  • The serious issue of tall building is to ensure the fire resistance of high strength concrete. Therefore, Solving methods are required to control the explosive spalling. The fire resistant finishing method is installed by applying a fire resistant material as a light-weight material to structural steel and concrete surface. This method can reduce the temperature increase of the reinforcement embedded in structural steel and concrete at high temperature due to the installation thickness control. This study is interested in identifying the effectiveness of light-weight fire protection material compounds including the inorganic admixture such as fly ash, meta-kaolin and light-weight aggregate as the fire resistant finishing materials through the analysis of fire resistance and components properties at high temperature. Also, this paper is concerned with change in microstructure and dehydration of the light-weight fire protection materials at high temperatures. The testing methods of fire protection materials in high temperature properties are make use of SEM and XRD. The study results show that the light-weight fire resistant finishing material composed of fly ash, meta-kaolin and light-weight aggregate has the thermal stability of the slight decrease of compressive strength at high temperature. These thermal stability is caused by the ceramic binding capacity induced by alkali activation reaction by the reason of the thermal analysis result not showing the decomposition of calcium hydrate. Developed light-weight fire protection materials showed good stability in high Temperatures. Thus, the results indicate that it is possible to fireproof panels, fire protection of materials.

  • Structural light weight aggregate concrete are made with both coarse and fine light weight aggregates, but it is common with the high strength concrete to replace all or part with normal weight sand be called class 1 structural light weight aggregate concrete. Fire resistance of structural light weight aggregate concrete are determined by properties of high water content ratio and explosive spalling. Especially, structural light weight aggregate concrete is occurred serious fire performance deterioration by explosive spalling stem from thermal stress and water vapor pressure. This study is concerned with experimentally investigating fire resistance of class 1 structural light weight concrete. From the test result, class 1 structural light weight concrete is happened explosive spalling. The decrease of cross section caused by explosive spalling made sharp increasing gradient of inner temperature.

  • The iron frame of building could be collapsed or bent at $500^{\circ}C$. Therefore the fire-resistant paint should be applied for safety. This study performed the comparative analysis to show the characteristics of fireresistant paint. And then 12 products of fire resistant paint and 6 products of paints were used as samples. And the samples were analyzed by TGA (Thermogravimetric Analyzer) as analyzer for measuring the variation of weight on temper of weight by heating. When TGA analyzer could measure the variatiature, and FT-IR was measured for analyze gas components on variation on of weight by heating on 12 products of fire resistance, the samples showed to decrease 40% of weight to $800^{\circ}C$, and because paints had 50% to 40% of loss weight, it showed to be equal with loss weight of fire resistance paint on high temperature or was lower loss weight than it of fire resistance paints. However number 6 sample of fire resistance paints could show to decrease 20% of total weight on $800^{\circ}C$. And then in the case of FT-IR, fire resistance paints could show to have the high intensity of $CO_2$ spectrum as complete combustion. However paints could show to have the lower intensity of $CO_2$ spectrum, have the higher intensity of water spectrum. Therefore the TGA graph of result could be much different until $250^{\circ}C$. When it was burned, FT-IR spectrum could show to confirm the characteristics of fire resistance paints, and the characteristic could be confirmed on inorganic paint of fire resistance by weight loss of TGA.

  • Normally, the degradation of concrete member exposed to fire is largely dependent on the fire scale and fire condition. With all ensuring the fire resistance structure as a method of setting the required cover thickness to fire, the RC is significantly affected from the standpoint of its structural stability that the compressive strength and elastic modulus is reduced by fire. Thus, this study is concerned with experimentally investigating fire resistance of high strength-light weight concrete. From the test result, high strength-light weight concrete is happened explosive spalling. The decrease of cross section caused by explosive spalling made sharp increasing gradient of inner temperature.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the fire resistant performances of load-bearing wall using both composite and steel stud panel infilled with light-weight formed mortar under axial loading according to KS F 2257(1999). The minimum requirement of 2 hours fire resistant rating is needed for the residential and commercial buildings under the fire regulation of Korea. From test results, it is found that two types of specimen composed of the hybrid stud and steel stud panel filled with light-weight formed mortar fited in with the requirement of 2 hours fire resisting rate for the load-bearing wall. In the conclusions, the specimen with hybrid stud shows predominating fire-resistant performance on the adiabatic effects rather than that of the steel stud specimen.

  • This study is investigating the fire resistant finishing materials composed of fly ash and glass forming light weight aggregate has the high temperature thermal stability. High temperatures such as a fire, cementitious materials beget dehydration and micro crack of cement matrix. From the test result, developed fire resistant finishing materials showed good stability in high temperatures. These high temperature stability is caused by the ceramic binding and low thermal conductivity of glass forming light weight aggregate. Also, alkali activation reaction of fly ash and meta kaolin not showing the decomposition of calcium hydrates. Thus, this result indicates that it is possible to fire resistant finishing light weight mortars.

  • Research to discuss the fire performance of materials requires tools for measuring their burning characteristics and validated fire growth models to predict fire behavior of the materials under specific tire scenarios using the measured properties as input for the models. In this study, burning characteristics such as time to ignition, weight loss rate, flame spread, heat release rate, total heat evolved, and effective heat of combustion for four types of wood-based materials were evaluated using the cone calorimeter and inclined panel tests. Time to ignition was affected by not only surface condition and specific gravity of the tested materials but also the type and magnitude of heat source. Results of weight loss rate, measured by inclined panel tests, indicated that heat transfer from the contacted flame used as the heat source into the inner part of the specimen was inversely proportional to specific gravity of material. Flame spread was closely related with ignition time at the near part of burning zone. Under constant and severe external heat flux, there was little difference in weight loss rate and total heat evolved between four types of wood-based panels. More applied heat flux caused by longer ignition time induced a higher first peak value of heat release rate. Burning characteristics data measured in this study can be used effectively as input for fire growth models to predict the fire behavior of materials under specific fire scenarios.
