  • The aim of this dissertation is inferring factors controlling the complex strain behavior of the material and the characteristics of the Fine-Blanking in the most narrow area at the shear zone where we are performing the Fine-Blanking. And also this is for inspecting and presenting their uses and the possibilities to make the results data based in order to utilize easily. Therefore, to analyze of shere zone's strain behaviour, the Fine-Blanking process need to be modelled defining the quadratic-nodded and axi-symmetrical elements as the problems of large deformation axi-symmetry and the non-linear contact. For the method of inputting strain-stress values of the material, the piece-wise linear technics were used, the Implicit-Finite Element method also used making balance of forces on each step by the long intervals, calculates and converges many times was done. The materials used for the analysis was the Steel SNCM220 5.5mm respectively. As the result of FEM analysis, we know that shear stress value in the beginning of punch penetration is distributed widely and done high both in the center of the late-thickness and on the both sides centering around shear strain zone as the punch penetration is increasing. • Metal sheet forming has been commonly used as the core technology in manufacturing parts of automobiles. It guarantees the highest production rate due to the process of mass production employing the press die. For precision of the product, the accuracy of the molds and its mechanic structures are considered as essential factors. One of these is fine blanking, which is utilized for the production of the metal sheet spring, with which clear sheer surfaces can be achieved in one operation from the materials. However, the current designs of press dies perform the forming analysis with the molds of rigid body, so they are focused on weight lightening by a rule of thumb. Therefore, this paper practice structural analysis about developing the semi fine-fine blanking technology. The semi fine-blanking can be run through the combination of the hydraulic cylinders and normal presses, so this paper analyze the amount of deformation according to the oil pressure. In addition, based on the plasticity of 50CrV4, the materials of the mold parts, the structural analysis and life analysis are proceeded, so they are expected to be useful as data for manufacturing the mold.

  • Fine blanking can be considered as a manufacturing process capable of producing sheet metal parts with completely smooth edges that may be hardly obtained by conventional shear-cutting procedures. This fact, together with the considerable economic advantages offered by this process, has been responsible for the rapid acceptance of fine blanking throughout the manufacturing industry all over the world, and the discovery of many new applications. This study was performed to investigate the effect of clearance and V-ring shape on the quality of sheared surface in a fine blanking process. The critical value needed to apply the normalized Cockcroft-Latham fracture criterion to the simulation of fine blanking is obtained by correlating the result of finite element analysis and that of experiment for the uniaxial tensile test. From finite element analysis of an axisymmetric fine blanking process, it has been found that punch load, die-roll depth, burnish zone size and shape of sheared surface are considerably influenced by clearance and V-ring shape.

  • This study was performed the blankholding force and vee-ring effects on Blanking characteristics, such as maximum blanking force, burnish, dish-shape, hardness. etc, in fine-blanking die by the experimental method. Two types of aluminum (Al. 1050-0, Al 5052-H) Such as annealed and unannealed materials were used for the experiment. In order to get a hydrostatic pressure effect, the clearance was set to 0.5% of the thickness of strip, and the counter punch and stripper plate with Vee-ring was set-up. While this experiment was carrying out, the average blanking Velocity was constant (37.5mm/sec) As a result of this study, we got a good surface roughness and a glassy shear plane(burnish) of the sheet over 90% thickness, and such as the excellent accuracy of dimensions, the good squareness and the reduction of dish-shape could be obtained, and also the additional results obtained were such that the hardness of shear plane was increased and the maximum blanking force was reduced in the condition of Vee-ring height of 1.0~1.5mm, and blankholding force of 1200kg.

  • This study is performed for investigating the effects of shearing characteristics in fine blanking, such as camber, burr-height and dimensional accuracy, etc by experiments. Conventional hydraulic press equipped with specially designed hydraulic unit is used for experiments. Cold rolled steel sheet(3.0mm) materials which got properties, 2212.39kgf of maximum, $29.490kgf/mm^2$ of stress and 41.33% of strain were used. it can be concluded that the center distance of vee indenter ring can be obtained 2.0mm in SPCC 3.0t.

  • This study is performed for investigating the effects of stripping and counter punching forces on shearing characteristics in fine blanking of T-shaped products, such as camber, burr-height and dimensional accuracy, etc by experiments. Conventional hydraulic press is used for experiments so that both the stripping force and counter punching force can be arbitrarily adjusted by another hydraulic unit connected to the fine blanking die. Specimens are selected as hot rolled steel sheet and carbon steel sheet commonly used in auto- mobile company. Based on the experimental results, both the dimensional accuracy and the burr height are not influenced by the stripping and counter punching forces, wherease the camber height representing dish- shaped deflection is much influenced by them, it can be seen through this study that the finely cut surface of T-shaped blank can be obtained even in conventional hydraulic press if additional equipments and specially designed die are employed.

  • Minimizing the height of the die roll is very important for maximizing the size of effective shear planes. In this study, the die roll change was investigated for the change in the amounts and clearance of the V-ring indentation. Shear analysis and experiments were conducted with the V-ring distance fixed to 2mm. Fine blanking die was applied to the die insert with different clearances. Several specimens were analyzed about the height of the die roll. As a result, the pressure of V-ring effectively inhibited the flow of materials. And the height of the die roll was lowest when the clearance between the die and punch was 1% of the material thickness.

  • This study improves the formability in fine-blanking the lock plate of car seat belts using a low carbon steel(SM35C) plate. The optimal die design for the forming process is proposed using rules for process planning based on theories and field experiences. The optimal design is analyzed using commercial finite element software in order to solve the fracture problems in the extrusion process. Through the improved layout based on the FEM results, the fracture of the extruded part and the roll over problem are solved. Furthermore, it is demonstrated through the shown from experiments that the extruded part does not break in the modified die.

  • In this work, a method is described to investigate the progressive and compound process in the coining and piercing operation for given conditions and parameters, using the FEM simulation and model experiment. The effect of the die shape on the compound process is established, and the die shape depends on the position of coining die and the width of the part coined. It is found that Progressive process is better than compound process, since material's filling into the die is not completed and the higher stress acts on the edge of the punch according to width being increased.

  • In the automotive seat industry, the use of a fine blanking press is important for manufacturing of high precision products. Among them, a gear part which is a main component of an automotive seat recliner is generally manufactured by fine blanking press. However, the use of conventional mechanical press has been increasing in manufacture of gear part because of low productivity of fine blanking press. In this study, new forming process is suggested to fabricate the gear part with high precision by using mechanical press. The effect of flow restriction die (FRD) which has the restriction of blank edge on dimensional accuracy is investigated by FE-analysis. FE-analysis results for different conditions of FRD indicated that FRD has high dimensional accuracy with the lowest roll-over and the highest perpendicularity of gear part. After application to fabrication of the gear part using mechanical press, the measured dimensional characteristic was compared with the required specification of final product. In addition, results of the performance test showed that the product fabricated by developed process satisfied the required strength and durability. The results show that the suggested forming process by using FRD and mechanical press can replace fine blanking on the viewpoint of dimensional accuracy and productivity.
