  • This paper introduces the public-oriented e-Hub construction for strategic alliances in the community.   • This paper introduces the public-oriented e-Hub construction for strategic alliances in the B2B virtual community. The public-oriented e-Hub can link with all participating Internet firms on the basis of their business models, and consequently help them share their core competence, management resources, and so on. Based upon this perspective, this paper presents the procedures corresponding with social network analysis for strategic alliances of small and medium internet firms. In addition, this paper tries to analyze the relationships among degree of competition, potential of strategic alliance, and financial performance. The results show that the firms with more easily accepting various strategic alliances make higher financial performance under more competitive environment. This suggests that strategic alliances through the public-oriented e-Hub in the B2B virtual community provide the internet firms with various opportunities.

  • 정부의 금융중심지 조성과 발전에 관한 법률에 따라 부산문현혁신지구에 새롭게 조성될 금융중심지는 기존 금융중심지와 차별화되어 해양특성을 반영한 금융집적지로서 비즈니스 중심지와 연계될 때 국제적 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있다. 본 연구는 금융중심지 개념, 유형 성립여건, 경쟁력 및 해외 사례고찰의 시사점을 통해 개발여건과 관련계획을 분석하여 부산국제금융센터의 국제적 경쟁력은 시민공원 및 북항재개발지구가 연계된 해양특성화에 있음을 제시하고, 관련된 육성 프로그램의 보완방향, 물리적 개발방향, 전략 및 지침을 포함한 개발방안을 제시한다.

한국 중소기업의 uTradeHub 활용 및 성과 결정요인에 관한 실증적 연구 (An Empirical Study on the Determinants of Usage and Performance of the uTradeHub in Korean SMEs)

  • 본 연구는 uTradeHub시스템의 정식운영이 개시된 후 일정한 기간이 경과한 시점에서 uTradeHub시스템 활용실태를 분석하고, 다수의 표본기업들을 선정하여 이들에 대한 설문조사를 통해 우리나라 중소기업들이 uTradeHub시스템을 활용하는데 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 파악하고자 한다. 이러한 활용요인과 uTradeHub시스템의 활용수준 및 성과의 인과관계를 검증함으로써 중소기업의 특성에 맞는 글로벌 전자무역의 활용전략과 이를 발전시키기 위한 협력 방안을 제시하는 것이 본 연구의 궁극적인 목적이다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해서 uTradeHub시스템을 이용하고 있는 회원 중소기업들을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 실증분석을 한 결과 uTradeHub시스템의 활용 요인 중 기업외부요인으로는 산업내 경쟁강도와 거래강도, 기업내부요인으로는 최고경영자의 지원, 정보화 요인으로는 기업의 IT인프라와 정보화 훈련정도 등이 uTradeHub의 활용에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 uTradeHub시스템의 활용도는 전자무역의 재무적 성과와 비재무적 성과에 유의한 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

한국의 동북아 물류중심로드맵 투자우선순위와 개선방안 (Investment Priority and ImProvements in the Northeast Asia Logostics Hub Road Map)

  • Northeast Asia logistics hub strategy was undertaken by Korean Government to gain a national competitive advantage in Northeast Asia. Current Government has Northeast Asian Economic Hub Strategy including construction of SOC in Northeast Asia for promoting peace, promotion of formation of Northeast Asia Community, logistics hub, Financial hub and national innovation for R&D Cluster. To realize Northeast Asian logistics hub, the Northeast Asia logistics hub road map has undertaken as follows: expansion of logistics infra in Incheon Airport, Busan Port and Gwangyang Port, systematic improvements such as adjustment of investment distribution, special logistics companies, transparent customs in logistics transactions, logistics manpower, improvement of system supporting global logistics and attraction of international logistics companies to the logistics center, construction of seamless and paperless logistics information network, Northeast Asia railway infra. The purpose of this paper is to study investment priority and improvements in the Northeast Asia Logistics Hub Road Map and to contribute to gain the national competitive advantage as logistics hub in Northeast Asia

동북아허브 발전전략에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Development Strategy for the Hub of Northeast Asia)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the development strategy for the Hub of Northeast Asia. Those countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China competing us are trying to concentrate on their core capacity. Based on the severe competition surrounding us, we are confronting with a transitional period to upgrade competitiveness. It is acknowledged that the building of economic hub of Northeast Asia is essential to become an advanced country. Therefore, it is becoming an urgent task that Korean government should formulate the development strategy of building efficient transportation network, economic special zone and financial hub.

Northeast Asian Energy Corridor Initiative for Regional Collaboration

  • For historical and political reasons, South Korea (hereafter Korea), Japan and China have not achieved much progress in regional energy cooperation for decades. However, the rising importance of Northeast Asia (NEA) in the world energy sphere, especially in the global oil market, is providing an opportunity to create an integrated oil market in the region. This study suggests the Northeast Asian Energy Corridor (NEAEC) Initiative as an effective conduit for raising the possibility of the Northeast Asian oil hub project. The NEAEC Initiative combines the model of Europe's Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) with Singapore's AsiaClear as a form of financial collaboration. The study suggests that an electronically integrated Over-the-Counter (OTC) market clearing mechanism accompanied by other key financial instruments among Korea, Japan and China can be an effective means for promoting financial collaboration in the region.

부산 금융중심지의 선박금융특화를 위한 정책 선호도 분석 (A Study on Policy Preference to Specialize in Ship Finance for Busan's Financial Hub Function)

  • 한국은 세계 제 1위의 조선산업 국가이면서도 국내 선박금융의 공급은 한계를 보여 왔다. 이 때문에 선박금융 확대 요구가 증대되었으며, 이에 대처하기 위해 정치권을 중심으로 선박금융지원정책에 대한 논의가 활발히 진행되어 왔다. 한편 부산시는 정부로부터 지정받은 금융중심지의 특화금융 분야 중 하나로 선박금융을 꼽고, 선박금융활성화에 많은 관심과 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 점을 감안하여 선박금융지원정책에 대한 부산시의 선호도를 조사함에 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)방식이 활용되었고, 인터뷰와 설문조사에는 부산시의 해운정책담당 공무원, 금융기관 종사자, 경제연구소 직원 등이 참여하였다. 정책대안으로는 (1) 선박금융공사 설립 (2) 해운보증기금 설치 (3) Tonnage Bank 설립 (4) 기존 국책금융기관의 선박금융업무 통폐합 (5) 기존 기관의 관련부서 부산으로의 이전 등이 제시되었다. 분석결과 부산시는 이 중 선박금융공사 설립을 가장 선호하는 안으로 꼽고 있는데 이는 정부나 선박금융시장에서의 선호도와는 차이가 큰 결과이다.

The Eligibility of Busan Port as A Hub Port in North East Asia

  • Many countries in the North East Asia are competing with each other in order to become a centre of international logistics activities. The competition to become a hub port in Far East region is now fierce. The anticipated investments on improving port facilities and attracting the mega carriers are immense for all the ports in the region and the extent of the effort could cripple the local ports and region's economy given the limited financial resources. It is, however, impossible to avoid the disastrous possibility that the massive investments could be channeled into the port, which will never become a hub port, as no port is ready to currently admit defeat and settle as a small regional port. In an attempt to minimise such disastrous waste of resources, ports need to verify the eligibility of their own. This paper tests a system dynamics model using the Port of Busan to understand and illustrate the principle guideline of investment decision making for ports.

One Response from the South: Singapore's Efforts at Developing Hub Functions

  • As Asia becomes increasingly integrated economically, opportunity particularly in managing financial flows, as bases to coordinate regional production networks, and as staging points for the penetration of new markets. The paper argues for a path-dependent logic to understanding the efforts of the Singapore State in hosting hub functions. As a city-state without a national economic hinterland, Singapore's response to increasing business costs and regional competition has been to create a set of policies designed to encourage multinational companies to keep administrative control functions in Singapore while moving the more labour and land intensive production functions to nearby Malaysia and Indonesia. An understanding of the competition among cities in the Asia Pacific for hub functions must also take into account corporate strategy within particular industry dynamics. The second half of the paper provides a number of case studies to show this interplay between corporate strategy, industry dynamic and government policy.
