Flagship store opening is one of the most frequently reported retail news in which it is widely used to promote a new store opening. The purpose of this study was to explore the flagship stores on media reports. Flagship store cases were collected from the news article database of the largest internet portal in Korea. A total of 210 cases were collected and content-analyzed. Though various business types of flagship stores were observed, most were in fashion. The most common characteristic of the flagship cases was the location of the prime sites in a metropolitan city. Global luxury and designer fashion brands met most characteristics, but many flagship stores were not more than a brand-owned store. The flagship store term is emphasized with dramatic expressions and various promotional events for media interests and in turn for marketing communication effect.
In the face of globalization and other recent developments, flagship universities in developing countries must deal with significant challenges to come up with new strategies to serve their respective countries better. They have to confront the issue of international university ranking and its implication on social relevance. They have to remain at the forefront of research as research universities and must lead in promoting internationalization of higher education. More importantly, flagship universities must engage actively in industry-academe-government collaboration as a necessary approach towards strengthening their nations’ innovation systems. This paper is at best conceptual and takes a cursory look at the role of flagship universities in developing countries, citing the case of the University of the Philippines and its strategy towards fulfilling its role as the country’s only national university.

The selection of a flagship industry is based on whether the industry's developmental impact is great and whether the industry can be the center of the national economy. Here, a ripple effect may be derived by analyzing the forward and backward linkage effects, but in the case of industries that are the centerpieces of the national economy, each researcher reported different results. Consequently, they could not agree on their flagship industry despite belonging to the same time. This study presents a prestige centrality of network analysis as a way of analyzing an industry, which was the center of the national economy, and performed empirical analysis utilizing the 2013 I-O Table. The analysis showed that the industries classified as those with high centrality include the energy industry, which is essential for economic development, can create a synergy effect with other industries, such as the transportation industry, industries with a high level of export and employment, such as electronics and chemicals, and industries for domestic demand, such as wholesale and retail, food services and accommodation.
Luxury fashion brands have begun to aggressively introduce art to justify inherent values such as tradition, craftsmanship, and exclusivity that make it difficult for luxury brands to uphold awe-inspiring atmosphere. Artification refers to a process in which non-artistic factors are transformed into art or artistic category under the influence of artistic thoughts or actions. In addition, the consumption space provided by brands have become important as the importance of substantial shopping experience has increased. Especially, since the artification is actively utilized in flagship stores in the communication interface with consumers. This study uses a literature review and case studies to typify and derive the meaning of the method for artification at a flagship store that effectively conveys brand identity and value. The types of artification at a luxury fashion brand flagship store are divided into pursuing brand permanency and maintaining brand exclusivity that also provides a new value of permanency like a work of art to a luxury fashion brand. Basic values, such as scarcity are declining, reviving and justifying the value threatened by the popularization of luxury.
Chesbrough(2003, 2006) studied Open Innovation about not only IT advanced firms such as Intel or IBM, but also P&G or 3M which are traditional manufacturing firms. As West(2006) described, we can analyze open innovation in several levels such as firm level, industry level, sector, or cluster. Most of all, we could know that according to belonging industries, open innovation effect of firms are different based of technology life cycle, or modular or non modular architecture(JHJ YUN, 2010; JHJ YUN, 2009). In this research, we will study open innovation of Korea aeroplane industry. Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd is the flagship company in Korean aeroplane industry. We will study the open innovation relationship between Korean Aerospace Industries, Ltd and supplying firms based on Case study and Interview method. Our research question is this. Do supplying firms for Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd adopt open innovation strategy? If then, what kind of aspects do the open strategies have?
Quantum technology is undergoing a revolution. Theoretically, strange phenomena of quantum mechanics, such as superposition and entanglement, can enable high-performance computing, unconditionally secure communication, and high-precision sensing. Such theoretical possibilities have been examined in the last few decades. The goal now is to apply these quantum advantages to daily life. Europe, where quantum mechanics was born a 100 years ago, is struggling to be placed at the front of this quantum revolution. Thus, the European Commission has decided to invest 1 billion EUR over 10 years and has initiated the ramp-up phase with 20 projects in the fields of communication, simulation, sensing and metrology, computing, and fundamental science. This program, approved by the European Commission, is called the "Quantum Technology Flagship" program. Its first objective is to consolidate and expand European scientific leadership and excellence in quantum research. Its second objective is to kick-start a competitive European industry in quantum technology and develop future global industrial leaders. Its final objective is to make Europe a dynamic and attractive region for innovative and collaborative research and business in quantum technology. This program also trains next-generation quantum engineers to achieve a world-leading position in quantum technology. However, the most important principle of this program is to realize quantum technology and introduce it to the market. To this end, the program emphasizes that academic institutes and industries in Europe have to collaborate to research and develop quantum technology. They believe that without commercialization, no technology can be developed to its full potential. In this study, we review the strategy of the Quantum Europe Flagship program and the 20 projects of the ramp-up phase.

Patent indicators were used to analyze the movements of local industries in order to derive blank technologies due to rapid changes in technology in the 4th Industrial Revolution and to discover promising technologies. Currently, Changwon-si is gathering a lot of technical information to develop hydrogen electric vehicle technology as a future regional flagship industry to discover it as a promising technology in the future. Collecting technical information has many problems in terms of time and cost due to classification methods, technical trends, and similar technologies. Therefore, a systematic classification of technical information and a method for easily deriving technical trends are needed. In this paper, we analyzed the blank technology and promising technology trends for the future core industries of the region through the method of measuring the growth rate of patents and the frequency of patent application through the patent indicators.
Industrial measurement technologies are essential in the semiconductor and display fields, which are our flagship industries. These technologies are also critical to the future rechargeable battery industry and smart factories. Although existing industrial measurement technologies have been developed primarily for 2D measurement, the demand for 3D measurement technology is increasing gradually in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this paper, to understand the trends in industrial measurement technologies, we introduce various industrial measurement fields and representative technologies.

MTO (Make to Order) is a manufacturing process in which manufacturing starts only after a customer's order is received. Manufacturing after receiving customer's orders means to start a pull-type supply chain operation because manufacturing is performed when demand is confirmed, i.e. being pulled by demand (The opposite business model is to manufacture products for stock MTS (Make to Stock), which is push-type production). There are also BTO (Build to Order) and ATO (Assemble To Order) in which assembly starts according to demand. Lean manufacturing by MTO is very efficient system. Nevertheless, the process industry, generally, which has a high fixed cost burden due to large-scale investment is suitable for mass production of small pieces or 'mass customization' defined recently. The process industry produces large quantities at one time because of the lack of manufacturing flexibility due to long time for model change or job change, and high loss during line-down (shutdown). As a result, it has a lot of inventory and costs are increased. In order to reduce the cost due to the characteristics of the process industry, which has a high fixed cost per hour, it operates a stock production system in which it is made and sold regardless of the order of the customer. Therefore, in a business environment where the external environment changes greatly, the inventory is not sold and it becomes obsolete. As a result, the company's costs increase, profits fall, and it make more difficult to survive in the competition. Based on the customer's order, we have built a new method for order system to meet the characteristics of the process industry by producing it as a high-profitable model. The design elements are designed by deriving the functions to satisfy the Y by collecting the internal and external VOC (voice of customer), and the design elements are verified through the conversion function. And the Y is satisfied through the pilot test verified and supplemented. By operating this make to order system, we have reduced bad inventories, lowered costs, and improved lead time in terms of delivery competitiveness. Make to order system in the process industry is effective for the display glass industry, for example, B and C groups which are non-flagship models, have confirmed that the line is down when there is no order, and A group which is flagship model, have confirmed stock production when there is no order.
The use of Engineered Wood Systems (EWS), especially mass-timber, as a structural alternative or complement to steel and concrete is gaining interest and acceptance across different sectors of architecture, engineering, and construction, including in high-rise buildings. Focussing on the Australian context, this study examines the levels of adoption and barriers to using timber as a primary structural material in multi-storey buildings. Data collected from semi-structured interviews with stakeholders at the forefront of adoption in structural design, construction, and property development indicates that timber in multi-storey projects in Australia still faces industry-wide challenges. Designers' awareness and attitudes towards timber adoption are generally positive and suitable for flagship projects, including tall buildings, but for enduring and widespread impact, long-term investment in education within and outside the range of stakeholders already committed to promoting timber adoption is needed.
