  • Several types of burrs form on the edges of all machined and stamped parts. These burrs must be removed to prevent interference fits or short circuits, to improve fatigue life or to prevent injury. Despite the full or partial automation of FMC or FMS, deburring operations to obtain workpiece with fine surface quality are difficult to be automated since the occurrence and condition of burr are not constant. This study focused on developing micro-deburring technique for small electro- parts produced by press process. The successful performance was demonstrated by deburring experiment using the powder blasting.

  • Ribbon type nanocrystalline alloy cores have shown excellent soft magnetic properties in the high frequency range because of small crystalline anisotropy and nearly zero magnetostriction[1]. In present, however ribbon alloys gives some limit in applications such as a large inductor and reactors of PFC circuit, which are required good DC bias property and low loss in the high frequency. Powder alloys with ultra fine grain structure can be an important way to overcome this kind of disadvantage, and to improve the high frequency soft magnetic properties in conventional metallic powder cores[2]. • Zr0.94Y0.06O1.97 powder was synthesized by the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis with various concentrations of starting solution and the influence of powder characteristics on sintering behavior was investigated. Powders prepared at 75$0^{\circ}C$ were characterized as narrowly distributed submicron spherical particles, which were crystalline, nonagglomerated, and compositionally homogeneous. The changes in concentration from 0.01 to 01. mol/ι increased mean particle size from 0.24 to 0.38${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and decreased the specific surface area from 14.2 to 2.9$m^2$/g. The relative density of the specimen from the powders, prepared with the solution concentration of 0.01 mol/ι, was 98% after sintering for 2 hr at 1,45$0^{\circ}C$ and the monoclinic phase was observed after sintering at 1,55$0^{\circ}C$. As the concentration of starting solution was increased, the formation temperature of monoclinic phase was lowered.

  • Nanocrystalline SnO and $SnO_{2}$ powder have been prepared by hydrazine method. Sn-Hydrazine complex was formed by the reduction between aqueous $SnCl_{2}$ solution and hydrazine monohydrate. $SnO_{2}$ nano powder was prepared by the decomposition of Sn-Hydrazine complex at $450^{\circ}C$. When NaOH was added to Sn-hydrazine complex, SnO powder with nano-sheet morphology could be prepared. This can be attributed to the role of $OH^{-}$ ion as a reducing agent.

  • During sintering of cemented carbides abnormal grain growth is often observed but cannot be understood from the classical LSW-theory. A model based on 2-D nucleation of new crystalline layers and a grain-size distribution function is formulated and the equations are solved numerically. Experimental studies and computer simulations show that the initial grain size distribution has a strong effect on the grain growth behavior. For example, a fine-grained powder can grow past a coarser powder.

  • The present paper investigates the possibilities of niobium using for the mechanical properties of the common low alloyed Cu-Ni-Mo-C sintered structural steels enhancing. On both thermodynamic and experimental bases there were demonstrated the Nb nitrides/carbides/carbonitrides preferential formation in these steels during sintering in dissociated ammonia at both common and elevated temperatures. The obtained results for $0.2\;{\div}\;1.0\;%$ fine Nb powder and 0.3% graphite additions to Distaloy AB iron base powder cold compacted and sintered in dissociated ammonia proved the expected strengthening effect, leading to higher mechanical properties of the processed steels than of the common Cu-Ni-Mo-C ones.

  • Rapidly-solidified P/M aluminium alloys for automobile and home appliance industries were developed. Rapidly-solidification made it possible to refine microstructures and to expand the range of alloy composition. For example, Al-Si alloys containing transition metal have lower thermal expansion coefficient, more excellent wear resistance, higher strength, and better machinability than those of conventional aluminium alloys. Therefore, in Japan, the technologies on powder-extrusion and powder-forging of aluminium alloy powders are developed for fifteen years, and applied to several parts, such as cylinder liners of motor cycle engines, rotors and vanes of compressors for car air conditioner, oil pump rotor for racing car, and so on. In this presentation, applications for automobile are mentioned. In particular, cylinder liners made of particle-dispersed composites with fine alumina and graphite are in detail described.

  • Soft magnetic iron powders have been coated with polyester or phenol resin. And the coated powder (soft magnetic composite) have been pressed into ring type core over the pressure of 870 MPa. Green density, magnetic flux density, permeability, core loss of the samples were measured to look at the effect of the coating materials and the amount of them. Green density is increased with the amount of coating materials and shows the maximum value, 6.5 $g/cm^3$ at 5 w/o, but decreased over it. And lowest value of the core loss is showed for the 5 w/o coated samples.

  • This study was to make powder by coprecipitation method and spray dispersion precipitation method in $(1-x)ZrO_2-xMgO$ system to improve sinterability. As the result the specific surface area of powder prepared by spray dispersion precipitation method and coprecipitation method was above $110m^2/g$ and $10-20m^2/g$ respectively. Spray dispersion precipitation method was more effective than coprecipitation method in powder preparation.

  • A new High Frequency Induction Heating (HFIH) process has been developed to fabricate dense $Al_2O_3$ reinforced with Fe-Ni magnetic metal dispersion particles. The process is based on the reduction of metal oxide particles immediately prior to sintering. The synthesized $Al_2O_3$/Fe-Ni nanocomposite powders were formed directly from the selective reduction of metal oxide powders, such as NiO and $Fe_2O_3$. Dense $Al_2O_3$/Fe-Ni nanocomposite was fabricated using the HFIH method with an extremely high heating rate of $2000^{\circ}C/min$. Phase identification and microstructure of nanocomposite powders and sintered specimens were determined by X-ray diffraction and SEM and TEM, respectively. Vickers hardness experiment were performed to investigate the mechanical properties of the $Al_2O_3$/Fe-Ni nanocomposite.
