  • This study analyzed the effect of the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of gochujang, Korean red chili paste, on purchasing intention and recommendation intention for consumption. Survey participants were female, married, aged 30 - 39 years, and highly educated with graduation from a university. Most participants purchased gochujang 1 - 2 times per year, most commonly at a shopping mall, and acquired information on the gochujang product from an advertisement or sponsored TV shows. For the factor analysis, five variables for intrinsic quality were considered: namely, healthiness, economics, convenience, diversity, and sense, whereas three variables were considered for extrinsic quality: trust, external appearance, and image. The factor analysis also confirmed the correlation between the validity and the reliability of the purchasing and recommendation intentions. The effect of intrinsic quality of gochujang on purchasing and recommendation intentions was tested through a multiple regression analysis. The purchase intention was most significantly affected by healthiness, cost, and convenience. On the other hand, the recommendation intention was most significantly affected by the diversity and, to a lesser degree, by the healthiness of the product. Among the extrinsic qualities, trust of consumers and the product appearance had a significant effect on purchasing intention. Recommendation intention was significantly affected by the appearance. And trust significantly influenced the recommendation. Therefore, a concrete and systematic marketing approach considering these factors.

  • A kindergarten requires an approach to meet the nature and sense of children who is main users. This study selected 33 private kindergartens which were located within a housing site development zone in Gwangju since the 1990's, had single use, and was constructed in the last five years. Also the image assessment according to types of color scheme was made. Then the factors which affected preference by type were analyzed and the basic of color scheme in a kindergarten classroom was provided. The following results were obtained. First, types of color scheme in a classroom included identity 12.1%, similarity 51.5%, and novelty 36.4% in harmony, but no contrast and achromatic color, Secondly, the assessment of preference according to each type was mostly positive. The highest preference was found in similarity harmony of warm color(e.g. YR, Y) and bright, clear, nice, and strong images were high in assessment. The lowest preference was found in identity harmony of cold color(e.g. GY). This color system had no clear image assessment, except manly or strong. In particular, warm color showed higher preference than cold color in similarity, novelty, and identity harmony. Thirdly, the factors affecting the preference of color scheme in a classroom most were ‘stable - unstable’, ‘clean - dirty’, ‘bright - dark’, ‘nice - not nice’, and ‘vital - dull’.

  • This paper aims to develop a conceptual model of smart tourism destination competitiveness to provide implications in terms of smart tourism destination realization and smart tourism destination competitiveness development. A literature review on tourism destination competitiveness and smart tourism destination is performed. A conceptual model is suggested on the basis of the model of destination competitiveness developed by Crouch and Ritchie (1999). The suggested conceptual model integrates the traditional concepts of comparative advantages and competitive advantages, seven core resources and attractors, and five destination management factors. Smart technology is included as a new core resource and attractor in the model. This study is the first to comprehensively conceptualize smart tourism destination competitiveness. Moreover, this study has practical value in the sense that it focused on the convergence between smart technology and other factors.

  • The Silk Road, a trans-Eurasian network of trade routes connecting East and Southeast Asia to Central Asia, India, Southwest Asia, the Mediterranean, and northern Europe, which flourished from roughly 100 BCE to around 1450, has enjoyed two modern eras of intense academic study. The first spanned a period of little more than five decades, from the late nineteenth century into the early1930s, when a succession of European, Japanese, and American scholar-adventurers, working primarily in Chinese Turkestan (present-day Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, which comprises China's vast northwest) and China's Gansu Province (to the immediate east of Xinjiang) rediscovered and often looted many of the ancient sites and artifacts of the Silk Road. The second era began to pick up momentum in the 1980s due to a number of geopolitical, cultural, and technological realities as well as the emergence of the New World History as a historiographical field and area of teaching. This second period of fascination with the Silk Road has resulted in not only a substantial body of both learned and popular publications as well as productions in other media but also in an ever-expanding sense among historians of the scope, reach, and significance of the Silk Road.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess abdominal sensation after free TRAM flap for breast reconstruction. 74 patients underwent breast reconstruction with free TRAM flap by authors and were followed up to check the sensation on abdomen following the surgery at the out patient clinic. They are compared with 20 female volunteer controls. Abdomens were divided into 13 zones, and assessed for superficial touch, superficial pain, temperature, two-point discrimination, and vibration. For all five sensory modalities, subjects were found to have decreased sensation in the umbilical and infraumbilical regions. This was statistically significant compared with controls. Division following pedicle dissection showed more reduction of sensation than non-dissection side. Both Inguinal areas below the donor site closure also showed markedly decreased sensation. Sensation on most area of abdomen recovered in postoperative 1 year, however, there were remained hypoesthesia in umbilical and infraumbilical area after post operative 1 year. This study clearly demonstrates that there is a significant and persistent reduction in abdominal sensibility following free TRAM flap surgery.

  • Background: central core disease is one of the non-progressive benign congenital myopathies characterized by the presence of cores in muscle fibers, which was originally described by Shy and Magee (1956). We describe clinical charcteristics of central core disease in a Korean family manifested by autosomal dominant pattern through three generations. Methods: Clinical, serologic, and electrophysiologic profiles were evaluated in eleven members among 22 family members through three generations. Results: Six family members were symptomatic and five were non-symptomatic. Instead of proximal muscle weakness, musculoskeletal manifestations including non-specific joint pain and stiff sense were the most frequent symptoms. Muscle biopsy performed in two symptomatic patients revealed that type I fiber showed central halo, which is charactreristics of central core disease. No remarkable findings were present in serologic study including CPK level and electromyographic findings suggesting myopathic pattern were only present in two patients among 11 symptomatic group. Conclusions: In evaluating non-specific musculoskeletal complaints from the familial members showing genetic trait, central core disease should be considered to one of the possible diagnosis.

  • This paper discussed the assessment of hand of Tencel denim fabrics finished by enzymatic hydrolysis. The subjective hand and the preference of Tencel denim fabrics were evaluated using the developed scale. The factors affecting consumers taste for Tencel denim fabrics were analyzed by statistics using SAS program. Also, the effects of cellulase treatment on the properties of Tencel denim fabrics were evaluated by the subjective hand measurements. The results are as follows: As the weight loss increased. fabrics were evaluated as finer, smoother, softer, warmer, more refined (surface properties), more compact and weaker (durability), more flexible, flossier, lighter, softer, thinner (sense of weight), more elastic, and less wrinkly (shape recovery). Fabrics were evaluated to have the dry touch regardless to the rate of weight loss (moisture properties). Overall hand preference of Tencel denim fabrics was in the side of not preferred. Hand of Tencel fabrics seems not to appeal to Korean people. Color preferences were not significantly different among five groups. The correlations between subjective hand and preference showed that fine, smooth, flexible, warm, refined, loose, soft, dry touches were preferred in Tencel denim fabrics.
