  • The Emergency Exit System is evacuation equipment that operated by crew or passenger when emergency state such as fire, accident, etc in the rolling stock. Generally front emergency exit is installed in the drivers area and it is isolated to passenger area, so its design is little big easy. But front emergency exit that is installed in driverless vehicle have to consider not only anti-vandalism and failure but also its design because it is installed in the passenger area. Therefore, we survey the characteristic, function and needed condition the emergency front exit of driverless vehicle and present the developing system that can be a help to make design.

Technical study on quantitative analysis of the toxic gas concerning the combustion property of interior materials of railway car (철도차량용 내장 재료의 연소특성을 고려한 유해가스 정량분석 기법연구)

  • In previous fire accident of railway car, the fatality was relatively high by toxic gas poisoning cause of closed space. So the necessity of quantifying toxic gas in combustion gas was recognized and then, FT-IR spectroscopy was introduced for real-time analysis of mixed gases and stimulated analysis of the concentration of several gases. Thus, in this study, absorption bands using FT-IR were obtained by each component of combustion gases for interior materials of railway car such as flooring materials and moquette seat. And then the sample spectra were compared with the spectra of NO, $NO_2$, $SO_2$ reference gases, we could obtain some identical peaks of them.

  • MRT has various surveillance systems for passenger's safety and facility protection which are consisted of fire detection, trespasser observation and so on. However, these systems are not closely related each other because it is designed just for its own purpose, so it could be make wrong decision to surveillance system without important information to determine an accident or disaster. For more accurate event detection, surveillance system needs total situation-aware method using complementary data. This study introduces context-aware system for complex and accurate event detection. Therefore, we apply context-aware system to MRT surveillance system, selecting context-aware parameters and appling them to it.

  • Due to almost all tracks of new Kyoungbu high-speed lines(HSL) consisting of bridges and tunnels, HSR operational safety management is very important factor for passenger safety and preventing catastrophic event. Especially, it is important to approach the scene of the accident and assist in saving lives as soon as possible under emergency conditions. Therefore it is essential to prepare access methods and available resources in advance in order to support emergency correspodances promptly and effectively. This paper persents an application of geographical information system(GIS) for developing emergency management system as well as batabase system on tracks and facilities, electric/communication equipment and safety equipment required to support emergencies. The on-site information on the proximity of HSL is expressed on the numerical map, which can be helpful to call external supports such as medical service, local authorities, police offices, fire brigades, and etc. for the emergency situations.

  • Even though newly formed schools do struggle to strengthen their security in safety, existed schools have limitations for active response against natural disaster. From analyzing the results of accident cases and states in misfortune and the safety supervision of school facilities, it is said that damages by wind, flood and fire are typical types of disaster accidents. Also, according to the basic law of misfortune and the safety supervision, it emphasizes education, training, and actions that prevent from being a victim of natural disaster. In terms of these finding, establishing disaster safety organization, control system and having students an opportunity to learn how to response against disaster should be critical component in managing disaster safety of school facilities.

  • Safety of breaking facility is very important in subway safety, especially in case of subway that many people used, breaking capability is connected directly with safety and capability of vehicle. Recently, direction of subway technical development is established as passenger's convenience and agreeableness. However, we are known importance of safety in subway through Dae-gu subway incendiary case. Subway accident not happen only fire, vehicle collisions or passenger's fall to the track can happen. In this case, safety standard of breaking facilities is very important. so this paper define safety of breaking facilities and take proper that standard.

  • Most of the transmission lines in Korea pass through a mountains. The forest fire occurred in around the transmission lines make an accident such as flashover and faults in the power transmission lines. In spite of that risk, there are no research on the flashover characteristics by fires in electric discharge engineering in our country. This paper was mentioned about the relation between the flame and flashover characteristics. We were carried out simple test by using artificial flame generator and rod-plane or conductor-plane gaps. And we were summarized test results.

  • Because the Nuclear power plant needs for the specific high stability and the confidence, it is required that cable shall be flame retardant at fire and endure to be exposed by radiation, chemical fluid, steam and high temperature at sudden accident condition and be maintained its capability on nomal operation up to 40 years as same as it's service life for Nuclear Power Plant. Consequently, In this report, we describe the terms of Environmental Qualification Test for cable and properties required for cable which developed for Nuclear Power Plant.

  • Wireless sensor network-related application system can perform functions such as environmental pollution monitoring, building control, home automation in future. In this paper, we present wireless sensor network based system for subway station in order to reduce the damage of the people and the subway station due to fire. Sensor nodes in this system can sense temperature, illumination, smoke, and human body in real time and detect the accident in the subway station. These real-time sensing and wireless networking minimize casualties and damage to property.

  • Progressive collapse is one of the factors which if not predicted at the time of structure plan; its occurrence will lead to catastrophic damages. Through having a glance over important structures chronicles in the world, we will notice that the reason of their collapse is a minor damage in structure caused by an accident like a terrorist attack, smashing a vehicle, fire, gas explosion, construction flaws and its expanding. Progressive collapse includes expanding rudimentary rupture from one part to another which leads to total collapse of a structure or a major part it. This study examines the progressive collapse of a 5-story concrete building with three column eliminating scenarios, including the removal of the corner, side and middle columns with the ABAQUS software. Then the beams and the bottom of the concrete slab were reinforced by (reinforcement of carbon fiber reinforced polymer) FRP and then the structure was re-analyzed. The results of the analysis show that the reinforcement of carbon fiber reinforced polymer sheets is one of the effective ways to rehabilitate and reduce the progressive collapse in concrete structures.
