  • The need for economical and accurate presentations of equivalent radar reflectivity( $Z_e$) data in an orthogonal coordinate system has existed for some time. So, in this study, a fast and efficient procedure has been developed which allows the systematic interpolation of digital reflectivity data from radar space into Cartesian space. At first, QC(Quality Control) of radar data has been executed for extracting uncontaminated Constant Altitude Plan Position Indicator(CAPPI) data. The algorithm is designed so that only one ordered pass through the original Plan Position Indicator(PPI) scan data is necessary to complete the interpolation process. The model can calculate various resolution and altitude reflectivity data for many kinds of hydrological usage.

  • Temporal changes in total nitrogen (T-N) and phosphorus (T-P) concentrations in paddy floodwater in response to fertilization under rain-shielding pot and small-scaled field conditions were investigated. On the basis of the changing patterns, suggestions for the use of fertilization factors, such as days after fertilization, in developing models for the estimation of T-N and T-P loads from paddy fields were made. Total N concentration was susceptible to fertilization, showing a peak concentration right after fertilization followed by a decreasing pattern with the elapse of days after fertilization. The decreasing pattern of T-N concentration followed the first- order kinetics, indicating that the models are likely to be an exponential equation using days after fertilization as an independent variable. Comparison between the pot and field experiments conducted with soils different in soil fertility revealed that indigenous soil N concentration significantly affected T-N concentration, and this suggests that soil N status can be used as the second variable for the models. Meanwhile, temporal changes in T-P concentration did not respond to P fertilization as sensitively as T-N. In combination with other published results, our study suggests that rainfall intensity and other factors associated with farming activities that are likely to cause disturbance of soil particles containing P may be used as possible variables for the models.

  • Frequent urban floods affect the human safety and economic properties due to a lack of the capacity of drainage system and the increased frequency of torrential rainfall. The drainage system has played an important role in flooding control, so it is necessary to establish the effective countermeasures considering the connection between drainage system and surface flow. To consider the connection, we selected SWMM5 model for analyzing transportation capacity of drainage system and FLUMEN model for calculating inundation depth and time variation of inundation area. First, Thiessen method is used to delineate the sub-catchments effectively base on drainage network data in SWMM5. Then, the output data of SWMM5, hydrograph of each manhole, were used to simulate FLUMEN to obtain inundation depth and time variation of inundation area. The proposed method is applied to Sadang area for the event occurred in $27^{th}$ of July, 2011. A total of 11 manholes, we could check the overflow from the manholes during that event as a result of the SWMM5 simulation. After that, FLUMEN was utilized to simulate overland flow using the overflow discharge to calculate inundation depth and area on ground surface. The simulated results showed reasonable agreements with observed data. Through the simulations, we confirmed that the main reason of the inundation was the insufficient transportation capacities of drainage system. Therefore cooperation of both models can be used for not only estimating inundation damages in urban areas but also for providing the theoretical supports of the urban network reconstruction. As a future works, it is recommended to decide optimized pipe diameters for efficient urban inundation simulations.

  • In this study, we analyzed the soil salinity of Saemangeum agricultural land using GIS spatial interpolation method. Dominant soils series of experimental sites were Munpo (coarseloamy, mixed, non-acid, mesic, typically fluvaquents), which was based on the fluvio-marine deposit. Soil samples were periodically collected at 0~20cm and 20~40cm layer from each site. First, the distribution characteristics of EC, ESP, and SAR according to spatial interpolation were analyzed using 142 sample points. Through the error analysis of 143 validation points, the IDW method for EC and SAR, and the Kriging interpolation method for ESP were selected as the optimal interpolation method. Using the optimal interpolation method, the characteristics of EC, ESP, and SAR were analyzed for the change of soil salinity from 2014 to 2016. As a result, EC, ESP and SAR were decreased by 0.26mg/L, 5.97mg/L and 0.73mg/L respectively due to the dilution effect caused by rainfall.

  • The purpose s of this study is to verify the status of barrier-free certification in an elementary school. To achieve this, the architectural characteristics of an elementary school and proposed opinions about the process of barrier-free certification were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows: (1) barrier-free certification in an elementary school is valid for inclusive education and accessibility for students with disabilities. (2) Regarding the school district and safe accessibility for the school, it is necessary to minimize the differences in land levels around the school. (3) Considering the opinions on intermediate facilities from the road to the main entrance, it is necessary to set the finish level of the first floor and to minimize the establishment of ramp or steps to prevent the backflow of rainfall.

  • South Korea's agricultural nitrogen balance and phosphorus balance rank first and second, respectively, among OECD countries, and proper nutrient management is required to preserve the water quality of rivers and lakes. This study evaluates the effects of furrow mulching on the reduction of non-point source pollution (NPS) load from a sloped upland. The study site was Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, and the survey period was from 2018 to 2019. The slope of the testbed was 13%, and the soil type was sandy loam. The cropping system consisted of maize-autumn Chinese cabbage rotation. The testbed was composed of bare soil (bare), control (Cont.), furrow vegetation mulching (FVM), and furrow nonwoven fabric mulching (FFM) plots. Runoff was collected for each rainfall event with a 1/100 sampler, and the NPS load was calculated by measuring the concentrations of SS, T-N, and T-P. The NPS load was then analyzed for the entire monitoring and crop cultivation periods. During the monitoring period, the effect of reducing the NPS load was 1.5%~44.5% for FVM and 13.1%~55.2% for FFM. During the crop cultivation period, it was 1.2%~80.5% for FVM and 27.0%~65.1% for FFM, indicating that FFM was more effective than FVM. As the NPS load was fairly high during the crop conversion period, an appropriate management method needs to be implemented during this period.

  • The aim on this paper is to explain the present state and circumstance in the course of arranging historic classical books in China. In order to approach its purpose, it should make it clear to define the word of "The present"(當代). Furthermore, we need to take a deep notice on the arrangements itself of historic classical books, its influences and contributions, reflecting this process carefully with those historical, cultual and social points of view due to the meaning of "The present" in China. Starting from this considerate view, first of all, I would like to determine the accurate time of "The present" to be the period of time from October, 1949 to December, 2003. It can be described very suitably well as "bamboo sprouts grow fast after a rainfall"(雨後春荀). This tremendous works in the arrangements of Classics have gone through sweets and bitters of times during 50 and several years. However, this work in process has overcome so much troubles and exclude obstacles in doing so, gradually begun to bear tasteful fruit of many publications, about 10,000 works so far. Although it has gone far with very little amount of works in comparison with the remains that would be put in order in the incoming future, it succeed effectively to the spirit and soul in Chinese culture and people. Illuminating the development in its historical steps and analyzing elaborately flows in cultural and ideal elements, it is known that this work of arrangements not only give a very firm basis for excellent Chinese cultural tradition, but also extend high level of idea and thoughts in their thoughts so that build up the spirit in socialism on the solid foundation. This paper will give a explanation and analysis on this works and its contributions. At the same time, it examine and give a good, careful, and close look on the arrangement of historic classical books in China by various means of classifying into various types and style, searching for many methods, and showing indication and directions that might be right in "the present".

  • In this study, we used satellite images to analyze the green algae phenomenon that first occurred in Soyang-ho, which was completed in 1973. The research data used 13 optical images over a period of about 2 months from July 2023, and the area of green algae that occurred in Soyang-ho was calculated. To calculate the exact area where green algae occurred, image classification was performed based on the support vector machine algorithm. As a result, green algae in Soyang-ho occurred around the point where the impurities that caused the green algae were introduced. It seemed to temporarily decrease due to the effects of Typhoon Khanun in August 2023, but green algae increased again due to the continued heat. Soyang-ho is one of the major water sources in the metropolitan area, suggesting that we must prepare for repeated green algae outbreaks.

  • Climate change has a broad impact on the entire water environment, and this impact is growing. Climate adaptation in water supply systems often involves quantity and quality control, but there has been a lack of research examining the impacts of climatic factors on water supply productivity and operation conditions. Therefore, the present study focused on, first, building a database of climatic factors and water purification operating conditions, and then identifying the correlations between factors to reveal their impacts. News big data was analyzed with keywords of climatic factors and water supply systems in either nationwide or region-wide analyses. Metropolitan area exhibited more issues with cold waves whereas there were more issues with drought in the Southern Chungcheong area. A survey was conducted to seek experts' opinions on the climatic impacts leading to these effects. Pre-chlorination due to drought, high-turbidity of intake water due to rainfall, an increase of toxins in intake water due to heat waves, and low water temperature due to cold waves were expected. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted based on meteorological data and the operating data of a water purification plant. Heavy rain resulted in 13 days of high turbidity, and the subsequent low turbidity conditions required 3 days of high coagulant dosage. This insight is expected to help inform the design of operation manuals for waterworks in response to climate change.
