The feasibility study into the development of turbine spinners, which start up the turbo-pump, has been carried out and the design requirements and parameters ranges have been presented. Turbine spinners use the solid propellant as such composite propellant based AN compound with high energy plasticizers, coolants, and phase stabilizer which relieves a sensible volume change due to the phase transformation of AN near room temperature. Propellants which have a homing rate of $0.2{\sim}0.3\;mm/s$ and pressure exponent ranged from 0.3 to 0.6, showed stable burn-out in the standard motor tests. Both the magnitude of ignition energy and its thermal transfer mechanism have been proved to have a tangible effect on the ignition of the pyre starter, and the results of this study showed that a flame temperature of 1400K would be quite adequate to get a stable ignition for the AN composite propellant.

The Because of its high thermal efficiency, the direct injection (DI) diesel engine has emerged as a promising potential candidate in the field of transportation. However, the amount of nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) increases in the local high-temperature regions and that of particulate matter (PM) increases in the diffusion flame region during diesel combustion. In the de-$NO_x$ system the Lean $NO_x$ Trap (LNT) catalyst is used, which absorbs $NO_x$ under lean exhaust gas conditions and releases it in rich conditions. This technology can provide a high $NO_x$-conversion efficiency, but the right amount of reducing agent should be supplied to the catalytic converter at the right time. In this research, the emission characteristics of a diesel engine equipped with a micro-reformer that acts as a reductants-supplying equipment were investigated using an LNT system, and the effects of the exhaust-gas temperature were also studied.
This study is about fire resistance performance of wood framed lightweight wall including a middle lintel as a traditional wall form in Korea. The target wall is non-loadbearing system which constructed with $38{\times}89$ mm ($2"{\times}4"$) wood frame and fireproof gypsum board covering, including a middle lintel made of $150{\times}150$ mm section glue-laminated timber. As a test results, all specimens have showed fire resistant performance over 90 minutes and tests were maintained until flame occuring on Specimen-l, 2, 3 at 91 min, 97 min and 98 min respectively. Fire resistance of the heat side gypsum board was 45 minutes and charring rate of middle lintel was equivalant with that of usual timber. The wood stud inside wall system showed relatively quick combution characteristic when exposed to high temperature with no temperature rising delaying time caused by moisture evaporation because of the dehydration preceded during the early period of fire side gypsum board resist to heat.
Tetramethylorthosilicate (TMOS) and silica nanopowder were synthesized from the waste silicon sludge containing 15% weight of silicon powder. TMOS, a precursor of silica nanopowder, was firstly prepared from the waste silicon sludge by catalytic chemical reaction. The maximum recovery of the TMOS was 100% after 5 hrs regardless of reaction temperature above $130^{\circ}C$. But the initial reaction rate became faster while the reaction temperature was higher than $150^{\circ}C$. As the methanol feedrate Increased from 0.8 ml/min to 1.4 ml/min, the yield of reaction was not varied after 3 hrs. Then, silica nanopowder was synthesized from the synthesized TMOS by flame spray pyrolysis. The morphology of as-prepared silica nanopowder was spherical and non-aggregated. The average particle diameters ranged from 9 nm to 30 nm and were in proportional to the precursor feed rate, and precursor concentration.
This is a study on the relation of window glass breaking time, shape, and vent condition in a compartment fire through the experiment. We recognize the phenomenon that window glass breakage in a compartment fire be arose from the thermal stresses due to the temperature temperature difference was 233.4$^{\circ}C$ for test 1-3, 138$^{\circ}C$ for text 2-1, 83.6$^{\circ}C$ for test 2-2. The interior test 2-2, 400.9$^{\circ}C$ for test 2-3. so if the flame didn't reach at the surface of window glass, the breakage of glass occure at 40$0^{\circ}C$~50$0^{\circ}C$. when the fire size reached to 1541.14kW, the window might be broken by thermal stress. But window glass was not collapsed.
This paper is a study on IoT based map inside the building and fire perception system using microprocessor and LABVIEW program. The smart control system implemented in this paper is designed to identify the location of fire by using microprocessor, flame detection sensor, carbon monoxide sensor and temperature sensor, and to guide the optimal travel route through Zigbee communication. And the proposed system uses QR code to interoperate with smartphone. The coordinator control verified that the sensor value of the smart control system installed through the LABVIEW software was confirmed. The IoT based control system studied in this paper was implemented with Arduino mega board and LABVIEW software, and the operation status was confirmed by display device and coordination.
Experimental and numerical studies on the fire characteristics according to the distance between the fire source and sidewall under the over-ventilated fire conditions. A 1/3 reduced ISO 9705 room was constructed and spruce wood cribs were used as fuel. Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) was used for fire simulations to understand the phenomenon inside the compartment. As a result, the mass loss rate and heat release rate were increased due to the thermal feedback effect of the wall in the compartment fire compared to the open fire. As the distance between the fire source and sidewall was reduced, the major fire characteristics, such as maximum mass loss rate, heat release rate, fire growth rate, temperature, and heat flux, were increased despite the limitations of air entrainment into the flame. In particular, a significant change in these physical quantities was observed for the case of a fire source against the sidewall. In addition, the vertical distribution of temperature was changed considerably due to a change in the flow structure inside the compartment according to the distance between the fire source and sidewall.
Commercial gas stoves feed primary air to the burner and burn the fuel-air mixture in a partially premixed combustion. This mechanism produces carbon monoxide during combustion. In this study, design parameters of a commercial gas stove were optimized by considering the carbon monoxide emission. Gas consumption rate, carbon monoxide emission, and water boiling temperature as a heating performance were determined. Carbon monoxide emission was measured using a Korean Industrial Standards standard collector. Water boiling temperature was measured by first soaking the pot in water for approximately 10 min and then heating the pot filled with water. A thermocouple was installed inside the pot. Carbon monoxide increased as the nozzle diameter was increased and the burner-pot height was decreased. This result was due to the insufficient mixing between the fuel and air. Heating performance was enhanced when the nozzle diameter was increased and the burner-pot height was decreased. However, the heating performance deteriorated when the nozzle diameter was 1.8 mm and the burner-pot height was reduced to 50 mm. This phenomenon was due to the formation of a flame on the side of the pot. A merit factor was defined to find the optimal design parameters to satisfy gas consumption rate, carbon monoxide emission, and heating performance. Optimal design values were established to be a nozzle diameter of 1.5 mm and a burner-pot height of 60 mm.
Halogen-based fire suppressing agents have environmental problems because they cause the stratospheric ozone depletion and globe warming. Hence, fire suppression system using fine water mist became the center of interest as a substitution of halon. As a study about this, it is in progress to make the optimum droplet size by using water mist nozzles and to improve the extinguishing performance of water mist by using additives. Before this study, the extinguishing time of ethanol and n-heptane pool fire was measured with changing of water mist droplet size, flow density, discharge pressure, and fire size. In this study, on adding the additives to improve physical and chemical extinguishing performance of water mist, the extinguishing performance would evaluate and the optimum condition would find out. As a result, in case of ethanol pan 1 pool fire, the extinguishing time of the water mist by adding of 2.5 wt% NaCl and 0.3% AFFF got shorter 27% and 60% than the pure water mist. Adding of AFFF was to decrease the flame temperature by forming thin film on the fuel surface and to decrease the evaporation of n-heptane fuel. In case of NaCl, alkali salt crystals showed on the flame surface.

In Korea, a large portion of aerial power-transmission cables is installed in the mountains. In the case of a fire in the mountains, steel wires coated with zinc and aluminum wires of those power cables exposed to the fire or near around will be deteriorated by the blaze and the high temperature. Deterioration proceeds by interactions of a variety of factors like quality, manufacturing process, the condition of installation and exposure environment of a wire, and so on. Generally, the characteristic of a conductor affect by a forest fire can not be analyzed without the effect through simulating a forest fire. However, there are little research accomplishments of that kind of simulation about it, and there's been no analysis of a sample exposed to an actual forest fire. This thesis shows the experimental results that apply to a new wire by an artificial flame-maker because it's difficult to directly analyze the characteristic of deterioration by a forest fire. Those results include the intensity of extension and wrench for a conductor. In addition, there's been an experiment and analysis about the mechanical characteristics of the wire of ACSR 480[$\textrm{mm}^2$] which was removed from Pohang area by a forest fire. Then, the database will be made to predict the state of deteriorated wires by a forest fire using those two data, and data necessary to diagnose the life state of an ACSR wire affected by a forest fire will be given.
