Textile Reinforced Cementitious Composite (TRCC) became the most common construction material lately and have excellent properties. TRCC can be employed in the manufacture of thin-walled facade elements, load-bearing integrated formwork, tunnel linings or in the strengthening of existing structures. These composite materials are a combination of matrix and textile materials. There isn't much research done about the usage of polymer modified matrices in textile reinforced cementitious composites. In this study, matrix materials named as fine grained concretes ($d_{max}{\leq}1.0mm$) were investigated. Air entraining effect of polymer modifiers were analyzed and air void content of fine grained concretes were identified with different methods. Aim of this research is to study the effect of polymer modification on the air content of fine grained concretes and the role of defoamer in controlling it. Polymer modifiers caused excessive air entrainment in all mixtures and defoamer material successfully lowered down the air content in all mixtures. Latex polymer modified mixtures had higher air content than redispersible powder modified ones. Air void analysis test was performed on selected mixtures. Air void parameters were compared with the values taken from air content meter. Close results were obtained with tests and air void analysis test found to be useful and applicable to fine grained concretes. Air void content in polymer modified matrix material used in TRCC found significant because of affecting mechanical and permeability parameters directly.

Vibration triaxial compression test was put in influence for liquefaction strength of fine grained soil of dredged and reclaimed ground and consideration for fine fraction content, relative density, overconsolidation ratio and plasticity index in this study. By the results of these test, the liquefaction strength increased with fine fraction content and the relative density, overconsolidation ratio incresed with liquefaction strength too. However, in the case of nonplastic silt was the smalist liquefaction strength which influenced by dilatancy and interlocking when silt content was 34.7%(average grading 0.12mm). Therefore, liquefaction strength of fine grained soil of dredged and reclaimed ground increased with fine fraction content so it will help to make lower liquefaction.
The effect of base metal grain size on isothermal solidification behavior of Ni-base superalloy, CMSX-2 during transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding was investigated employing MBF-80 insert metal. TLP-bonding of single crystal. coarse-grained and fine-grained CMSX-2 was carried out at 1373∼1548k for various holding time in vacuum. The eutectic width diminished linearly with the square root of holding time during isothermal solidification process for single crystal, coarse-grained and fine-grained base metals. The completion time for isothermal solidification decreased in the order ; single crystal, coarse-grained and fine-grained base metals. The difference of isothermal solidification rates produced when bonding the different base metals could be explained quantitatively by the effect of base metal grain boundaries on the apparent average diffusion coefficient of boron in CMSX-2.

Ultra-fine grains were produced in pure Al using an Accumulative Rolling-Bonding (ARB) process. After several cycles of the ARB process, pure Al sheets were filled with the ultra-fine grains whose diameters were several hundred nano-meters. With ARB cycles, the nature of grain boundaries of the ultra-fine grains changed from diffusive sub-boundaries to well-defined high angle boundaries. After 7 cycles, ultra-fine polycrystals with large misorientations between neighboring grains were obtained. Sliding wear tests using a pin-on-disk type wear tester were co ducted on the ultra-fine grained pure Al. Wear rates of pure Al increased with the increase of ARB cycle numbers in spite of the increase in hardness. Worn surfaces and cross-sections were examined with optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) In investigate the wear mechanism of the ultra-fine grained pure Al.

A new innovative composite material is textile reinforced cementitious composite (TRCC). To achieve high flexural performance researchers suggest polymer modification of TRCC matrices. In this study, nine ready mix repair mortars commonly used in construction industry and the production of TRCC elements were examined. Mechanical properties such as compressive and flexural strength, drying shrinkage were studied. Being a significant durability concern, alkali silica reaction tests were performed according to related standards. Results showed that, some ready repair mortar mixes are potentially reactive due to the alkali silica reaction. Two of the ready mortar mixes labelled as non-shrinkage in their technical data sheets showed the highest shrinkage. In this experiment, researchers designed new matrices. These matrices were fine grained concretes modified with polymer additives; latexes and redispersible powders. Two latexes and six redispersible powder polymers were used in the study. Mechanical properties of fine grained concretes such as compressive and flexural strengths were determined. Results showed that some of the fine grained concretes cast with redispersible powders had higher flexural strength than ready mix repair mortars at 28 days. Matrix composition has to be designed for a suitable consistency for planned production processes of TRCC and mechanical properties for load-carrying capacity.

In the case of the Pohang earthquake, which had a magnitude of 5.4 in 2017, geotechnical damages such as liquefaction and ground settlement occurred. The need for countermeasures has emerged, and experimental research in the Pohang area has continued. This study collected undisturbed samples from damaged fine-grained soil areas where ground settlement occurred in Pohang. Cyclic tri-axial tests for identifying the dynamic characteristics of soils were performed on the undisturbed samples, and the results were analyzed to determine the cause of ground settlement. As a result of the study, it was determined that in the case of fine-grained soils, ground settlement occurred because the seismic load as an external force was relatively more significant than the shear resistance of the very soft fine-grained soils, rather than due to an increase in excess pore water pressure.

A goal of this paper is doing fine grained recognition of breed of animal from pet images. Research about fine grained recognition from images is continuously developing, but it is not for animal object recognition because they have polymorphism. This paper proposes method of higher animal object recognition using Grab-cut algorithm for object segmentation and Fisher Vector for image encoding.

A new apparatus called the EFA (Erosion Function Apparatus) has been built and tested to measure the erodibility of fine-grained soils. The EFA is a simple test to predict the erosion rate of fine-grained soils along with the corresponding velocity and shear stress. In addition, it is advantageous in predicting the scour rate for actual soil samples from bridge sites. The plot of erosion rate versus shear stress is the result of an EFA test. It Indicates the critical shear stress at which erosion starts and the rate of erosion beyond that shear stress. In order to measure the erodibilities of various soils, 14 Shelby Tube soil samples are collected from the actual bridge sites and tested using the EFA. The results of the EFA tests which are the relationships between erosion rates and shear stresses are presented in this paper and research continues to develop the correlation between the erosion function and the soil properties.
A large amount of dredged soils occur in the marine purification project but dredged fine-grained soils have been abandoned as a waste. The standards as filling materials, banking materials, revetment blocks and concrete blocks were surveyed. Through the geotechnical tests of marine dredged fine-grained soils and the alkali-activation reaction, the usability as banking materials, revetment blocks and concrete blocks were analyzed. Dredged sands could be used as banking materials, and dredged fine-grained soils could be used as filling materials. A mixture of dredged fine-grained soils and dredged sands could be used as banking materials. Materials produced by the alkali-activation reaction could be used as a revetment block and a concrete block.

It is a recent worldwide trend that erosion characteristics of soil, the resistance factor against scour, are quantified and considered in the estimation of scour depths in fine-grained soils. As part of the efforts, local erosion characteristics on fine-grained soils of the West Coast area are analyzed through scour rate experiments, where a lot of sea-crossing long-span bridges are planned and being constructed in recent years. Four sites including Incheon Bridge, Choji Bridge, Hwankyung Bridge, and Janghang area are finally selected for this study and the scour rate tests are performed using 34 undisturbed soil samples from the sites. The critical shear stresses which represent erodibility of the soil tend to be proportional to the undrained shear strength values. The relative ability of cohesive fine-grained soils to resist erosion is assumed to be higher than that of noncohesive soils. Quantified local erosion characteristics of fine-grained soils in the West Coast area are presented in forms of charts showing relationships between scour rates and shear stresses, and suggested as basic data for the estimation of scour depths and design of bridge foundations in the West Coast area.
