  • Fall accidents account for the highest accident fatality rate in the construction industry. In addition, wearing and using a safety belt is the most realistic and important preventive measure to reduce fall accidents. Safety belts are protective devices worn by individual workers; they prevent workers from falling and allow for time to rescue the workers. However, the legal standards for safety belts only stipulate the materials, specifications, and strength of parts; there is no provision for an auxiliary rope fixing method to fix the safety belts safely. Due to this reason, workers in industrial sites arbitrarily fix and use the auxiliary rope. Currently, the most used method to fix the auxiliary rope is to tie a knot, which significantly lowers the strength of the material compared to the standard strength. Moreover, many construction sites are located outdoors, so the strength of the materials used in the auxiliary rope is inevitably reduced due to various external environmental conditions. Therefore, to solve this problem, this study was conducted to evaluate the strength of the material of the auxiliary rope for fixing the safety belt and the knot-tying method for the auxiliary rope. In this study, the exposure conditions for the effects of temperature and moisture were set to reflect the characteristics of the construction industry. The results of this study are expected to be used for standards establishment and the safe use of the auxiliary rope for safety belts in actual field applications.

  • Through the Standard of UL489, the Adjustable Type Instant Trip Unit should NO trip at 80% of each current from $5{\times}In$ to $10{\times}In$ and trip 130% of those. In this paper, we obtain the attraction force between Fixing Magnet and Moving Armature. we simulated the modelling by 3D Finite Element Method. With values of experiment and simulated values, in this paper, we show the method for set up the process of designing Instant spring.

  • Image segmentation is to divide an image into similar parts or objects. This paper presents a segmentation system which consists of a fuzzy neural network and a set of image processing filters. The fuzzy neural network does not need initialization of weights. Therefore it does not have the underutilization problem. This fuzzy neural network controls the size and number of clusters by the vigilance parameter instead of fixing the number of clusters at the initial stage. This fuzzy neural network does not require large amount of memory as in Fuzzy c-Means algorithm. Two satellite images were segmented using the proposed system. The segmented results show that the proposed system is better on segmenting images.

  • It is necessary to evaluate the greenhouse gases (GHGs) reduction policy by central and regional governments to set up the suitable GHG emissions measures. Quantitative, qualitative and synthetic methods have been adopted by previous researches to estimate GHG reduction policy. However, these methods mostly focused on the results of the reduction policy, rather than understanding and fixing the integrated structures of GHG emissions. In this research, System Dynamics(SD) was applied to 1 million green homes program, self-carfree-day system and carbon point program. The results showed that SD analyses could be appliable for the estimation of GHG reduction policy by developing the feedback loops and dynamic simulation model. SD can be consider as a supplementary tool to estimate the GHG reduction policies through the recognition of the structure in complex real system.

  • In order to minimize fixing error of workpieces, prismatic and cylindrical types. Modification Rule by Indexing Table and Modification Rule by NC Program are developed for machining centers by using touch trigger probes. The Modification Rule by Indexing Table means the alignment of workpiece to NC program through degree of freedoms of indexing table. The Modification Rule by NC Program is the alignment of NC program to workpiece set-up condition via the generation of NC program. A postprocessing module is also developed for generating NC-part Program (User Macro) to compensate for Machining errors in end milling and boring processes. Developed methods are verified by experiments.

  • In this study, a polymer mortar sandwich panel (PMSP) was developed : Core was made with the polymer mortar whose compressive strength was about 840 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and both facings were made with the glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP). The results showed that the strain energies and the ductility indices increased 16-340 times and 2-8 times, respectively, as the thicknesses of facings increased from 0.6 to 3.0mm with fixing the core thickness to constants (12-36mm). On the other hand, these values showed a tendency of decrease as the core thickness increased regardless of thickness of facings. A set of basic data for the structural analysis could be provided by investigating the correlations, within the scope of this research, between the resisting moment and the thicknesses of core and facings.

  • In this study, a MMA modified polymer mortal sandwich panels was developed : Core was made with the MMA modified polymer mortar whose compressive strength was about 1020 kgf/cm$^2$, and both facings were made with the glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP). The results showed that the strain energies increased 20-33 times, respectively, as the thicknesses of facings increased from 1.50 to 2.76 mm with fixing the core thickness to constants (30-50 mm). On the other hand, these values showed a tendency of decrease as the core thickness increased regardless of thickness of facings. A set of basic data for the structural analysis could be provided by investigating the correlations, within the scope of this research, between the resisting moment and the thicknesses of core and facings.

  • We consider the routing and wavelength assignment problem in survivable WDM transport network without wavelength conversion. We assume the single-link failure and a path protection scheme in optical layer. When a physical network and a set of working paths are given, the problem is to select a link-disjoint protection path for each working path and assign a wavelength for each working and protection path. We give an integer programming formulation of the problem and propose an algorithm to solve it based on column generation technique and variable fixing. We devise a branch-and-price algorithm to solve the column generation problem. We test the proposed algorithm on some randomly generated data and test results show that the algorithm gives very good solutions.

Though the formulation has exponentially many variables, we solve the linear programming relaxation of it by using column generation technique. We devise a branch-and price algorithm to solve the column generation problem. After solving the linear programming relaxation, we apply a variable fixing procedure combined with the column generation to get an integral solution. We test the proposed algorithm on some randomly generated data and test results show that the algorithm gives very good solutions.

  • The tracking antenna must always point to track moving vehicle for data link. In this paper, we determine pointing angle from the geometric relationship of antenna and UAV(Unmaned Aerial Vehicle) to let an antenna be toward a moving vehicle. The pointing angle of antenna is set through GPS measurement data installed in antenna and UAV. We verify the performance of this system from the fixing a camcoder on the antenna.
