트리클로로 락톤 변성폴리에스테르/IPDI-Isocyanurate를 사용한 폴리우레탄 난연도료의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characterization of Polyurethane Flame Retardant Coatings Using Trichloro Lactone Modified Polyesters/IPDI-Isocyanurate)

  • It is attempted to develop flame retardant polyurethane coatings, which have received significant attention in recent years. It is the purpose of this study to synthesize new reactive polyurethane coatings containing halogen. Lactone based modified polyester polyols, using trichlorobenzoic acid as chlorine moiety (TBAOs) were synthesized. These polyesters were cured with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI)-isocyanurate at room temperature (TBAPUs). Physical properties of these flame retardant coatings were similar with those of non-flame retardant coatings. The flammability of coatings was strongly dependent on the chlorine contents. We found that the increasing chlorine contents showed better flame retarding properties and that, however, they also resulted in more smog generation during combustion. The detailed results of flammability test using various methods indicated $24{\sim}26%$ in LOI and $3.7{\sim}5.3\;cm$ char length in $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner method.

  • UV 화염감기의 분진분위기에서의 성능저하를 고찰하기 위하여 세제분말, 탄진 및 분말 소화약제의 분진운을 형성하였고 LPG 및 가솔린 화염을 사용하여 UV 화염감지기의 감지성능을 고찰하였다. 분진 분위기 하에서의 UV 화염감지기의 성능을 분진의 농도와 분진층의 거리가 증가함에 따라 뚜렷한 증가를 보였으며, 분진의 화학적, 물리적 특성에 커다란 영향을 받았다. 따라서 UV 화염감지기를 분진 분위기에서 사용한 경우 특별한 주의를 기울일 필요가 있는 것으로 사려된다.

  • Large eddy simulation(LES) methodology used to model the isothermal swirling flows in a dump combustor and the turbulent premixed flame in a model gas turbine combustor. The LES solver was implemented on parallel computer consisting 16 processors. In isothermal flow simulation, the results was compared with that of ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model as well as experimental data, in order to verify the capability of LES code. To model the turbulent premixed flame in a gas turbine, the G-equation flamelet model was used. The results showd that LES and RANS well predicted the mean velocity field of a non-swirling flow. However, in swirling flow, LES showed a better performance in predicting the mean axial and azimuthal velocities, and the central recirculation zone than those of RANS. In a model gas turbine combustor, the operation condition of high pressure and temperature induced the different phenomena, such as flame length and flow-field information, comparing with the condition of ambient pressure and temperature. Finally, it was identified that the flame and heat release oscillations are related to the vortex shedding generated by swirl flow and pressure wave propagation.

인 함유 벤조산 변성폴리에스테르와 HDI-Trimer에 의한 PU 난연도료의 제조 및 도막물성 (Preparation and Physical Properties of PU Flame-Retardant Coatings Using Benzoic Acid Modified Polyester Containing Phosphorus and HDI-Trimer)

  • PU flame-retardant coatings (APHD) containing phosphorous were prepared by blending of hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer, white pigment, dispersing agent, flowing agent, and previously prepared benzoic acid modified polyester (APTB) that contains phosphorous. Physical properties of the prepared APHD were examined. With the introduction of BZA (contained in APTB), the film viscosity and film hardness of APHD decreased. With the introduction of caprolactone group, the flexibility, impact resistance, accelerated weathering resistance of APTBs increased. Flame retardancy of the coatings was tested. In a vertical burning method, APHD shows 210${\sim}$313 seconds, and in a $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner method, shows 1.3${\sim}$4.0$cm^2$ of char length, which indicates that the coatings are good flame-retardant coatings. Moreover, the amount of afterglow and flame retardancy of the coatings are decreased with increasing BZA content.

정전기 방전에너지에 따른 LPG/공기 혼합물의 폭발특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigations on Explosion Characteristics of LPG/Air Mixture by Electrostatic Discharge Energies)

  • Experimental investigations were performed to examine the effects of different electrostatic discharge ignition energies on LPG/air mixture explosions in an explosion chamber. The chamber consisted of 500 mm in length, with a $100{\times}100mm^2$ cross section. Three different ignition energies were used: 0.30 mJ, 46 mJ and 98 mJ. Flame propagations were recorded by a high speed video camera. The results of flame speed and pressure obtained from the different ignition energies were discussed. It was found that as the energy increased, different flame initiations occurred. This caused the time interval in both the flame and pressure developments. It was also found that the flame speed and the pressure were less sensitive to both 0.30 mJ and 46 mJ, except for the ignition energy of 98 mJ.

  • Turbulent premixed flames were a subject of many researches for a number of decades. Especially, Borghi suggested a manificent diagram classifying turbulent combustion reasions and Lipatnikov and Chomiak modified this diagram. But this diagram has difficulties tn defining a flame thickness and velocity and measuring integral length scales In addition, recently experimental techniques are being developed, so we can accurately use PIV diagnostics measuring 2D velocity field instead of LDV and make good use of PLIF techniques for obtaining the flame information. In this study, according to developing techniques, suggest a new diagram replacing the existing Borghi diagram. Simultaneous PIV/OH PLIF measurements are used, which measure a shear strain rate and a location of flames, respectively. The shear strain rate represents turbulence and the OH signal indicates the flame information, but there is no geometric Information which is very important to flame quenching. Hence, to consider the geometric information, calculate fractal dimensions of the OH images. So the diagram suggested in this research has three axes which consist of strain rate, OH signal, and fractal dimension and can classify turbulent premixed flames.

  • 고속으로 흡입되는 공기를 산소원으로 이용하는 공기 흡입추진기관에서 해결해야 할 과제 중에 하나는 화염 안정화이다. 블라프보디와 같이 유동 감속장치를 설치하여 와류에 의한 재순환 영역을 만들어 주는 방법이 대표적인 방법이다. 최근에는 유동 벽면에 캐비티를 설치하여 화염을 안정화 시키는 것이 안정화 영역을 넓이는 효율적인 방안으로 대두되고 있는데, 캐비티에서의 유동 박리와 재접촉, 압력과 진동을 포함하여 길이와 깊이 비 등에 대한 영향 등이 조사 발표되고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 공기 흡입추진기관의 연구 개발과 함께, 선행 기술로서 캐비티를 이용한 화염 안정화에 대하여는 아직도 연구조사 되어야 할 과제가 많이 있다.

확산 화염 반응기에서의 TiO2 입자생성 및 전달현상 (Characteristics of TiO2 Particle Generation and Transport in Diffusion Flame Reactor)

  • We prepared the nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles by the diffusion flame reactor and investigated the effects of several process variables on the generation and transport properties of $TiO_2$ particle. As the length from the tip of diffusion flame reactor increases, the size of $TiO_2$ particle increases by the coagulation between particles. The structure of $TiO_2$ particles prepared is almost found to be anatase. It was found that the $TiO_2$ particle size depends more largely on the change of reactor temperature than on the change of inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration.

영상처리 기술을 이용한 연소상태 진단 (Flame Diagnosis using Image Processing Technique)

  • Recent trend changes a criterion for evaluation of burner that environmental problem is raised as global issue. For efficient driving problem, the higher thermal efficiency and the lower oxygen in exhaust gas, burner is evaluated the better. For environmental problem, burner must satisfy $NO_{X}$ limit and CO limit. Consequently, 'good burner' means on whose thermal efficiency is high under the constraint of $NO_{X}$ and CO consistency. To make existing burner satisfy recent criterion, it is highly recommended to develop feedback control scheme whose output is the consistency of $NO_{X}$ and CO. This paper describes development of real time flame diagnosis technique that evaluate and diagnose combustion state such as consistency of components in exhaust gas, stability of flame in quantitative sense. This study focuses on wave length of luminescence from chemical reaction measurement of the luminescence via optical measuring apparatus and derive correlation with consistency of components in exhaust gas by image processing technique.

케이블 화재의 화염전파 해석을 위한 FDS 모델의 격자민감도 평가 (Assessment of Grid Sensitivity in the FDS Field Model to Simulate the Flame Propagation of an Electric Cable Fire)

  • The present study has been conducted to examine the effect of grid resolution on the predicted results for electric cable fire using pyrolysis model in FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator, version 5). The grid independent test for different grid resolutions has been performed for a PE coating cable and the grid resolution is defined by the non-dimensional characteristic length of fire and mean grid size. The calculated maximum heat release rate and mean flame spread rate were almost constant for higher grid resolution of 20${\sim}$25 and the computing time for the grid resolution takes approximately 20hours to solve flame propagation with pyrolysis model. The geometrical simplification of a electric cable dose not greatly affect on the maximum heat release rate and flame spread rate and the rectangular approximation of cable shape gives acceptable result comparing with the round cable with stepwise grid.
