For the severe haze situation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, conventional fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentration prediction methods based on pollutant data face problems such as incomplete data, which may lead to poor prediction performance. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of predicting the PM2.5 concentration based on image analysis technology that combines image data, which can reflect the original weather conditions, with currently popular machine learning methods. First, based on local parameter estimation, autoregressive (AR) model analysis and local estimation of the increase in image blur, we extract features from the weather images using an approach inspired by free energy and a no-reference robust metric model. Next, we compare the coefficient energy and contrast difference of each pixel in the AR model and then use the percentages to calculate the image sharpness to derive the overall mass fraction. Furthermore, the results are compared. The relationship between residual value and PM2.5 concentration is fitted by generalized Gauss distribution (GGD) model. Finally, nonlinear mapping is performed via the wavelet neural network (WNN) method to obtain the PM2.5 concentration. Experimental results obtained on real data show that the proposed method offers an improved prediction accuracy and lower root mean square error (RMSE).
This study was carried out to obtain the basic information for the shortening of emergence period of ginseng by treatment of growth regulators. Seedlings that removed and non-removed bud sac were treated at 10, 50 and 100ppm of GA$_3$, Kinetin and 2,4-D in early December, and investigated the characteristics of new bud emergence and growth vigor in 2-year-old ginseng. GA treatment showed the most desirable effects in shortening of emergence period of new bud, and elevating its emergence rate with increasing of the GA concentration. In addition, GA treatment especially accelerated the growth of stem and petiole length and early finished the growth of aerial parts of ginseng. On the other hand, root weights were mainly increased by formation of a lot fine roots in GA 50, 100ppm plots.

In this paper, we describe a simple, precise and low cost method of fabricating PDMS stamp for UV embossing. It is important to improve the replication quality of stamp because the accuracy of fabricated structure is related to that of the stamp in UV embossing. The PDMS stamp has been fabricated by the replica molding technology with ultrasonic vibration to eliminate micro-air bubbles during the fabrication process of PDMS stamp. Also, this fabrication to use ultrasonic vibration promotes PDMS solution to fill into micro channel and edge parts. We report the fabrication of an optical core using UV embossing with fabricated PDMS stamp. This fabricated core is $7\;\mu{m}\;at\;depth,\;6\;\mu{m}\;at\;width.\;This\;measured\;value\;has\;the\;difference\;below\;1\;\mu{m}$compared to the original stamp. The surface roughness of core is about 14 nm root mean square. This is satisfactory value to use low-loss optical waveguide. Our successful demonstration of precise replica technology presents an alternative approach for the stamp of UV embossing.
In the present study an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was used to predict the compressive strength of self-compacting concrete. The data developed experimentally for self-compacting concrete and the data sets of a total of 99 concrete samples were used in this work. ANN's are considered as nonlinear statistical data modeling tools where complex relationships between inputs and outputs are modeled or patterns are found. In the present ANN model, eight input parameters are used to predict the compressive strength of self-compacting of concrete. These include varying amounts of cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, fly ash, fiber, water, super plasticizer (SP), viscosity modifying admixture (VMA) while the single output parameter is the compressive strength of concrete. The importance of different input parameters for predicting the strengths at various ages using neural network was discussed in the study. There is a perfect correlation between the experimental and prediction of the compressive strength of SCC based on ANN with very low root mean square errors. Also, the efficiency of ANN model is better compared to the multivariable regression analysis (MRA). Hence it can be concluded that the ANN model has more potential compared to MRA model in developing an optimum mix proportion for predicting the compressive strength of concrete without much loss of material and time.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase constitute the first coordinated unit of defense against reactive oxygen species. Here, we examined the effect of ginseng saponins on the induction of SOD and catalase gene expression. To explore this possibility, the upstream regulatory promoter region of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SODI) and catalase genes were linked to the chloramphenicol acetyl-transferase (CATI structural gene and introduced into human hepatoma HepG2 cells. Total saponin and panaxatriol did not activate the transcription of SODI and catalase genes but panaxadiol increased the transcription of these genes about 2-3 fold. Among the Panaxadiol ginsenosides, the Rb2 subtraction appeared to is a major induce of SODI and catalase genes. Using the deletion analyses and mobility shift assays, we showed that the 5051 gene was greatly activated by ginsenoside Rba through transcription factor AP2 binding sites and its induction. We also examined the effect of the content ratio of panaxadiol extracted from various compartment of ginseng on the transcription of 5031 gene. Saponin extract that contains 2.6-fold more PD than PT from the fine root Increased the SODI induction about 3-fold. These results suggest that the panaxadiol fraction and its ginsenosides could induce the antioxidant enzymes, which are important for maintaining cell viability by lowering level of oxygen radical generated from intracellular metabolism.

In this work we report methods of formation of three-dimensional structures of particles in a liquid crystal host. We found that, under the appropriate conditions, the particles are captured and dragged by the moving isotropic/nematic front during the phase transition process. This movement of the particles can be enhanced significantly or suppressed drastically with the influence of an electric field and/or with changing the conditions of the phase transition, such as the rate of cooling. As a result, a wide variety of particle structures can be obtained ranging from a fine-grained cellular structure to stripes of varying periods to a course-grained "root" structures. Changing the properties of the materials, such as the size and density of the particles and the surface anchoring of the liquid crystal at the particle surface, can also be used to control the morphology of the three-dimensional particle network and adjust the physical properties of the resulting dispersions. These particle structures may be used to affect the performance of LCD's much as polymers have been used in the past.
This paper proposes an efficient data-driven approach to build models for predicting energy consumption in buildings. Data used in this research is collected by installing humidity and temperature sensors at different locations in a building. In addition to this, weather data from nearby weather station is also included in the dataset to study the impact of weather conditions on energy consumption. One of the main emphasize of this research is to make feature selection independent of domain knowledge. Therefore, to extract useful features from data, two different approaches are tested: one is feature selection through principal component analysis and second is relative importance-based feature selection in original domain. The regression model used in this research is gradient boosting regression and its optimal parameters are chosen through a two staged coarse-fine search approach. In order to evaluate the performance of model, different performance evaluation metrics like r2-score and root mean squared error are used. Results have shown that best performance is achieved, when relative importance-based feature selection is used with gradient boosting regressor. Results of proposed technique has also outperformed the results of support vector machines and neural network-based approaches tested on the same dataset.
This study was carried out to select economical byproduct composts as the substitute for the traditional organic fertilizer, Yacto, in the cultivation of ginseng seedlings, and to investigate the application method of a selected compost. Among tested byproduct composts, popped rice hull compost was the best substitute for Yacto, while the application of domestic animal manure composts resulted in red skinned roots of ginseng seedlings. Optimal mixing ratio of the popped rice hull compost with virgin soil (fine sand) were 3~4 : 1 in bulk, showing the same root yield compared to that of conventional seedbed soil. When the popped rice hull compost was lower than $1\;{\pm}\;0.1%$ in nitrogen content, the expeller cake of oil seed was added to seedbed soil to rise nitrogen content until $1\;{\pm}\;0.1%$.

The seed paper was used in farm field recently for a sound young plant. The most of seed paper are made of synthetic non-woven sheet. Therefore, it is very difficult to bio-degrade in soil and is very hard to have some special function, for example keeping herbicide and/or insecticide activity because of its lack of chemical acceptability. The purpose of this research is manufacture of seedling paper which have a function of herbicide activity from waste paper. The fiber properties from waste paper were remarkably improved by fine removal with washing and/or flotation process. The paper-making ability for seed paper was enhanced with enzyme treatment of secondary fibers. The paper for seedling must have a good bio-degradation ability in soils. The absorption amount of chemical like as dithiopyr was increased remarkably in enzyme treated base paper. The embossing treatment of base paper was very effective for seed attachment and chemicals retention. And also, the developed seed paper showed a good penetration property of young root through embossed paper.
Soil samples were collected from new-developed wetland soil ecosystem of Tamarix chinesis plantation in Chinese Yellow River Delta in different months of 2003. Soil characteristics, temporal change and spatial distribution of microbial community composition and their relationship with nitrogen turnover and circling were investigated in order to analyze and characterize the role of microbial diversity and functioning in the specific soil ecosystem. The result showed that the total population of microbial community in the studied soil was considerably low, compared with common natural ecosystem. The amount of microorganism followed as the order: bacteria> actinomycetes>fungi. Amount of actinomycetes were higher by far than that of fungi. Microbial population remarkably varied in different months. Microbial population of three species in top horizon was corrected to that in deep horizon. Obvious rhizosphere effect was observed and microbial population was significantly higher in rhizosphere than other soils due to vegetation growth, root exudation, and cumulative dead fine roots. Our results demonstrate that microbial diversity is low, while is dominated by specific community in the wetland ecosystem of Tamarix chinesi.
