전기시스템의 절전모드에 적용되는 PCB의 오작동 원인 개선에 관한 연구 (Study on the Causes of Malfunctions of PCBs Applied to the Power Saving Mode of Electrical Systems and its Solution)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the causes of malfunctions and defective operation of printed circuit boards(PCBs) built into home refrigerators to perform power saving functions. This study performed an electrostatic test of a PCB built-in using an Auto Triggering system; lightning and impulse tests using an LSS-15AX; and an impulse test using an INS-400AX. From the analysis of a secondarily developed product, it was found that electrostatic discharge(ESD) caused more malfunctions and defective operations than electric overstress(EOS) due to overvoltage. As a result of increasing the condenser capacity of the PCB circuit, withstanding voltage was increased to 7.4 kV. In addition, this study changed the power saving mode and connected a varistor to the #2 pin of an IC chip. As a result, the system consisting of all specimens of a finally developed product was operated stably with an applied voltage of less than 10 kV. This study found it necessary to perform quality control at the manufacturing stage in order to reduce the occurrence of electrostatic accidents to IC chips built into a PCB.

방화(放火)화재의 특성 및 방재대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics and the Disaster Prevention Measures of Incendiary Fire)

  • 본 연구는 인위적인 방화(放火)화재로부터 귀중한 생명과 재산 피해를 최대한 억제하고 예방하기 위한 방재대책을 제안하기 위한 것으로, 화재 공학적 측면에서 방화(放火)화재에 대한 특성을 분석하여 그 위험에 대처할 수 있도록 방재대책 추진방안을 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 방화범의 범행 동기나 행위 등 심리적이고 정신적인 분석과 같은 의학적인 면과 방화범의 법적체벌 관련사항과 같은 법률적이고 행정적인 문제 등은 연구범위에서 제외하였으며, 방화화재 발생 실태를 분석하기 위하여 국내 및 일본, 미국의 화재통계자료를 조사하였다. 특히, 일반화재와 방화화재의 연소특성을 정량적으로 파악하기 위하여 화재모형 실험 및 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고, 방화화재 방재대책 추진방안을 제시하였다.

가속 열화 시험에 따른 저압용 차단기의 물리적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Physical Characteristics of the Low-voltage Circuit Breaker Based on the Accelerated Degradation Test)

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of insulation resistance and operating time based on an accelerated degradation test of a low-voltage circuit breaker. The experimental sample used a molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) and an earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB). After measuring the insulation resistance of the circuit breakers, the leakage current was affected by an external rather than an internal structure. Furthermore, the insulation resistance of the circuit breakers with accelerated degradation was measured using a Megger insulation tester. In the accelerated degradation test, aging times of five, ten, 15, and 20 years were applied according to a temperature derived using the Arrhenius equation. Circuit breakers with an equivalent life of ten, 15, and 20 years had increased insulation resistance compared to those with less degradation time. In particular, the circuit breaker with an equivalent life of ten years had the highest insulation resistance. Component analysis of the circuit breaker manufactured through an accelerated degradation test confirmed that the timing of the increase in insulation resistance and the time of additive loss were the same. Finally, after analyzing the operating time of the circuit breakers with degradation, it was confirmed that the MCCB did not change, but the ELCB breaker failed.

공동주택의 발코니 유·무가 화염분출 특성에 미치는 영향 연구 (The Influence of the Presence of Balconies on Flame Acceleration in Multi-unit Dwellings)

  • 우리는 21세기 하이테크(hightech) 시대에 살고 있다. 산업화의 발달로 우리는 물질적 기술적 진보에 따른 인구이동으로 인하여 시설의 쏠림 현상으로 거대도시(metropolis)를 넘어 거대도시권(megalopolis)이 형성되어 건축물의 초고층화, 지하화(지하철, 쇼핑센터 등), 대형화를 이루면서 주거문화 역시 바뀌었다. 인구의 과밀화 속에서 핵가족화 및 1인가구의 증가로 아파트 및 도시형 생활주택이 제도적 안전규제보다 빠른 속도로 확대되어왔다. 본 연구에서는 아파트화재 사례를 통해 시사하는 점을 분석하고, 아파트 실물화재실험을 통해 공동주택(아파트)화재 연소성상을 연구하였다. 그 결과 화재 사례분석 결과와 같이 발코니 확장형 아파트 보다 발코니 비확장형 아파트가 화재 연소의 확산 속도를 줄여주는 것으로 검증 되었다. 사례 및 실험 결과를 근거하여 공동주택 화재 안전대책 및 대응시스템이 개선되어야 한다.

  • This paper introduces experimental investigates of an electrical accident of the distributing cable termination with simulated badness construction. We prepared two termination kites, one is built-up type, the other is heat contraction type. Also, we manufactured cable termination that have simulated defect by badness construction and measured their insulation characteristics such as ac (35kV, 1min) and impulse (95kV, $1.2{\times}50{\mu}s$) withstand test. The influence of defects such as thickness and the gap between stress-con of housing and semi-conductor on insulating properties of the termination have been studied. The thickness decrease of insulator decreases ac breakdown strength. Dielectric breakdown traces of insulator that is damaged by knife displayed other shape. The gap of between housing and semiconductor deteriorates dielectric strength of insulator seriously.

  • Modern systems development becomes more and more complicated due to the need on the ever-increasing capability of the systems. In addition to the complexity issue, safety concern is also increasing since the malfunctions of the systems under development may result in the accidents in both the test and evaluation phase and the operation phase. Light rail transit(LRT) with passenger capacity between bus and subway is driven by an unmanned control, so safety issues of LRT in emergency shall be considered more carefully than other rolling stock. Modern railway system is a complex system and many actions in emergency are required. In this view, interoperability approach is effective to identify the related elements in emergency. In this paper, we propose the method to generate the fire response scenario of unmann ed LRT based on the outputs of systems engineering architecture design methodology. The proposed method is could be contributed to establish more reliable and applicable fire response scenario.

전기차용 고전압 케이블의 화재 위험성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Risk of High-voltage Cables for Electrical Vehicles)

  • This study presents the characteristics of short circuits (SCs) caused by excessive currents in high-voltage cables used in electric vehicles and emphasizes the need to calculate the cross-sectional areas of these cables according to the SC current. Three direct current power supplies were connected in parallel to test the SC characteristics caused by excessive currents, and a timer and a magnetic contactor were used to deliver the conduction time and SC current. A circular infrared-radiation heater was used to test the temperature-dependent SC characteristics, a thermocouple was used to measure the temperature, and a shunt resistor was used to measure the current. As the SC current increased, the fusing time of the cable decreased. Additionally, a high-voltage cable (with an area of 16 mm2 ) used in electric vehicles fused when a current (approximately equal to 55 times the allowable current) flowed for 0.2 s (operating time of the protective device). When the SC current is 10 kA, the cable may fuse during the operating time of the protective device, thus creating a fire hazard. In electric vehicles, the size of the SC current increases in proportion to the capacity of the battery. Thus, the cross-sectional areas of the cables used should be calculated accordingly, and cable operations should be properly coordinated with the surrounding protective devices.

Moment curvature method for fire safety design of steel beams

  • This paper presents a moment-curvature method that accounts for the strength deterioration of steel at elevated temperature in estimating the response of steel beams exposed to fire. A modification to the EC4 method is proposed for a better estimation of the temperature distribution in the steel beam supporting a concrete slab. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by comparing the results with established test results and the nonlinear finite element analysis results. The beam failure criterion based on a maximum strain of 0.02 is proposed to assess the limiting temperature as compared to the traditional criteria that rely on deflection limit or deflection rate. Extensive studies carried out on steel beams with various span lengths, load ratios, beam sizes and loading types show that the proposed failure criterion gives consistent results when compared to nonlinear finite element results.

  • It is mainly due to the toxic gases, produced from the material combustion, threatens human body in case of urban railway car like subway which passes through underground tunnel. In the field of railway industry, fire accidents was not frequent but occurs in each country and, the causes was investigated. The advanced country established the test standard (e.g., BS, EN) to measure the toxic gases quantitatively and, have applied to enhance the fire safety of railway car. We must also follow the procedures to use gangway material for railway car as stated the Safety regulation for the urban railway car. In this study, various gangway materials(silicon, synthtic rubber, soaltapulin) are used to investigate element of toxic gases when the fire occurs. The amount of toxic gases measured from the ISO 5659 chamber using cone heater was measured and compared the results for each materials.

복합소재 고체 가연물의 화재 시 발생되는 열방출률의 FDS 예측 특성 (Characteristics of Heat Release Rate Predictions of Fire by a Fire Dynamics Simulator for Solid Combustible Materials)

  • 복합소재 고체 가연물의 화재발생시 발생되는 열방출률을 ISO 9705 룸코너 시험을 통해 측정하였고 Fire dynamics simulator (FDS)에서 제공하는 열방출률 예측모델을 이용하여 전산해석을 수행하였다. 복합소재 고체 가연물로는 PU폼과 PP, 철재로 대부분 구성되어있는 영화관 의자를 선정하였다. FDS에서 제공되는 열방출률 예측방법을 단순모델과 열분해 모델로 구분하고 각각의 모델을 적용하여 동일한 조건에서 전산 해석한 결과, 열분해 모델을 통해 예측된 열방출률과 화재성장율이 단순모델을 이용하는 경우에 비해 ISO 9705 룸 코너 시험을 통해 측정된 결과와 잘 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다.
