  • The shopping center in underground passage increased for efficient space utilization in urban area. This study describes operation characteristics of all air type and hybrid type with local ventilation and fan coil unit fixed to ceiling. In order to compare energy saving, thermal environment and installation space, etc., integrated simulator with heat production and indoor distribution system is designed and constructed. Energy saving of the hybrid system is calculated as over 30% compared to conventional all air type. And also the results showed that humidity decreased about 6%, also indoor thermal distribution is improved as temperature variation of around $1^{\circ}C$.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the disaster response competencies of 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Methods: The subjects of this study were 226 119 EMT's at the fire station located in G province. The questionnaire consisted of 5 sub-factors and 29 items for measuring disaster response competencies and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS program. Results: Disaster response competency comprising immediate response, patient triage, patient treatment, patient transport, and collaboration support were 3.48, 3.64, 3.52, 3.64, and 3.16, respectively. Advanced EMTs scored significantly higher in patient triage (p<.001), treatment (p<.001), and transport (p=.022) competency than basic EMTs. Conclusion: In order to improve disaster response competency, it is necessary not only to enhance individual ability but also to continue disaster management training with related organizations.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of resilience, traumatic events, secondary traumatic stress, and calling reported by firefighters and to identify the factors affecting the resilience of firefighters. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires and 200 fire officials working in D city were enrolled as the subjects. Data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0, and the analyses included descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression. Results: The difference in resilience according to general characteristics showed significant differences in health status (F=4.33, p=.014) and job satisfaction (F=6.13, p=.003). The factors affecting resilience were identified as calling (β=.25, p<.001), and the explanatory power for resilience was 19.2%. Conclusion: It is necessary to increase calling in order to increase resilience. Therefore, we suggest that professional education and programs that consider personal characteristics are needed to strengthen the calling.

  • The prototype of forest fire management system on Web was studied. In the architecture of this system, one of the most important concerns is to handle load upcoming to Web Server so that it provides Web service without any delay or failure. In order to solve this problem, the agent is designed on dispatcher in a Web server cluster and implemented to distribute load dynamically by considering the information related to load coming to the Web Server such as the number of connection to the Map Server. The proposed forest fire management system has user-friendly interface with the GIS mapping functionality by selecting Map Objects Internet Map Server (MO IMS) as Map Server and is implemented using Java as programming language.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to understand the status of continuing education of the EMTs of the Korean fire department, to identify demand of them for content, method, and forms of the education, and to present basic data for developing more efficient, effective continuing education programs. Methods : The subjects of this study were 850 of the EMTs of the Korean fire department who work for fire stations located in Seoul and part of Gyeonggi-do and directly provide critical care in the field. The data was collected between February 8 and 28, 2010. Using SPSS 17.0 program, we obtained frequencies percentages, means, and standard deviations, and performed independent two sample t-test, one way ANOVA, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results : 1) As for status of the existing continuing education for of the EMTs of the Korean fire department, in general, the hour of each education was "less than four hours" (51.2%), the instructors of the education were "doctors" (65.2%), the method of the education was "lecture" (83.3%), the material for the education was "educational materials and slides" (97.2%), and the results from the education were "not helpful in job" (55.1%). 2) The effects of the EMTs of the Korean fire department were mean 2.44(${\pm}.51$), the ability was mean 2.40(${\pm}.50$), and the attitude was mean 2.49(${\pm}.57$) points. 3) As for the demands of the EMTs of the Korean fire department on the next continuing education, they preferred "the advanced cardiac life support(ACLS)" ($2.64{\pm}.62$) most in subject content, "investigating the demands of 119 emergency medical technicians annually" (44.1%) in methods to select subjects of the continuing education, "doctors and professors of Department of Emergency Medical Technology" in instructors of the education (190 persons, or 39.9%), "lectures with practices" in methods of the education (30.1%), and "One per year" (41.6%) and "less than four hours" (67.2%) in the period and hours of the text continuing education they hope. Conclusion : The continuing education for the EMTs of the Korean fire department conducts without accepting the demands of the technicians, In planning of the next continuing education, the results of this study suggest that it is needed to develop more various and professional educational program by active acquisition of the demands of the technicians.

  • This paper describes a cause of fire accidents on power system for DC electric traction vehicles. We investigated fire scene of power line for DC electric traction vehicles. From analysis results, the cause of fire on power line turned out line to ground fault between a feeder of electric power services(pantagraph) and DC electric traction vehicle roof. Fire accidents of DC electric traction vehicles be assumed that electric sparks had been produced between the pantagraph and the power line conductor by repetitively making contact and separation, maybe if some material like branches get in between connecting rod it make progress line to ground fault. ZnO arresters are widely used to protect DC electric traction vehicles against overvoltages caused by lightning or switching surges. However, the arresters are deteriorated by commercial frequency overvoltages and/or lightning one. Deteriorated arresters could lead power failures, such as line to ground fault by a thermal runaway resulting from the increases in leakage current even in a nominal power system voltage. The power failures, such as line to ground fault would be causative of the fire accidents.

  • Purpose: By analyzing the health status of emergency patients on islands in the Jeollanam-do province, this study aims to provide basic data for proposed future medical emergency services on the islands. This information includes monthly and hourly statistics on patients' characteristics, patient frequency, an analysis of first aid procedures, response times, and time spent at hospitals. Methods: The study analyzed the monthly and hourly frequency of emergency patients, first aid status and procedures, general patient characteristics, accident types, patient cognitive status and agility, marine police response times, and frequency and percentile of hospital dispatch times. Results: 1Q and #q show the highest patient turnover rate in one year. 50.5% of daily patients are admitted between 4 PM and 12 PM. The hospital dispatch time is within a one- to two-hour window for 54.0% of all patients. Conclusion: The emergency medical service system for the Jeollanam-do province islands and seas is available to all Korean residents, citizens, and visitors. It is necessary to implement an emergency medical system for the relevant organizations.
