Seasonal Variation Studies and Pharmacognostic Evaluation of Alstonia scholaris R.Br. Bark

  • Alstonia scholaris is known as 'Saptaparna' in Ayurvedic System of Medicines and the bark is used for the treatment of various diseases. It has various ethnomedicinal values as different traditional communities find diverse medicinal properties. The present communication deals with the seasonal variation studies of the stem bark of this plant. The bark was collected in the month of January, July and November. There is no macro-microscopical changes in all the three seasons but the ash values showed significant differences. Crude fibre content showed sharp decline from January to July to November. Total tannin percentage was found maximum in January and minimum in June. TLC finger print profile showed more concentration of constituents in January as compared to June and November. Hence, the bark may show more efficacy when collected in January.

  • In this paper, we present a grasp planning method using grasp taxonomy and object primitives. Our grasp taxonomy includes newly defined grasp methods such as thumb supported pinch and palm supported pinch, to enhance grasp robustness. On the target surface, locations of finger-print that will be contacted by the robot fingers are sampled. The sampling is made to be consistent to the grasp taxonomy, called preformed grasps, matched to the target object. We perform simulations to examine the validity and the efficacy of the proposed grasp planning method.

Analysis of Fingerprint Recognition Characteristics Based on New CGH Direct Comparison Method and Nonlinear Joint Transform Correlator

  • Fingerprint recognition using a joint transform correlator (JTC) is the most well-known technology among optical fingerprint recognition methods. The JTC method optically compares the reference fingerprint image with the sample fingerprint image then examines match or non-match by acquiring a correlation peak. In contrast to the JTC method, this paper presents a new method to examine fingerprint recognition by producing a computer generated hologram (CGH) of those two fingerprint images and directly comparing them. As a result, we present some parameters to show that fingerprint recognition capability of the CGH direct comparison method is superior to that of the JTC method.

문서지문기법을 이용한 웹 문서의 자동 분류

  • As documents in webs are increasing explosively due to the rapid development of electronic documents, an efficient system classifying documents automatically is required. In this study, a new document classification method, which is called Document Finger Print Method, is suggested to classify web documents automatically and efficiently. The performance of the suggested method is evaluated alone with other existing methods such as key words based method, weighted key words based method, neural networks, and decision trees. An experiment is designed with 10 documents categories and 59 randomly selected words. The result shows that the suggested algorithm has a superior classifying performance compared to other methods. The most important advantage of this method is that the suggested method works well without the size limits of the number of words in documents.

  • 본 논문에서는 지문인식 과정의 비용을 줄임으로써 보안유지시스템의 활용범위를 보다 확대시키는 기술 응용의 파급효과를 기대하여, 현재 널리 보급된 스캐너 영상입력 장치로 획득된 지문영상 처리 과정을 개선하여 보았다. 먼저 영상향상 단계에서는 비교적 양호하다고 이미 알려진 적응적 이진화 기법을 선택하여 이진화 효과를 높였고, 테이블 매핑(Table Mapping)법을 적용시켜 속도 개선 효과까지 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 과정을 거쳐 추출된 융선의 방향 특징점들이 지문인식 처리에 유효하게 적용됨을 보였다.

히드록시프로필 키틴의 합성과 액정형성 (Synthesis of Hydroxypropyl Chitin and Its Liquid Crystalline Character)

  • 키틴에 산화프로필렌을 반응시켜 키틴의 수산기에 히드록시프로필기가 치환된 히드록시프로필 키틴(HPCH)을 합성하였다. 여러가지 유기 용매중에서 키틴과 그 유도체의 용해성 시험에서 HPCH가 키틴보다 용해성이 향상되었으며 포름산에서 가장 좋은 용해성을 나타내었다. 포름산을 용매로 HPCH용액을 제조하여 농도를 변화시키면서 편광현미경으로 관찰한 결과 30 wt% 이상의 농도에서 지문형태의 복굴절 현상이 나타났으며, 열분석기(DSC)의 분석에서 열적 특성피크는 관찰되지 않아서 HPCH는 콜레스테릭 구조를 갖는 유방성 액정을 확인할 수 있었다.

흑목이 버섯 자실체의 흑갈색 색소 동정 및 특성 (Isolation and Characterization of Dark Brownish Pigments from Fruit Body of Auricularia auricula)

  • A dark brownish pigment from fruit body of Auricularia auricula was isolated and characterized in this report. The pigment was obtained with a yield of 0.61%(w/w) by alkaline extraction and subsequent purification steps. It showed the positive $FeCl_3$ test which was the indication of phenolic compounds. A synthetic melanin showed a similar spectrometric characteristics to the pigment extract regarding a characteristic UV absorption between 200-250 nm and infrared absorptions profiles in the finger print region including absorption peaks at 1701 and 1624 $cm^{-1}$. Its element analysis indicated that its atomic copmposition is close to that of DOPA melanin (eumelanin). With the result of its antioxidant activity in the TNBT (5-thio-2-nitrobenzoic acid) assay, we concluded that the dark brownish pigment from A. auricula is a melanin-like compound having a powerful antioxidative activity.

  • Recently the numbers of patent about the technology for mobile payment with Ie or bluetooth-chip are being increased more and more. The reasons of patent increment for mobile payment are advancement of wireless internet technology and rising of customer's request for it. The customer wants to be able to pay for purchase, tax and aid with own mobile phone. So every mobile service provider applies for patents about that competitively. And in the near future the biometrics is generalized in the mobile payment system. Especially the payment service of iris recognition is significant technique in this area for the future prospect. The biometrics of iris is an accurate authentication method because it has about 250 distinguish parameters to the finger print's 30. The biometrics of iris can recognize and identify a person for 2 seconds. But the image of iris is changed by transformation of body in the life. And the existing iris authentication system has problem that can be miss-recognized. In this paper, we propose the new method that reduces miss-recognizing rate with Renewable Iris Authentication Algorithm(RIAA) in mobile system.

한국인 성인심장의 좌관상동맥 근위부에 대한 형태학적 연구 (The Morphologic Study of the Proximal Part of the Left Coronary Artery in Korean Adult Hearts)

  • It is well known that the morphologic feature of coronary artery is variant as finger print. Left coronary artery is divided into the left anterior descending artery and circumflex artery and supplies almost left atrium, left ventricle and interventricular septum. Clinically, the morphologic features of number of branches and the length of the left main coronary artery are important. In Korea, there are few reports about morphologic study of the coronary artery, and the coronary angiogram and open heart surgery are common. Now the author studied the morphology of the proximal part of the left coronary artery in Korean 50 Adult cadavers and obtained the following results: 1. The length of the left main coronary artery is from 5 mm to 16 mm [mean 9.7 mm]. 2. The diameter of the proximal part of the left coronary artery is from 3.2 mm to 7.7 mm [mean 5.3]. 3. The features of the branching are bifurcation [58%] trifurcation [38%] and quadrifurcation [4%]. 4. The diameter of the left anterior descending artery is from 2.7 mm to 8.1 mm [mean 4.5] and circumflex artery from 2.1 mm to 6.2 mm [mean 3.9].

  • IEEE 802.11 WLAN 표준에 근거한 수신 신호세기 측정치에 기반하여 무선 측위를 수행함에 있어서 이기종 이동기기 수신 감도 문제는 이동기기의 종류가 다양해짐에 따라 중요한 문제로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이기종 이동기기 수신 감도 문제를 효과적으로 극복할 수 있는 Hybrid Kriging 알고리즘을 제안하고 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 그 성능을 분석하였다. 시뮬레이션과 실험 결과에 의하면 동일한 기준 측정치가 주어진 경우 제안된 Hybrid Kriging 알고리즘이 현제 널리 활용되고 있는 위치 지문 알고리즘에 비하여 이동기기 수신 신호세기 바이어스가 존재하는 경우에도 보다 더 정확한 위치해를 생성할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
