day in each container were measured using a thermal desorption-gas chromatograph-flame ionization detector (TD-GC-FID). As a result, VOCs stored in a canister and two kinds of amber glass bottles have shown immaterial decreases in concentration in one week, and more than 80 % of the initial concentration was maintained for two weeks. In the case of polymer bags, the concentration of all VOCs, except benzene and toluene, were remarkably decreased below 70% of the initial concentration in one day. Particularly, ethylbenzene, xylene, and styrene have shown dramatic decreases in concentration below 30 % of the initial concentration in all polymer bags in one day.
Purpose: In this study, the characteristics of fire occurrence according to ignition heat sources such as operating equipment, cigarette/lighter fire, and flame/fire were analyzed. Method: One-way ANOVA and cross-analysis were used to analyze the characteristics of fire occurrence by verifying the difference between the ignition environment, fire damage status and scale, and cause of ignition according to the ignition heat source. Result: The fire occurrence characteristics were analyzed through As a result of the analysis, it was found that fires caused by operating devices occurred more frequently on weekdays than other ignition heat sources, and the number of victims and the number of victims were the highest, so mobilization of firefighting power and property damage were the greatest. The initial ignition was generated by electric and electronic devices, and the combustion was expanded by the synthetic resin. For fires caused by cigarette and lighter fires, the most fires occurred on Saturdays and Sundays, and the mobilization of the police force was more characteristic than the mobilization of the firefighting force. In particular, it was found that the initial ignition and combustion expansion were caused by paper, wood, and hay. Fires caused by sparks and sparks occurred most frequently on Saturdays and Sundays, and initial ignition and combustion expansion were found to be caused by paper, wood, and hay. In particular, it showed the characteristic that it occurred in the place farthest from the fire station. The common characteristic of all ignition heat sources was that the fire occurred most frequently in the afternoon time, and the fire type was predominantly the building structure fire, and only the ignition point was burned the most. Conclusion: In order to prevent fire and minimize damage, it is necessary to analyze the tendency of fire occurrence and to prepare appropriate preparations according to the fire occurrence factors. In order to analyze the characteristics of fire occurrence using public data in the future, it is necessary to standardize disaster data and to open and activate data.

In the present study, isothermal stabilization processes for rayon fabrics were performed at two relatively low temperatures $180^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$ for a long period of time. The results of weight loss, dimensional shrinkage, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopic observations studied with the rayon fabrics before and after the isothermal stabilization indicated that the chemical and physical changes of rayon precursor fibers proceeded continuously and slowly at the stabilization temperature below $200^{\circ}C$. And the pre-treatment with four different chemical compounds done prior to stabilization process influenced differently the characteristics of rayon fabrics. As a result, it was noticed that under the given stabilization conditions, $H_3PO_4$ and $Na_3PO_4$ played a role in catalyzing the stabilization reaction of rayon fabric whereas $NH_4Cl$ and $ZnCl_2$ played a role in delaying or retarding the reaction. $H_3PO_4$ showed the lowest percent weight loss of the fabric in the second stabilization conducted at $350^{\circ}C$. It was considered that phosphoric acid, which has a function of flame retardant, contributed to retarding somewhat the subsequent reaction even in the second stabilization step.
A real-scale combustion test was conducted on a vinyl flooring in a divided space, with 50 mL of an inflammable liquid sprayed on it. The combustion behavior of the vinyl flooring was studied in real time, and the carbonization patterns of the surface and cross-sections of the carbonized vinyl floor were analyzed. When the flame ignited by gasoline reached its peak, a continuously flaming region, intermittent flaming region, plume region, etc., were formed. The combustion of 50 mL gasoline on vinyl flooring took 26 s, and a halo pattern was observed. This test involved spraying kerosene evenly on the vinyl flooring and attempting to ignite the flooring using a gas torch, which failed. After the combustion of the vinyl flooring was complete, its carbonized range was measured to be 600 mm in length and 380 mm in width, and the carbonized area was 1000 ㎟. Heat transformed the coated layer of surface of the carbonized vinyl flooring into a carbonized layer, which became harder. The analysis of cross-section of the boundary surface of the carbonized vinyl flooring using a stereoscopic microscope showed that the vinyl flooring was bubbling, and that the white boundary layer at the bottom of the coated layer had disappeared.
A real A real scale fire test was performed in accordance with KS F ISO 9705 test method to investigate the combustion characteristics of glass wool sandwich panels. To do this, six kinds of specimens having different density and thickness were examined. The glass sandwich panels were installed inside the room, which had internal dimensions of 2.4 m wide${\times}3.6m$ deep${\times}2.4m$ high. also, combustion characteristic are determined through the exposure of specimens to flame by the propane gas burner has a capacity of 100 kW (10 minutes) and 300 kW (10 minutes) for total 25 minutes of test time. Results of the real sale fire test, it was found that maximum HRR of each specimen was 333.2~365.5 kW, maximum heat flux was 12.4~12.9 kW/$m^2$ And, maximum internal temperature for all specimens was not over $500^{\circ}C$. During the real scale fire test, flash-over didn't occur and the difference by density and thickness of specimen was not found from the results of HRR, heat flux, and internal temperature measurement.

Objectives: Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a colorless, water-miscible organic liquid with low viscosity at standard temperature and pressure. THF has been used as a solvent and a precursor for various syntheses of polymers. However, THF is known to irritate to the eyes, skin and mucus membranes. Overexposure by inhalation, ingestion or skin contact may produce nausea, dizziness, headaches, respiratory irritation and possible skin burns. The purpose of this study is to evaluate of the worker exposure and characteristics of workers in the workplaces that use or manufacture THF. Methods: Sixteen factories in Korea, which manufacture or use THF, were selected for this study and a total of 130 air samples including 104 time-weighted average (TWA) samples and 26 short-term exposure limit (STEL) samples, were collected. Air samples were collected with charcoal tube (100mg/50mg) and analyzed by gas chromatograph/flame ionization detector(GC/FID). Results: The TWA concentration of THF was 16.05ppm (GM) at PS script printing, 2.32ppm (GM) at PVC stabilizer, 1.03ppm (GM) at Lithium triethylborohydride, 0.63ppm (GM) at Polytetramethylene ether glycol(PTMEG), 0.42ppm (GM) at Manufacturing THF, 0.13ppm (GM) at Glue and 0.12ppm (GM) at synthetic rubber/resins. Two out of sampes for PS script printing exceeded 50ppm as 8-hour exposure limit of MOEL. The short term exposure to THF was 54.77ppm (GM) at PS script printing, 17.10ppm (GM) at PTMEG, 13.76ppm (GM) at Manufacturing THF, 2.86ppm (GM) at Lithium triethylborohydride, 0.87ppm (GM) at synthetic rubber/resins and 0.13ppm (GM) Glue. We found that the highest exposure process for both the TWA and STEL samples was PS script process. Two samples exceeded 100ppm as short term exposure limit of Ministry of Employment and Labor(MOEL). Conclusions: Characteristic of STEL concentration for THF is considerably different from TWA concentration in workplaces because workers could exposure high concentration of THF in a moment when they work irregularly schedule. So exposure controls for momentary works have to be prepared, and considered the skin absorption and inhale of THF.

This study was performed using a laminar flow reactor that could replicate the combustion environment of pulverized coal in a blast furnace. Since a pulverized coal injection system was developed for iron making, the combustion characteristics of pulverized coal have been important in the iron and steel industry. The flame structure, particle temperature, and exhaust gas were investigated for different types of coal. The results of this study demonstrated that the combustion characteristics of coal are influenced by several properties of individual coals. In particular, the CO emission and volatile matter content of individual coals were found to have a strong influence on their combustion characteristics. Thus, this study found the properties of the coals to be significant and focused on the particle temperature and CO and $CO_2$ emissions.
