Design and Fabrication of CMOS Micro Humidity Sensor System (CMOS 마이크로 습도센서 시스템의 설계 및 제작)

  • Integrated humidity sensor system with two stages operational amplifier has been designed and fabricated by $0.8{\mu}m$ analog mixed CMOS technology. The system (28 pin and $2mm{\times}4mm$) consisted of Wheatstone-bridge type humidity sensor, resistive type humidity sensor, temperature sensors and operational amplifier for signal amplification and process in one chip. The poly-nitride etch stop process has been tried to form the sensing area as well as trench in a standard CMOS process. This modified technique did not affect the CMOS devices in their essential characteristics and gave an allowance to fabricate the system on same chip by standard process. The operational amplifier showed the stable operation so that unity gain bandwidth was more than 5.46 MHz and slew rate was more than 10 V/uS, respectively. The drain current of n-channel humidity sensitive field effect transistor (HUSFET) increased from 0.54 mA to 0.68 mA as the relative humidity increased from 10 to 70 %RH.

  • Other than in the fields of rolling stock and marine, in England, UK, Phenolic Composites (herein after, PCs) have been significantly utilized to fire protecting panels in construction, in particular, in architectures. In general, indeed, so-called "Plastic" or "Synthesized Resins" have been applied successfully in our societies all over the world, however, once, when ignited from somewhat reason, they burn much easily generating large amount of "SMOKE" from their nature of petroleum-borne materials as a matter of fact, people have forgotten about it. "SMOKE" caused many fire accidents horror tragedies as everyday people know today. The experts in this field such as PC engineers, researchers and others can take their responsibilities to explain it, persuade it and realize "Safer Environment for People" with well-experienced and technology innovated PCs. In this paper, the co-authors, collaborating UK and Japan, are making efforts to report how the PCs work good jobs to our societies showing some successful track records in construction or architecture fields in UK. How about on this matter in Japan\ulcorner "SMOKE fire" is always waiting fur us. Effect of internal stress on cyclic fatigue failure in .06 taper ProFile (내부 응력이 .06 taper ProFile의 피로 파절에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between intentionally induced internal stress and cyclic fatigue failure of .06 taper ProFile. Materials and Methods: Length 25 mm, .06 taper ProFile (Dentsply Maillefer), and size 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 were used in this study. To give the internal stress, the rotary NiTi files were put into the .02 taper, Endo-Training-Bloc (Dentsply Maillefer) until auto-stop by torque controlled motor. Rotary NiTi files were grouped by the number of induced internal stress and randomly distributed among one control group and three experimental groups (n = 10, Stress 0 [control], Stress 1, Stress 2 and Stress 3). For cyclic fatigue measurement, time for separation of the rotary NiTi files was recorded. The fractured surfaces were observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM, SU-70, Hitachi). The time for separation was statistically analyzed using two-way ANOVA and post-hoc Scheffe test at 95% level. Results: In .06 taper ProFile size 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40, there were statistically significant difference on time for separation between control group and the other groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In the limitation of this study, cyclic fatigue failure of .06 taper ProFile is influenced by internal stress accumulated in the files.

  • This study aims to the effectiveness of physical examination using VR contents to solve problems such as the increase in chronic diseases and shortage of professional manpower in the health care field according to the aging and low birth rate, and to provide efficient healthcare. Therefore, this study implemented a one-stop VR content physical examination system by wearing HTC VIVE Pro VR and a stick controller. The system is from step 1 to step 5, and the final body age is determined and a simple solution is provided through five steps sequentially: color blind test, memory test, audiogram test, reaction speed test, and instantaneous cognitive ability test. In addition, for the one-stop VR content physical examination system developed by this study, as a result of verifying the user satisfaction for normal people who visited the health examination center and VR/AR clinical trial center of certified tertiary hospital in Daejeon, the overall satisfaction and the intention to reuse Was high, and according to gender, there was a significant difference in the 5-step test, and according to the age, there were significant differences in the 4-step test and the 5-step test.

An Evaluation of Field Performance of Environmentally Friendly Asphalt Pavement (친환경 아스팔트 도로포장의 현장 공용성 분석)

  • Warm mix asphalt(WMA), which is produced at lower temperatures than hot mix asphalt, has advantages in reductions of fuel consumption and greenhouse-gas emission. In this study, field tests such as skid resistance, rutting(permanent deformation), and roughness were conducted for analysis of long-term field performance of modified warm mix asphalt pavement. Skid resistance after 20 months represents the result similar to initial performance results but rutting and roughness decreased somewhat depending on the period of performance. Measurement results of permanent deformation and roughness could be acceptable because measured pavement location is bus lane that a lot of buses pass and stop. There were no cracks after 11 months, but some minor cracks were observed after 20 months. These results were influenced by increased crack resistance due to fiber addition.

  • This study focuses on the development of a new method of H-shaped beam-to-square column connection with an outer diaphragm and a field welding. The specific type of beam-to-column connection with an external stiffener, using field welding, is proposed. The structural behavior of this connection was examined experimentally. Two loading type tests were conducted under the experimental parameters given as details. First described was the symmetrical loading test, which supported both ends or a beam simply and applied a load from the column to the pend (What does this mean?) to investigate a fundamental characteristic of this connection. Further described was the anti-symmetrical loading test, which carried out simple support of the column'stop end and the column base, and applied a load from both ends of a beam to investigate the structural performance of this connection. From the results, it is clear that the external- stiffener-type connection proposed in this paper is the reliable connection method.

  • This paper formulates the principle of the magnetic actuator break system (MASS) for emergency situation driving a car. When the exciting break system of a car is broken, MASS will be able to stop the car by the electric system. MASS controls the rotating wheel to slow down gradually while holding and laying the wheel down several ten times per second. We present the magnetic field and dynamic behavior analyses for the magnetic actuator break system using finite element method (FEM) associated with parameter, for calculating the displacement of the moving parts and the supplying current.

  • Software developers often allocate a significant amount of effort to software testing. But for most business-related software system it is natural to expect the continued discovery of defects after the software system is released into field. Such defects are usually very expensive to fix and have the potential to cause great damages to the users. It is important to stop testing the software and release it to the users at the correct time. In this paper, we propose the determination of the optimal number of software test oy minimizing a total expected software cost. A numerical example is used when the criterion is the expected profit. The result indicates that the proposed software release policy based on the number of software test can be a good alternative to the existing policy.

  • In the present work, a new approach is proposed for via interconnects of semiconductor devices, where multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are used instead of conventional metals. In order to implement a selective growth of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for via interconnect, the buried catalyst method is selected which is the most compatible with semiconductor processes. The cobalt catalyst for CNT growth is pre-deposited before via hole patterning, and to achieve the via etch stop on the thin catalyst layer (ca. 3nm), a novel 2-step etch scheme is designed; the first step is a conventional oxide etch while the second step chemically etches the silicon nitride layer to lower the damage of the catalyst layer. The results show that the 2-step etch scheme is a feasible candidate for the realization of CNT interconnects in conventional semiconductor devices.

  • Automotive transmission is the principle component of vehicle driving system, which transmits the adjusted engine power. The automation of transmission arises from the annoyance of transmission operation such as the frequent stop/start of vehicle and the shifting transients. The study on the optimal shifting condition for the automation of transmission needs the investigation of shifting transients. However, the dynamic modeling theory during transient period is not well-established. In this study, the techniques of dynamic modeling for the power transmission system with Merrite-Wilson gear train are presented. To predict the shifting transients, a driving simulation program is developed, and the results of the analysis are cross-checked in the field test.
