Accuracy and processing time are very important factors when the desired shape is fabricated with Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), one of Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) systems. In a conventional SLS process, laser spot size is fixed during laser exposing on the sliced figure. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately and rapidly fabricate the desired shape. In this paper, to deal with those problems an SFF system having ability of changing spot size is developed. The system provides high accuracy and optimal processing time. Specifically, a variable beam expander is employed to adjust spot size for different figures on a sliced shape. Finally, Design and performance estimation of the SFF system employing a variable beam expander are achieved and the mechanism will be addressed to measure the real spot size generated from the variable beam expander.
In reinforced concrete design, structural member sizes and amount of reinforcing steel areas are usually selected based on the structural designers' experience. Most existing charts provided for the design of reinforced concrete structural members were developed mainly based on force equilibrium conditions and some serviceability criteria. Sections selected from these charts may not result in an economic solution in terms of material costs as well as construction costs. Practical design aids are developed and suggested in this study for the economical design of reinforced concrete beam under flexural loading. With the beam width fixed, the depth of a beam, positive steel areas and negative steel areas are found from Khun-Tucker necessary conditions with Lagrangian multipliers to minimize the sectional cost of a beam. The developed design aids might be useful in selecting optimum reinforced concrete beam sections. Theoretical derivations and use of the developed design aids are described in this paper.
First, three point bending analysis for the inclined press door impact beam was carried out to investigate inclination angle effect on the maximum strength with varying support distance. Next, for the system model with spring elements representing body stiffness at door mounting area, the bending structural behavior of impact beam mounted on vehicle was estimated. The mounting distance and inclination angle were changed and the beam bending buckling strength was presumed at the head displacement below which spring stiffness change has little effect on the load. Finally strength ratio to predict the bending buckling strength of impact beam mounted on vehicle from three point bending maximum strength of fixed support distance was suggested.

The plasma ion density in AC-PDP has shown to be increased from $5.6{\times}10^{11}cm^{-3}$ to $9.0{\times}10^{11)cm^{-3}$ as the Xe mixture ratio to neon increase from 1 % to 10 %, respectively, at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, by using the micro-Langmuir probe. It is noted that the plasma ion density is density increases as the gas pressure increases in this experiment. The electron temperature decreases from 2.3 to 1.2 eV as the Xe mole fraction increases from 1 % to 10 % at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, which is measured by the micro Langmuir probe and high-speed ICCD camera in this experiment. It is noted that the electron temperature decreases as the gas pressure increases from 150 to 400 Torr in this experiment. It is also observed that the exited Xe atom density and the plasma ion density are in strong correlation sharp between each other in this experiment. It is noted that $5.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_5$ metastable state and $1.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_4$ resonance state for the PDP cell with gap of 50 um distances under the fixed gas pressure of 400 Torr and Xe content ratio of 10 %.
Millimeter-wave networking is composed of narrow beam link. it is very substantial that beam connecting point to point is fixed in right direction. It is major requirement in the beam network to keep the beam in best direction. In this paper, We propose the method to find a best suited direction of the antenna's beam using the Genetic Algorithm (GA) in point-to-point link. Proposed method presume that each station knows his direction ${\theta}_1$ , ${\theta}_2$ at every step of GA, then it can be expected that GA is possible to search the ideal solution. Intensity of the received signal is evaluated by the multiplication of lengths to the point which the lobe meets with the horizontal line.

This paper investigates vibrational motion of a flexible beam fixed on a moving cart and carrying a moving mass. The equations of motion of the beam-mass-cart system are analysed through the unconstrained modal analysis. The exact normal mode solution used in modal analysis correspond to the eigenfrequencies for each position of the moving mass and to the ratios of the weight of the beam-mass-car system. Time solutions of normal modes are also transformed properly according to the position of the moving mass. Numerical simulations are carried out to obtain open-loop responses of the system in tracking pre-designed paths of the moving mass. The simulation results show that the model predicts the dynamic behavior of the beam-mass-cart system well. Experiments are carried out to show the validity of the proposed analytical method.
In this paper, a new method has been proposed to detect crack in beam structures under moving mass using regularized extreme learning machine. For this purpose, frequencies of beam under moving mass used as input to train machine. This data is acquired by the analysis of cracked structure applying the finite element method (FEM). Also, a validation study used for verification of the FEM. To evaluate performance of the presented method, a fixed simply supported beam and two span continuous beam are considered containing single or multi cracks. The obtained results indicated that this method can provide a reliable tool to accurately identify cracks in beam structures under moving mass.
This paper discusses the lateral vibration of a beam with boundary condition of one end fixed and the other end free. The uniform beam has a solution by summation of some simple exponential functions. But if its shape is not uniform, its solution could be by Bessel's function or mathematical solution could not exist. Even if the solution of Bessel's function exists, as Bessel function is a series function, we must get the solution by numerical method. Author had proposed the solution of the matrix method by Ritz's method and a new mode shape function, and had earned the good results for a wedge beam. Hereby a vibration analysis for the tapered beam with circle cross section was executed, and so good results were showed.
The Polyethylene (PE), Polystyrene (PS) and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) surface modification was investigated by hydrogen io assisted reaction (H-IAR) in oxygen environment. The IAR is a kind of surface modification techniques using ion beam irradiation in reactive gas environment. The energy of hydrogen ion beam was fixed at 1keV, io dose was varied from 5$\times$1014 to 1$\times$1017 ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and amount of oxygen blowing gas was fixed 4ml/min. Wettability was measured by water contact angles measurement, and the surface functionality was analyzed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The contact angle of water on PE modified by argon ion beam only decrease from 95$^{\circ}$ to 52$^{\circ}$, and surface energy was not changed significantly. But, the contact angle using hydrogen ion beam with flowing 4ml/min oxygen stiffly decreased to 8$^{\circ}$ and surface energy to 65 ergs/cm. In case of PS, the contact angle and surface energy changes were similar results of PE, but the contact angle of PTEE samples decreased with ion dose up to 1$\times$1015 ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$, increased at higher dose, and finally increased to the extent that no wetting was appeared at 1$\times$1017 ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$. These results must be due to the hydrogen ion beam that cleans the surface removing the impurities on polymer surfaces, then hydrogen ion beam was activated with C-H bonding to make some functional groups in order to react with the oxygen gases. Finally, unstable polymer surface can be changed from hydrophobic to hydrophilic formation such as C-O and C=O that were confirmed by the XPS analysis, conclusionally, the ion assisted reaction is very effective tools to attach reactive ion species to form functional groups on C-C bond chains of PE, PS and PTFE.
