  • It is important to investigate into the critical success factors of the CIO system in order to formulate a successful introduction strategy of the system. In an effort to provide the background of the strategy, this research attempts to identify the characteristics of CIO's environment in Korea, such as the CEO, the colleagues, and the demographic statistics of the firm the CIO works for. A result from the analysis of data collected shows that about half the firms who responded to the survey have already adopted the CIO system. This implies that the value of the system is well recognized in Korea, considering that many of another half the firms are planning to adopt the system. Another result suggests that the bigger a firm is, the more the firm tends to adopt the CIO system and the higher the rank of CIO's colleagues is.

  • This paper studied the differences of the inventories asset turnover change ratio and several characteristics variable between large and small manufacturing firm group. Large and small firm group were determined based on number of labors and asset size. Several characteristics variable of firms such as assets size, sales growth rate, return on assets, leverage ratio, credit rating and age of firm were used to find out the differences of firm group. As a result, the inventory asset turnover change ratio of large firm was 5.16% and that of the middle and small firm was 9.3%. For the large firm, sales growth rate, ROA and credit rating affect inventory assets turnover change ratio. For the middle and small sized firm, Assets size, sales growth rate and credit rating affect inventory assets turnover change ratio. Using this result, we can say that manufacturing company need to consider their firm size and their characteristics to make their own operation strategy of inventory.

  • Managing customers based on customer equity (CE) has emerged as the most effective way of doing business because of its ability to foster profitable customer relationship management (CRM) through appropriate marketing activities. Most research studies provide conceptual and empirical evidence of the positive link between CE and firm performance. However, regarding this possibility, it has been suggested by some researchers that this link may not hold true for other firms with different firmographic factors, such as firm growth rate, size, and resources. As previous research emphasizes that marketing managers should implement a strategy based on their unique business environment, our study addresses this issue by extending the framework to a different industry setting to investigate the impact of CE on firm performance. We develop a model for examining the relationship between the firm's estimated CE and firm performance by each time period using a distributed lagged model. Then, we investigate the effect of CE on the firm's profitability using a regression analysis. Finally, even though CRM is in increasing demand and firms are focusing on the customer as an asset, we conclude that there is a limited condition for this positive effect of CE. When the life cycle was divided by growth rate, CE was shown to have a distinctive effect on profit. In the case of a high-growth stage, the effect of CE on profit is positive because of its potential customer base, whereas the effect is not significant in a low-growth stage. That is, when the business environment is saturated and the firms are no longer competing in the market, CRM may not be effective. In other words, a long-term performance orientation may not be as effective as previously believed. This research contributes to the previous literature, providing a counterintuitive suggestion that firm managers should be cautious about implementing a CRM strategy and should allocate resources properly in terms of their resource capabilities and ability depending on their situation.

  • Under the current competitive business environment, the complexity of procurement method, and the lack of engineering capacity in the construction engineering industry, a construction engineering firms require the business strategy and its performance measurement system. This study suggests a performance measurement model that could follow 'H' construction engineering firm's vision and strategy. The model utilizes the concept of Balanced Scorecard. The study proposes the four main performance perspectives such as financial, growth, internal efficiency, and improvement & learning through the long-term strategy analysis, SWOT analysis, and interviews of the employees. Also the study develops the critical success factor and the key performance indicators. The usefulness of the performance measurement model is validated through the gap analysis such as alignment analysis and consensus analysis.

  • The primary research questions in this paper are why and how competing firms collaborate, not compete, in the virtual marketplace, e.g., B2B marketplace in the Internet environment. In order to answer the questions, we take on a system dynamics simulation approach: we consider two broad e-collaboration strategies: · Exclusive e-business strategy If the firm adopts this strategy, it allocates all of its resources (available for e-business development) to its own e-business capability building only. · Collaborative e-business strategy When the firm adopts a collaborative e-business strategy, it invests not only in its own, but also the industrys e-business capability building. From the system dynamics simulation results, we conclude that e-collaboration pays off in the long run: although it is hard to tell whether the collaborative strategy is better than the exclusive one during the initial period, it is unambiguous that the collaborative e-business strategy Performs much better in the long run. We infer that such collaboration could occur when the firms realize that they benefit from the expansion of the market demand due to their collaboration. That is, in order for such collaboration between competing firms to be sustainable, such collaboration should create more demand in the market so that each company could earn more profit even if it gets less in terms of market share.

  • In this paper, we report computational testing result to examine the validity of firm's bankruptcy risk estimation through quantification of supply chain risk. Supply chain risk in this study refers to upstream supply risk and downstream demand risk, To assess the firm's risk affected by supply chain risk, we adopt unit of analysis as industry level. since supply and demand relationships of the firm could be generalized by the industry input-output table and the availability of various valid economic indicators which are chronologically calculated. The research model to estimate firm's risk level is the linear regression model to assess the industry bankruptcy risk estimation of the focal firm's industry with the independent variables which could quantitatively reflect demand and supply risk of the industry. The publicly announced macro economic indicators are selected as the candidate independent variables and validated through empirical testing. To validate our approach, in this paper, we confined our research scope to steel industry sector and its related industry sectors, and implemented the research model. The empirical testing results provide useful insights to further refine the research model as the valid forecasting mechanism to capture firm's future risk estimation more accurately by adopting supply chain industry risk aspect, in conjunction with firm's financial and other managerial factors.

  • This study is an attempt to explore the nature and characteristics of strategic impact of green strategy by environmental capital, corporate reputation, and technology strengths on the firm's performance across countries. The main question addressed in this paper relates to how corporate sustainability, corporate reputation, technology strength, and capabilities influence the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance measures including sustained growth through the leading firms across countries in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific countries. Particularly, this study attempts to empirically explore the directions and magnitudes of the operational links between new emerging strategic core competencies (e.g., sustainability green strategy by environmental focus for more sustainable path, corporate reputation by corporate social responsibility and image enhancement, and technology strengths to develop a new product and market) and the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance such as accounting (ROE and EOA) - and market-based performance (Market value and Tobin's q). Considering all possible limitations that might exist with regard to selected samples and methods, this study demonstrates that environmental sustainability, corporate reputation, technological capabilities and competencies through R&D intensity and patent are most likely to be significantly associated with most market-based performance measures, but the strategic significance of other variables such as capital intensity, leverage, and administrative cost efficiency on performance tends to be different depending on which performance measure is used across different countries with diverse economic and business contexts.

Electronic Commerce is rapidly growing due to the increasing of internet user and the development of information technology. With the emergence of the Internet, a totally new business, the electronic commerce(EC) is emerging. Internet EC brings in many benifits to the organization such as reduced costs, fast turnaround, better customer service, and in some firms strategic advantage over their competitors. As a newly created interior design paradigm, this proposal presents its utmost advantage, interlocking interior design firm management with virtual reality of internet. Appropriately interacting on-line with off-line in virtual reality of internet improves the image of interior design firm and makes the best use of its identity in marketing. This application can rightly attract consumers' interest. Analyzing the market, the most important thing in marketing is to anticipate consumers' existing and possible demand in future. In other word, servicing consumers with idea efficiently is competence. As the point of management, to maximize managing value in interior design proposes the application of internet to management strategy of interior design firm
