This study investigates the main factors of fire prevention, such as spontaneous ignition and flash point, while using Diehylene Glycol (DEG) as the antifreeze for automobile and industrial machines. Our results show the flash point of $142^{\circ}C$ and the minimum ignition temperature of $388^{\circ}C$ in the range of $130{\mu}{\ell}{\sim}150{\mu}{\ell}$. By increasing temperature to ignite in 1 second, an instantaneous ignition temperature of the sample is $569^{\circ}C$ in the sample amount of $140{\mu}{\ell}$.
Sesame seed oil cakes are classified as the animal or plant origin among the flammable liquids, and the fire occurs due to the spontaneous ignition through the accumulation of heat during the storage of residues after the extraction of sesame oil. In order to elucidate the cause of the spontaneous ignition of sesame seed oil cakes, the thickness (3 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm and 14 cm) of the sample container was varied, and the spontaneous ignition temperature was measured depending on the storage volume. Thus, the spontaneous ignition temperature was measured to be 180 ℃ at the thickness of 3 cm, 160 ℃ at 5 cm, 145 ℃ at 7 cm and 130 ℃ at 14 cm. As the thickness of the sample container increased, the critical ignition temperature decreased, and the induction time to spontaneous ignition and the time to reach the maximum temperature became longer. Furthermore, the apparent activation energy by the critical ignition temperature, which is the average temperature of ignition and non-ignition, was 97.10 [kJ/mol]. With these data, ignition characteristics of sesame seed oil cakes were determined.
17 kinds of fire resistant paint which are currently used were painted on the MDF(middle density fiber board), which suitable to the regulation of Fire Service Act. And we investigate a ignition delay effect under a exposure condition of radiative heat of fire. Radiative heat flux was controlled from $10kW/m^2$ to $30kW/m^2$ using the cone heater. Ignition time, ignition type and surface temperature of the sample were measured. Based on the experimental result, critical heat flux of the fire resistant paint treated sample was $10kW/m^2$ and there were no ignition delay effect above the $30kW/m^2$. And it was found that it will be difficult to expect the fire resistant effect above $400^{\circ}C$ of sample surface temperature.
Purpose: In this study, the characteristics of fire occurrence according to ignition heat sources such as operating equipment, cigarette/lighter fire, and flame/fire were analyzed. Method: One-way ANOVA and cross-analysis were used to analyze the characteristics of fire occurrence by verifying the difference between the ignition environment, fire damage status and scale, and cause of ignition according to the ignition heat source. Result: The fire occurrence characteristics were analyzed through As a result of the analysis, it was found that fires caused by operating devices occurred more frequently on weekdays than other ignition heat sources, and the number of victims and the number of victims were the highest, so mobilization of firefighting power and property damage were the greatest. The initial ignition was generated by electric and electronic devices, and the combustion was expanded by the synthetic resin. For fires caused by cigarette and lighter fires, the most fires occurred on Saturdays and Sundays, and the mobilization of the police force was more characteristic than the mobilization of the firefighting force. In particular, it was found that the initial ignition and combustion expansion were caused by paper, wood, and hay. Fires caused by sparks and sparks occurred most frequently on Saturdays and Sundays, and initial ignition and combustion expansion were found to be caused by paper, wood, and hay. In particular, it showed the characteristic that it occurred in the place farthest from the fire station. The common characteristic of all ignition heat sources was that the fire occurred most frequently in the afternoon time, and the fire type was predominantly the building structure fire, and only the ignition point was burned the most. Conclusion: In order to prevent fire and minimize damage, it is necessary to analyze the tendency of fire occurrence and to prepare appropriate preparations according to the fire occurrence factors. In order to analyze the characteristics of fire occurrence using public data in the future, it is necessary to standardize disaster data and to open and activate data.
This study set three kinds of situation and observed the various states such as carbonization by experimenting damages by fire of electric iron. The results of this study are as follows: The fire did not occurred when the unpowered iron over mattress and cotton shirts was com busted completely by external flame because the temperature of surface of soleplate and mattress did not reach the minimum ignition energy and when the powered electric iron over mattress and cotton shirts was left for an hour with its temperature dial set to high because the temperature of combustibles did not reach the minimum ignition energy. The fire occurred when the electric iron in which the outer box, bi-metal switch, and temperature fuse were removed over mattress and cotton shirts was powered by through heater terminal, and then the electric iron, mattress, and cotton shirts were combusted by the fallen combustibles because the temperature of combustibles reached to the minimum ignition energy with the help of active transfer of heat.
Research to discuss the fire performance of materials requires tools for measuring their burning characteristics and validated fire growth models to predict fire behavior of the materials under specific tire scenarios using the measured properties as input for the models. In this study, burning characteristics such as time to ignition, weight loss rate, flame spread, heat release rate, total heat evolved, and effective heat of combustion for four types of wood-based materials were evaluated using the cone calorimeter and inclined panel tests. Time to ignition was affected by not only surface condition and specific gravity of the tested materials but also the type and magnitude of heat source. Results of weight loss rate, measured by inclined panel tests, indicated that heat transfer from the contacted flame used as the heat source into the inner part of the specimen was inversely proportional to specific gravity of material. Flame spread was closely related with ignition time at the near part of burning zone. Under constant and severe external heat flux, there was little difference in weight loss rate and total heat evolved between four types of wood-based panels. More applied heat flux caused by longer ignition time induced a higher first peak value of heat release rate. Burning characteristics data measured in this study can be used effectively as input for fire growth models to predict the fire behavior of materials under specific fire scenarios.
This paper presents an study on the knowledge based system for diagnosing the fire causes using the Fuzzy Possibility Measure( FPM ) about the electric-fire ignition. The Ignition values needed for causes diagnosis is computed as FPM for electric-fire ignition based on the internal scale technique that assigns numerically the characteristic difference of facts to the-tin-ear scale. For the convinience of inference, ignition sources are classified into seven types : short, ground fault, leakge of electricity, overcurrent, cord junction overheating, bad Insulation and spark. The system for causes diagnosis of electric-fire is composed of Knowledge Acquisition System, Inference Engine and Man-Machine Interface, The diagnosis system is wrritten in an artificial intelligence langusge “PROLOG” which uses depth-first search and backward chaining schemes in reasoning process.

While wood pellets are often used as a fuel in thermoelectric power plants and firewood boilers, there is a risk of ignition temperature when strong wood pellets, which have a high calorific value, for prolonged periods of time. In this research study, the minimum auto ignition temperature and the ignition limitation temperature according to the change in flow rate depending on the size of the test vessel were calculated, and based on these temperatures, the apparent activation energy was calculated to predict the combustive properties of the material. The apparent activation energy was calculated to be 190.224 kJ/mol. The thicker the sample is storage in the vessel, the longer the ignition induction time was due to the increased difficulty in heat being transferred from the surface of the vessel to the middle section area of the vessel. For vessel of the same size, the higher the flow rate, the lower the auto ignition temperature was. It was also confirmed that increases in the size of the test vessel lowered the auto ignition temperature and increased the ignition induction time.
The spontaneous ignition of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC) was investigated at constant ambient temperature in the oven and minimum ignition temperature of dust clouds with Godbret-Creenwald Furnace respectively, In the experiments of the vessel filled with sample. the larger the vessel was the lower the spontaneous ignition temperature and ambient temperature was calculated from the Frank-Kamenetskii thermal ignition theory. The minimum ignition temperature for the dust cloud state was found under 21% oxygen concentration. At the experiment with the change of oxygen concentration, HPMC was not ignite at 10% $O_2$and so the limiting oxygen concentration was obtained at 10%.

This study is focused on the ignition of ceiling insulation depending on working condition of Sprinkler head in underground parking lot fire. When temperature changes of same point were measured depending on sprinkler's working condition, in Scenario 1, inner temperature at border of spray applied material(SP-2) of ceiling part near the fire and ceiling insulation(blowing polystyrene) was 658.27℃ and its which inner maximum temperature is higher than 427℃ which is the ignition point of ceiling insulation(blowing polistyrene), so it was observed that flame is ignited on the ceiling insulation and spread fire. In scenario 2, Inner fire temperature at border of spray applied material(SP-2) and ceiling insulation(blowing polystyrene) near the fire was 53.10℃ and it was lower than ignition point so it was observed that flame was not ignated on the ceiling insulation. As a result, it was foreseen that possibility of ignition on the ceiling insulation depending on working condition of sprinkler.
