  • A new positioning mechanism with Parallel type actuator using piezoelectric material and with dual type actuators using voice coil motor (VCM) and piezoactuator is proposed for optical disk drive or near-field recording type drive, and high speed position and vibration control are investigated. Parallel type bimorph piezoactuator is used as a fine motion actuator with self-sensing technique, which allows a piezoelectric material to concurrently sense and actuate in a closed loop frame work, and positive position feedback control algorithm is adopted to further control residual vibration. For positioning control of VCM, PID control algorithm is adopted.

  • As track density increases, the effects of nonlinearity in pivot bearing of hard disk drive on the servo performance are becoming more important in considering the range of inertia force and the input torque during settling and tracking mode. Recently, an increasing attention is given to more precise experimental observations and modelings of pivot nonlinearity for achieving higher performance of servo control. In this paper, we propose a new model that shows an improved prediction of the pivot nonlinearity than existing preload-plus-two-slope model at matching simulations and experimental results in both time and frequency domains. Experimental measurements are carried out to validate and identify the specific nonlinearity presents in the pivot bearing when its in fine motion. Using the experimental results new model along with the existing one are characterized and compared for relevancies.

폴리머 적층 시스템을 이용한 다양한 3 차원 미세 구조물 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of Various 3D Microstructures using Polymer Deposition System)

  • Solid free-form fabrication (SFF) technology was developed to fabricate three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds for tissue engineering (TE) applications. In this study, we developed a polymer deposition system (PDS) and created 3D microstructures using a bioresorbable polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer. Fabrication of 3D scaffolds by PDS requires a combination of several devices, including a heating system, dispenser, and motion controller. The system can process a polymer with extremely high precision by using a 200 ${\mu}m$ nozzle. Based on scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, both the line width and the piled line height were fine and uniform. Several 3D micro-structures, including the ANU pattern (a pattern named after Andong National University), $45^{\circ}$ pattern square, frame, cylindrical, triangular, cross-shaped, and hexagon, have been fabricated using the polymer deposition system.

  • Ultrasonic fine welding, cutting, cleaning, inspection and measurement is widely used in various fields over 20kHz. However, for High Frequency of 60kHz or more study areas is still insufficient, and the result is lacking. Therefore, this study used ultrasonic horn to the Bonding of Dissimilar Materials for effective design. Finite element analysis (FEA) is using the equations of motion to establish the model. The optimal design for the basic interpretation of vibration characteristics of the ultrasonic measures horn will examine the design.

  • Nowadays, various approaches are performed to increase the storage capacity of optical storage device. One of the promising candidates is using the high NA lens. By using high NA lens, the beam spot size can be reduced which will lead to increase the storage density. This paper proposes a double cantilever beam type bimorph PZT actuator for fine motion that can control the gap between the flexible media and optical pickup which uses high NA lens. Mathematical model is derived by using Hamilton's principle and the model is verified by finite element analysis and experiment. Position controller is designed and its performance is evaluated by experiment.

  • This paper presents a compensation method for an accelerometer to measure acceleration data accurately when a robot manipulator moves slowly. Although the accelerometer works fine under the fast movement of a robot manipulator, low cost accelerometers provide relatively inaccurate acceleration data under slow movements. In order to correct the error of the sensor data in the slow motion, correction factors are obtained experimentally. Then those corrected data are used for the disturbance observer. Experimental studies of the position control of a robot manipulator are conducted by applying the DOB (Disturbance Observer) control using corrected acceleration data.

  • The wing rock phenomenon is a high angle of attack aerodynamic motion manifested by limit cycle roll oscillations. Experimental studies reveal that direct control and manipulation of leading edge vortices, through the use of 'blowing' techniques is effective in the suppression of wing rock. This paper presents the design of a robust controller for the experimental implementation of one such 'blowing' technique - recessed angle spanwise blowing (RASB), to achieve wing rock suppression over a range of operating conditions. The robust controller employs Takagi - Sugeno fuzzy system, which is fine-tuned by experimental simulations. Performance of the controller is assessed by real-time wind tunnel experiments with an 80 degree swept back delta wing. Robustness is demonstrated by the suppression of wing rock at a range of angles of attack and free stream velocities. Numerical simulation results are used to further substantiate the experimental findings.

  • This paper reports the grid resolution issues on the supersonic mixing simulation inside the engine for future aerospace vehicles. Unstructured finite volume method is used for the simulations. Three types of grids are used, namely, hybrid unstructured grids composed of prism and tetrahedron cells, locally refined grids, and hexahedral grids. Hexahedral grids are used to take advantage of fine distribution naturally behind the edge of the ramp where the vortex is generated. These latter two grids show much improved evaluations of the vortex motion and the mixing of the injected and the main flows.

  • 본 논문은 사람의 실제 얼굴에서 캡쳐된 얼굴 모션 데이터를 새로운 얼굴에 재적용하는 리타켓팅 기법을 제안한다. 본 기법은 형태가 매우 상이한 얼굴 모델에도 적용이 가능하며 특히 주름같은 세밀한 모션의 리타켓팅에 적합하다. 본 기법은 다중해상도 메쉬 즉 노말메쉬(normal mesh)를 사용함으로써 소스와 타켓의 계층적으로 대응관계를 결정하고 계층적으로 리타켓팅한다. 노말 메쉬는 주어진 메쉬를 베이스 메쉬 (base mesh)와 일련의 노말 오프셋 (normal offsets)을 이용하여 근사시킨 계층적 메쉬이다. 본 리타켓팅 기법은 우선 베이스 모션을 소스 모델에서 타겟 모델로 리타켓팅한 후 그 모션 위에 노말 오프셋의 모션을 계층적으로 더해준다. 이 기법은 형태가 매우 세밀한 모션에 대하여 안정적이면서도 정교한 리타켓팅 결과를 생성한다.

  • The most basic form of a direct-drive linear motor is the voice coil motor(VCM). The voice coil motor employs a stationary permanent magnet field assembly in conjunction with a moving coil winding assembly to produce a force proportional to the current applied to the coil. Voice coil motor provide motion capable of extremely fine position sensitivity, limited only by the feedback sensor used to close the control loop. This paper presents dual-servo voice coil motor for improvement of driving range and position resolution. The voice coil motor is a cylindrical shape to improve reliability of a nanoindenter.
