These days, many image processing techniques have been studied for effective image compression. Among those, The 2D image filtering is widely used for 2D image processing. The 2D image filtering can be implemented by performing the 1D linear filter separately in the horizontal and vertical direction. Efficiency of image compression depends on what filtering method is used. Generally, circular convolution is widely used in 2D image filtering for image processing. However it doesn't consider correlations at the boundary region of image, therefore effective filtering can not be performed. To solve this problem. I proposed new convolution technique using loop convolution which satisfies the 'alias-free' and 'error-free' requirement in the reconstructed image. This method could provide more effective compression performance than former methods because it used highly-correlated data when performed at the boundary region. In this paper, Sub-band Coding(SBC) was adopted to analyze efficiency of proposed filtering technique, and the simulator developed by Java-based language was used to examine the performance of proposed method.

Incidents, which is unexpected unusual events such as traffic accidents, have increased on the most roads in Korea. The obstruction of a fluent traffic flow occurred by incidents causes the traffic congestion and decreases the capacity. The Wavelet technique was applied to detect the road section and the happening time of incidents on urban freeways in this study, and this technique has been widely used in many engineering fields such as an electrical engineering, etc. The availability and validity of the Wavelet technique to the detection of incidents was examined by the occupancy rate, the important element of traffic flows, which is extracted from the data of detectors installed on Seoul Urban freeways. Then, this result is compared to the California Algorithm and the Low-Pass Filtering Algorithm among basic present detection algorithms, which are based on the occupancy rate. As a result, the false alarm rate of this method was similar as that of the California algorithm and the Low-Pass Filtering algorithm, but the detection rate is higher.

In this paper, the features extraction of reflected signals from various type of defects existing in the solid has been studied by Wiener filtering technique. In this experiment, three types of the defect have been considered; a flat cut, a angular cut and a circular hole. All of the defects have the same size, 20mm in diameter and have been located at 45mm in depth from the aluminum surface. In the result of the experiment, it has been found that the wiener filtering technique used for features extraction from the reflected signal corresponding to each defect have been very effective for defect classification.

A new video interpolation technique based on variable skip rate of video sequence is proposed in this paper. in the proposed technique. the determination whether a frame is skipped or not is done by the degree of motion complexity of the frame. If the motion complexity of a frame is low the frame is skipped. otherwise it is coded and transmitted. To determine the motion complexity of a frame a new technique using MEF (moving edge in frame),the set of pixels considered as moving edges in a frame. is introduced. In the course of decoding and interpolating of receiver., the motion field is segmented. For the purpose of dividing vector field morphological filtering is applied. Morphological filtering also used to smooth the boundaries between the changed and unchanged region. In the simulation results, the proposed technique shows higher quality and lower fluctuation of picture quality than the conventional techniques on conditioning of the same bit rate.
The increase of image spam, a kind of spam in which the text message is embedded into attached image to defeat spam filtering technique, is a major problem of the current e-mail system. For nearly a decade, content based filtering using text classification or machine learning has been a major trend of anti-spam filtering system. Recently, spammers try to defeat anti-spam filter by many techniques. Text embedding into attached image is one of them. We proposed an ontology spam filters. However, the proposed system handles only text e-mail and the percentage of attached images is increasing sharply. The contribution of the paper is that we add image e-mail handling capability into the anti-spam filtering system keeping the advantages of the previous text based spam e-mail filtering system. Also, the proposed system gives a low false negative value, which means that user's valuable e-mail is rarely regarded as a spam e-mail.
In this study, the digital image processing with image enhancement based on homomorphic filtering was performed using geophysical imaging data such as gravity, magnetic data and sub-scenes of satellite images such as LANDSAT, IKONOS, and KOMPSAT. Windows application program for executing homomorphic filtering was designed and newly implemented. In general, homomorphic filtering is technique that is based on Fourier transform, which enhances the contrast of image by removing the low frequencies and amplifying the high frequencies in frequency domain. We can enhance the image selectively using homomorphic filtering as compared with the existing method, which enhance the image totally. Through several experiment using remotely sensed imagery and geophysical image with this program, it is concluded that homomorphic filtering is more effective to reveal distinct characteristics for some complicated and multi-associated features on image data.
An adaptive beamforming system based on code filtering and differential correlation approaches is proposed. The differential correlation method was originally proposed for time delay estimation of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems under near-far ratio conditions and the code filtering correlation algorithm, on the other hand, was proposed for array response estimation in DS-CDMA systems under perfect power control. In this paper, by combining differential correlation concept with the code filtering beamforming technology, an accurate estimate of the beam forming weights and an enhanced performance of DS-CDMA systems under sever near-far ratio conditions is achieved. The system performance in terms of beam pattern and bit-error-rate (HER) shows that the proposed adaptive beamformer outperforms the conventional code filtering correlation technique.
Two defects have been pointed out in existing user-based collaborative filtering such as sparsity and scalability, and the research has been also made progress, which tries to improve these defects using item-based collaborative filtering. Actually there were many results, but the problem of sparsity still remains because of being based on an explicit data. In addition, the issue has been pointed out. which attributes of item arenot reflected in the recommendation. This paper suggests a recommendation method using nave Bayesian algorithm in hybrid user and item-based collaborative filtering to improve above-mentioned defects of existing item-based collaborative filtering. This method generates a similarity table for each user and item, then it improves the accuracy of prediction and recommendation item using naive Bayesianalgorithm. It was compared and evaluated with existing item-based collaborative filtering technique to estimate the accuracy.
Adaptive template filtering has been proposed recently for enhancement of signal-to-noise ratio without loss of resolution. In the adaptive template filtering, an optimal template among multiple templates is selected, then linear least square error filtering based on the template is applied in vowel by vowel basis. In some magnetic resonance imaging, where the distribution of gray level has relatively small dynamic range, e.g., $T_1$ imaging, however, artificial stair-like artifact is observed at near edges. This is partially due to the edge enhancement effect in such yokels that contain multiple compounds at the boundaries of tissues. The gray levels of these yokels become similar gray levels of near dominant vowels that contain single compound by the adaptive filtering, which enlarges edge discontinuities. In this paper, we propose a technique to eliminate such artifact by identifying those yokels that contain multiple compounds and assigning the largest template for them. Filtered images with the proposed technique show substantial visual enhancement at the edges without degradation of peak signal-to-noise ratio compared to the original adaptive template filtering for both magnetic resonance images and phantom images.
Collaborative filtering is a popular technique for information filtering to reduce information overload and widely used in application such as recommender system in the E-commerce domain. Collaborative filtering systems collect human ratings and provide Predictions based on the ratings of other people who share the same tastes. The quality of predictions depends on the number of items which are commonly rated by people. Therefore, it is difficult to apply pure collaborative filtering algorithm directly to dynamic collections where items are constantly added or removed. In this paper we suggest a method for managing dynamic collections. It creates taste space for items using a technique called Singular Vector Decomposition (SVD) and maintains clusters of core items on the space to estimate relevance of past and future items. To evaluate the proposed method, we divide database of user ratings into those of old and new items and analyze predicted ratings of the latter. And we experimentally show our method is efficiently applied to dynamic collections.
