Life table studies were conducted in the laboratory for the eulophid gregarious pupal parasitoid, Tetrastichus sp., on Hyphantria cunea Drury at a constant temperature of 28.2$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$, 50-60% RH to evaluate their impact on the host and their potential biological control. Development of immature stage took 20.1$\pm$2.7 d: adult females lived for 23.2$\pm$2.2 (range, 16-27)d and produced a mean of 53.6$\pm$26.6 adult progeny per female, with a sex ratio of 1: 9.5 (M:F). The intrinsic rate of natural increase (r$_{m}$) was 0.178/ female/day; the net reproductive rate (R$_{o}$), 46.74; the capacity for increase (r$_{c}$) 0.177; the finite rate of increase (λ) 1.19/female/day; thus each female contributed 46.74 individuals to the population in a mean generation time of 21.6 d. Biological factors in determining the life history trait variation of the parasitoid were discussed.d.d.d.

This paper deals with the bias and variance of regression coefficient estimators in a finite population. We derive approximate formulas for the bias, variance and mean square error of two estimators when we select a fixed-size inclusion probability proportional to the size sample and then estimate regression coefficients by the ordinary least square estimator as well as the weighted least square estimator based on the selected sample data. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the comparison of the two estimators in terms of variance and mean square error are suggested. In addition, a simple example is introduced to numerically compare the variance and mean square error of the two estimators.

This paper proposes multivariate process capability indices (PCIs) for skewed populations using $T^2$rand modified process region approaches. The proposed methods are based on the multivariate version of a weighted standard deviation method which adjusts the variance-covariance matrix of quality characteristics and approximates the probability density function using several multivariate Journal distributions with the adjusted variance-covariance matrix. Performance of the proposed PCIs is investigated using Monte Carlo simulation, and finite sample properties of the estimators are studied by means of relative bias and mean square error.

Singh (2013) considered the dual problem to the calibration of design weights to obtain a new generalized linear regression estimator (GREG) for the finite population total. In this work, we have made an attempt to suggest a way to use the dual calibration of the design weights in case of multi-auxiliary variables; in other words, we have made an attempt to give an answer to the concern in Remark 2 of Singh (2013) work. The same idea is also used to generalize the GREG estimator proposed by Deville and S$\ddot{a}$rndal (1992). It is not an easy task to find the optimum values of the parameters appear in our approach; therefore, few suggestions are mentioned to select values for such parameters based on a random sample. Based on real data set and under simple random sampling without replacement design, our approach is compared with other approaches mentioned in this paper and for different sample sizes. Simulation results show that all estimators have negligible relative bias, and the multivariate case of Singh (2013) estimator is more efficient than other estimators.
We have frequently encountered the rapid changes that prevalent opinion of the social community is toppled by a new and opposite opinion against the pre-exiting one. To understand this interesting process, mean-field model with infinite-interaction range has been mostly considered in previous studies S. A. Marvel et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 118702 (2012). However, the mean-field interaction range is lack of reality in the sense that any individual cannot interact with all of the others in the community. Based on it, in the present work, we consider a simple model of opinion consensus so-called basic model on the low-dimensional lattices (d = 1, 2) with finite interaction range. The model consists of four types of subpopulations with different opinions: A, B, AB, and the zealot of A denoted by $A_c$, following the basic model shown in the work by S. A. Marvel et al.. Comparing with their work, we consider the finite range of the interaction, and particularly reconstruct the lattice structure by adding new links when the two individuals have the distance < ${\sigma}$. We explore how the interaction range ${\sigma}$ affects the opinion consensus process on the reconstructed lattice structure. We find that the critical fraction of population for $A_c$ required for the opinion consensus on A shows different behaviors in the small and large interaction ranges. Especially, the critical fraction for $A_c$ increases with the size of ${\sigma}$ in the region of small interaction range, which is counter-intuitive: When the interaction range is increased, not only the number of nodes affected by $A_c$ but also that affected by B grows, which is believed to cause the increasing behavior of the critical fraction for $A_c$. We also present the difference of dynamic process to the opinion consensus between the regions of small and large interaction ranges.

Let F be a life distribution with finite mean $\mu$ Then F is said to be in new better then worse than used in expectation (NBWUE(p)) class if $\varphi(u) {\geq} u$ for $0 {\leq}u{\leq}t_0$ and ${\varphi}(u) {\leq} u$ for $t_0< u {\leq} 1$ where ${\varphi}(u)$ is the scaled total-time-on-test transform and $p=F(t_0)$. We propose a testing procedure for $H_0$ : F is exponential against $H_1$ : NBWUE(p), and is not expontial, (or $H_1\;'$ : F is NWBUE (p), and is not exponential) using randomly censored data. Our procedure assumes kmowledge of the proportion p of the population that fail at or before the change-point $\t_0$. Know ledge of $\t_0$ itself is not assumed. The asymptotic normality of the test statistic is established and a Monte Carlo experiment is performed to investigate the speed of convergence of the test statistic to normality. The power of our test is also studied.
Axial compression capacity (Pu) is a significant yet complex parameter of concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns. This study offers a novel ensemble tool, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) supervised by equilibrium optimization (EO), for accurately predicting this parameter. Moreover, grey wolf optimization (GWO) and Harris hawk optimizer (HHO) are considered as comparative supervisors. The used data is taken from earlier literature provided by finite element analysis. ANFIS is trained by several population sizes of the EO, GWO, and HHO to detect the best configurations. At a glance, the results showed the competency of such ensembles for learning and reproducing the Pu behavior. In details, respective mean absolute errors along with correlation values of 4.1809% and 0.99564, 10.5947% and 0.98006, and 4.8947% and 0.99462 obtained for the EO-ANFIS, GWO-ANFIS, and HHO-ANFIS, respectively, indicated that the proposed EO-ANFIS can analyze and predict the behavior of CFST columns with the highest accuracy. Considering both time and accuracy, the EO provides the most efficient optimization of ANFIS and can be a nice substitute for experimental approaches.
Purpose : A universal standard of the birth weight for gestational age cannot be made since girth weight distribution varies with race and other sociodemographic factors. This report aims to establish the birth weight distribution curve by gestational age, specific for Korean live births. Methods : We used the national birth certificate data of all live births in Korea from January 2001 to December 2003; for live births with gestational ages 24 weeks to 44 weeks(n=1,509,763), we obtained mean birth weigh, standard deviation and 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentile values for each gestational age group by one week increment. Then, we investigated the birth weight distribution of each gestational age group by the normal Gaussian model. To establish final standard values of Korean birth weight distribution by gestational age, we used the finite mixture model to eliminate erroneous birth slights for respective gestational ages. Results : For gestational ages 28 weeks 32 weeks, birth weight distribution showed a biologically implausible skewed tail or bimodal distribution. Following correction of the erroneous distribution by using the finite mixture model, the constructed curve of birth weight distribution was compared to those of other studies. The Korean birth weight percentile values were generally lower than those for Norwegians and North Americans, particularly after 37 weeks of gestation. The Korean curve was similar to that of Lubchenco both 50th and 90th percentiles, but generally the Korean curve had higher 10th percentile values. Conclusion : This birth weight distribution curve by gestational age is based on the most recent and the national population data compared to previous studies in Korea. We hope that for Korean infants, this curve will help clinicians in defining and managing the large for gestational age infants and also for infants with intrauterine growth retardation.
In this paper we investigate design-based properties of both the ordinary least square estimator and the weighted least square estimator for regression coefficients in panel regression model. We derive formulas of approximate bias, variance and mean square error for the ordinary least square estimator and approximate variance for the weighted least square estimator after linearization of least square estimators. Also we compare their magnitudes each other numerically through a simulation study. We consider a three years data of Korean Welfare Panel Study as a finite population and take household income as a dependent variable and choose 7 exploratory variables related household as independent variables in panel regression model. Then we calculate approximate bias, variance, mean square error for the ordinary least square estimator and approximate variance for the weighted least square estimator based on several sample sizes from 50 to 1,000 by 50. Through the simulation study we found some tendencies as follows. First, the mean square error of the ordinary least square estimator is getting larger than the variance of the weighted least square estimator as sample sizes increase. Next, the magnitude of mean square error of the ordinary least square estimator is depending on the magnitude of the bias of the estimator, which is large when the bias is large. Finally, with regard to approximate variance, variances of the ordinary least square estimator are smaller than those of the weighted least square estimator in many cases in the simulation.
Purpose : A universal standard of the birth weight for gestational age cannot be made since birth weight distribution varies with races, nations and eras. This report aims to establish the birth weight for gestational age patterns by sex, plurality, and parity, specific for Korean live births. Methods : The national birth certificate data of all live births in Korea from January 2000 to December 2004 were used: for live births with gestational age 24 weeks to 42 weeks (n=2,585,5160), mean birth weight, standard deviation and 10th, 25th, 75th and 90th percentile values were obtained for each gestational age group by one week increment. To establish final standard values of Korean birth weight distribution by gestational age, the finite mixture model to eliminated erroneous birth weights was used for respective gestational age. Same as above method the birth weight for gestational age standard by sex, plurality, and parity were completed. Results : The male newborns are more heavier than female during the entire gestational age. The singletons are more heavier than twin during the entire gestational age. The para 2 are more heavier than the para 1 during the entire gestational age. Korean standard was more heavier in 10th and 50th percentile than Lubchenco's standard. Alexander's standard was more heavier in 50th and 90th percentile than Korean standard. Conclusion : These birth weight for gestational age patterns by sex, plurality, and parity are similar to the other standards. I hope that for Korean infants, this curve will help clinicians in defining and managing the large for gestational age infants and also for infants with intrauterine growth retardation.
