Search-based Sentiment and Stock Market Reactions: An Empirical Evidence in Vietnam

  • The paper aims to examine relationships between search-based sentiment and stock market reactions in Vietnam. This study constructs an internet search-based measure of sentiment and examines its relationship with Vietnamese stock market returns. The sentiment index is derived from Google Trends' Search Volume Index of financial and economic terms that Vietnamese searched from January 2011 to June 2018. Consistent with prediction from sentiment theories, the study documents significant short-term reversals across three major stock indices. The difference from previous literature is that Vietnam stock market absorbs the contemporaneous decline slower while the subsequent rebound happens within a day. The results of the study suggest that the sentiment-induced effect is mainly driven by pessimism. On the other hand, optimistic investors seem to delay in taking their investment action until the market corrects. The study proposes a unified explanation for our findings based on the overreaction hypothesis of the bearish group and the strategic delay of the optimistic group. The findings of the study contribute to the behavioral finance strand that studies the role of sentiment in emerging financial markets, where noise traders and limits to arbitrage are more obvious. They also encourage the continuous application of search data to explore other investor behaviors in securities markets.

금융 챗봇 서비스의 사용 의도에 대한 질적 탐색 (A Qualitative Exploration of Intentions of Financial Chatbot Service)

  • 최근 금융사는 영업점 축소와 비대면 서비스의 확대 추세와 맞물려 챗봇 서비스의 활성화를 추진하고 있다. 그러나 기술적 한계와 이를 둘러싼 내·외부 환경의 제약이 존재하는 상황에서 일시에 챗봇 서비스를 확대하기는 어렵다. 따라서 챗봇 서비스의 제반 상황을 분석하여 단계별로 발생 가능한 문제를 선제적으로 확인하고 해결방안을 모색할 필요가 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 금융 챗봇 서비스 사용자의 사용 의도 및 행동을 고찰하기 위해 현장 실무자 및 연구자 12명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 진행하고, 이를 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behaviors, 이하 TPB)으로 해석하였다. 연구 결과, 사용자들은 챗봇 사용 경험을 통해 갖게 된 편리함이나 불편함 등의 '감정 및 태도', 군중 심리나 타인의 공감을 갈망하는 심리 등의 '주관적 규범', 챗봇 사용 과정의 어려움이나 편리함에 대한 인식에 따른 '행동 통제' 등의 특성이 드러났다. 이를 통해 이 특성이 사용자의 챗봇 서비스에 대한 지속적 사용 의도와 실제 행동에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 후속연구에서는 실제 사용자를 대상으로 하여 구체적인 사용 의도와 영향 요인을 실증적으로 연구해 볼 필요가 있다.

공급체인 리더의 관계적 행동이 리더의 리더십과 팔로워의 재무성과에 미치는 영향: 리더 윤리성의 역할 (The Effects of Relational Behaviors on Supply Chain Leadership and Financial Performance: The Role of Leader Ethicality)

  • 기존의 리더십과 관련된 연구들은 대부분 조직 내부의 부하와 상사간 관계에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 이는 조직간 거래관계가 기업의 주요한 성패요인이 된 현시점에서 조직 간 리더십에 대한 연구의 필요성을 제기하는 현상이라 할 수 있다. 특히, 조직 간 거래관계가 분석의 초점인 공급체인 연구에서는 이러한 조직 간 리더십에 대한 연구가 더욱 필요하다 할 수 있다. 따라서 공급체인의 조직간 리더십을 연구하는 것은 매우 중요하다 할 수 있다. 하지만 기존 공급체인 리더십 관련 연구들은 두가지 중요한 문제점을 가지고 있다. 첫째, 대부분의 연구들이 공급체인 리더십과 성과 간의 관계에 초점을 맞추고 있다는 점이고, 둘째, 기존 공급체인 내 조직간 리더십 연구들은 리더십과 재무성과 간 관계를 거의 다루지 않았다는 점이다. 이에 본 연구는 공급체인 리더십의 선행변수를 발견하고, 리더십-성과 간 관계에 영향을 미칠 가능성이 있는 조절변수를 실증하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서 관심이 있는 공급체인 리더십의 선행변수는 최근 그 중요성이 강조되고 있는 관계적 행동 변수를, 리더십-성과 간 관계의 조절변수로는 리더의 윤리성을 검정하였다. 국내 5대 편의점에 상품을 공급하는 공급업체 납품담당자 217명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, PLS(Partial Least Square) 분석방법을 통해 분석한 결과 대형 유통업체의 관계적 행동 중 교육훈련, 공정한 보상, 조직간 의사소통은 공급체인 리더십을 강화하였고, 공급체인 리더십은 공급업체의 재무성과를 강화하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 대형 유통업체의 윤리성이 높은 경우 공급체인 리더십이 공급업체 재무성과를 더 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 대형 유통업체의 관계적 행동 중 비전제시는 공급체인 리더십에 영향을 미치지 않았다.

The Impact of Mobile Technology Paradox Perception and Personal Risk-Taking Behaviors on Mobile Technology Adoption

  • People acknowledge that mobile technology has improved their lives in terms of convenience, flexibility, connectedness, and new freedom of choice. However, as people increase usage of technology, they may become frustrated, challenged, annoyed, and irritated with it. This is the main characteristic of mobile technology paradoxes. Once technology gets into people's daily life, which it already has, people will look for a way to minimize the dependency on the technology, as well as finding a way to use the technology to improve the quality of their life. The focus of this study is to understand the mobile technology paradoxes and to develop coping strategies. As mobile technology is already a part of people's daily life, it is inevitable that people need to utilize technology as part of their lifestyles. This study developed a research model regarding the relationship between mobile technology perception and choice of coping strategies, including personal risk propensity as a mediating factor. Discussion on the importance of the technology paradoxes for developing mobile solution and services from the customers' perspectives followed after hypotheses testing.

창의적 성과를 제고하는 조직 양면성 구현양식에 대한 연구 (Working Mechanisms of Organizational Ambidexterity for Creative Performance)

  • The organizational ambidexterity has been emerging as the way to gain competitive advantage in turbulent environment. The concept of ambidexterity is simultaneously accomplishing the balance between the activities of exploration and exploitation, and overcoming their conflicting tension. The beneficial merits of ambidexterity has been investigated in innovation, financial performance, strategic management, and etc. Our study focused on the impact of ambidextrous activities on creative performance. Although three ambidextrous modes-structural ambidexterity, contextual ambidexterity, and sequential ambidexterity-have been already acknowledged, scant studies suggested the specific mechanisms to achieve ambidexterity in practice at the operating level. To address the issue we performed the semantic network analysis on the basis of the previous literatures prescribing ambidexterity theory. We took interview with 21 teams to explore behaviors of teams from the ambidextrous perspective, and then interpreted the relationship among words which appeared in the interview. This study found the appropriate mechanism which alleviate tension revealed by exploitation and exploration exist as practical reality. We demonstrated how these ambidextrous mechanisms can be used to generate the creative performance as well as examined various antecedents. These findings would contribute to the more fine-grained understanding of organizational ambidexterity, especially in conjunction with organizational creativity.

핀테크(FinTech) 서비스의 정보보안 위협요인과 개인정보보호행위와의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구: 기술위협회피와 건강행동이론 관점에서 (The Structural Relationships among Information Security Threat Factors and Information Protection Behavior of the FinTech Services: Focus on Theoretical Perspectives of Technology Threat Avoidance and Health Protective Behaviors)

  • Purpose Financial technology, also known as FinTech, is conceptually defined as a new type of financial service which is combined with information technology and other traditional financial services like payments, investments, financing, insurance, asset management and so on. Most of the studies on FinTech services have been conducted from the viewpoint of technical issues or legal and institutional studies, and few studies are conducted from the health belief perspectives and security behavior approaches. In this regard, this study suggest an extended information protection behavior model. Design/Methodology/Approach The Health Belief Model (HBM), the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), and the Technology Threat Avoidance Theory (TTAT) were employed to identify constructs relevant to information protection behavior of FinTech services. A new extended information protection behavior model in which the influence factors of information protection behavior (i.e., perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, subjective norms) affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, leading to information protection behavior of FinTech users eventually. This study developed an extended information protection behavior model to explain the protection behavior intention in FinTech users and collected 272 survey responses from the mobile users who had experiences with such mobile payments and FinTech services. Findings The finding of this study suggests that the influence factors of information protection behavior affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, and information protection behavior of FinTech users as well.

Exploring Critical Risk Factors of Office Building Projects

  • Risks and uncertainty are unavoidable problems in management of projects. Therefore, project managers should not only prevent risks, but also have to respond and manage them. Risk management has become a critical interest subject in the construction industry for both practitioners and researchers. This paper presents critical risk factors of office building projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey based on the likelihood and consequence level of risk factors. These factors fell into five groups: (i) financial risk factors; (ii) management risk factors; (iii) schedule risk factors; (iv) construction risk factors; and (v) environment risk factors. The research results showed that critical factors affecting office building projects are natural (i.e., prolonged rain, storms, climate effects) and human-made issues (i.e., soil instability, safety behaviors, owner's design change) and the schedule-related risk factors contributed to the most significant risks for office buildings projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City. They give construction management and project management practitioners a new perspective on risks and risk management of office buildings projects in Ho Chi Minh City and are proactive in the awareness, response, and management of risk factors comprehensively.

관계마케팅활동이 고객자산동인과 고객행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Relationship Marketing Activities on Customer Equity Drivers and Customer Behaviors)

  • 기업의 가장 중요한 자산은 고객임을 인지한 기업들은 제품중심의 브랜드자산관리에서 고객중심으로 그들의 노력과 관심을 집중하였고 좀 더 효과적인 관리방법을 강구하게 되었는데 그것이 고객자산관리이고 관계마케팅을 통해 이를 실현하고있다. 그러나 기존연구가 고객을 지향하고 있지만 실제적인 연구의 중심은 브랜드자산을 토대로 하고 관계의 매개변수도 관계질에 한정되어 있다. 그 결과 만족하더라도 재구매를 하지 않는 즉, 관계매개변수가 기업의 수익성을 잘 설명해주지 못하는 결과가 나타나고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 고객자산 동인을 매개변수로 제시하고자 한다. 또한 관계마케팅활동을 세 가지로 구분하여 관계마케팅활동과 고객 행동 간의 상대적인 영향을 검증하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기업의 관계마케팅활동과 고객자산의 관계에 있어 고객자산 동인으로 가치자산, 브랜드자산, 관계자산이 있고 각각의 매개역할은 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 재무적 활동, 사회적 활동, 구조적 활동은 각각의 매개변수를 통해 재구매의도, 구전 의도, 교차구매 의도에 모두 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 고객자산의 중요성이 증가함에도 불구하고 관련 연구가 많이 이루어지지 않았고 따라서 연구자가 각기 다른 정의를 제시하다 보니 개념적 정의에 있어서도 많은 혼동이 야기되었다. 이에 본 연구는 고객자산에 관한 연구의 부족한 실정에서 관련 연구들을 체계적으로 정리하고 분류하고자 노력하였는데 이는 향후 관련 연구들에 있어 이론적 기초를 제공할 수 있으리라 본다.

시설 청소년의 대인관계 특성에 대한 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Institutionalized Adolescents′Interpersonal Relationships)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate institutionalized adolescents'perception of meaningful persons and to analyze the features of their interpersonal relationships. 9 middle school students of 3 child welfare facilities were observed and participated in depth-interviews. Results indicate that there is a difference in adolescents'family image according to their experience before institutionalization. They want care-givers of institution to offer more emotional support to them. And they perceive much social support from other adolescents who're living with them. But, the findings suggest that their peer relationships have some limitations because of institutionalization itself and various restriction on their behaviors. Lastly, they want more intimate relationship with supporters in addition to financial sponsorship. In conclusion, institutionalized adolescents'interpersonal relationships are related closely to the environmental properties. Therefore, concerns should be directed toward improving the quality of social and psychological environment of institutions. And various programs should be provided to support institutionalized adolescents'social development.

창조적 리더십의 질적인 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Qualitative Analysis of Creative Leadership)

  • Public and private sectors are experiencing a worldwide economic depression originated from the failure of U.S. financial system. At a harsh time like this, policy-makers need to understand more about the effects of the creative leadership in the digital era. However, there haven't been enough studies performed on this field in Korea. This study aims to fill the blank and learn more about the correlation between creative leadership and organizational effectiveness. To achieve this goal, various previous leadership studies have been reviewed in terms of organizational behaviors, comparative culture studies, and etc. In the end, this study argues previous qualitative studies' weaknesses and limitations, and tries to suggest new aspect of qualitative research method of creative leadership.
