The purpose of this study was to (md out the characteristics of the residential house in Ulleung Island in terms of building materials, structure and construction method, structural design by actual field surveys. This study found several facts; First, the house was classified into the log house and mud-wall house according to building material for wall structure. The log house prevailed in the early days of the settlement in the island because of affulent timber materials available around. However, the mud wall house became a popular type in later days because of the depletion of timber materials. Second, the Udeki wall was an unique installation reflecting the severe climate conditions of Ulleung Island. However, many aspects of the Udeki wall was changed according to the change of living style and the introduction of modem heating systems in terms of its function, size, building material, layout position etc. Third, the roofing material also has been changed from materials available locally to slate materials transported from the mainland. Fourth, the bamboo slender-ribbed door as a single-swing door type was popular and later time the single-sliding door or three ribbed door was widely used in rooms installed later instead. Fifth, the roof was placed over the room, kitchen, and Chukdam (outer wall) and this was a resonable way to cope with heavy snowfalls in the winter season in Ulleung Island.

A spray-wall impingement process of a hollow-cone fuel spray from the high-pressure swirl injector in the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine were experimented and calculated at various wall geometries. The Linearized Instability Sheet Atomization (LISA) & the Aerodynamically Progressed Taylor Analogy Breakup (APTAB) model and the Gosman model were applied to model the breakup and the wall impingement process of the hollow-cone fuel spray. The numerical modelings were implemented in the modified KIVA code. The calculation results of spray characteristics, such as a spray development process and a radial distance after wall impingement, compared with the experimental results by the Laser Induced Exciplex Fluorescence (LIEF) technique. The droplet size distribution and the ambient gas velocity field, which are generally difficult to obtain by the experimental methods, were also calculated and discussed. It was found that the radial distance after wall impingement and Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) decreased with increasing a cavity angle.

Most tasks of the large vertical or ceiling structures have been carried out by human power. Those tasks require us much operation costs and times, safety devices, etc. So the need of automation for those tasks have been rising. That automation needs a wall-climbing mobile vehicle. Most former researches are things about attachment devices and moving mechanisms. A wall-climbing mobile vehicle must be designed by a method different from the case of the vehicle of the horizontal environment. That is because gravity acts as a negative role on the stability of a wall-climbing vehicle. In this thesis, the particular shape characteristics of a wall-climbing mobile vehicle are derived by the wall-environment modeling. In addition, some design constraints of the permanent magnetic wheel as an attachment device was studied. According to those requirements and constraints, one specific wall-climbing mobile vehicle was designed and some experiments were made on the attachment ability of that vehicle.
A major concern in deep excavation project in soft clay deposits is the potential for adjacent buildings to be damaged as a result of the associated excessive ground movements. In order to accurately determine the wall deflections using a numerical procedure such as the finite element method, it is critical to use the correct soil parameters such as the stiffness/strength properties. This can be carried out by performing an inverse analysis using the measured wall deflections. This paper firstly presents the results of extensive plane strain finite element analyses of braced diaphragm walls to examine the influence of various parameters such as the excavation geometry, soil properties and wall stiffness on the wall deflections. Based on these results, a multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) model was developed for inverse parameter identification of the soil relative stiffness ratio. A second MARS model was also developed for inverse parameter estimation of the wall system stiffness, to enable designers to determine the appropriate wall size during the preliminary design phase. Soil relative stiffness ratios and system stiffness values derived via these two different MARS models were found to compare favourably with a number of field and published records.

Breaking the fourth wall is a very popular concept right now, and depictions of breaking the barrier between virtuality and reality are often used in game advertising. In VR games, game manufacturers describe the experience after breaking the fourth wall as an experiencer who will be completely immersed in the virtual world, as if they are actually living in the virtual world. At the same time, research in the field of traditional drama also shows that breaking the fourth wall can also bring a sense of alienation to the player, allowing the experiencer to clearly realize that he and the character are in a completely different world, and to conduct aesthetic criticism of related works of art.So why there are two completely different feelings after breaking the fourth wall will be the content of this article. This article will focus on the theoretical analysis of the relationship between two different cognitions and two completely different cognitions after breaking the fourth wall. Finally, it will be analyzed from three directions: game perspective, game art style, and different world views of the game. Finally, it was concluded that when players break the fourth wall in the game, these three factors will cause the experiencer to have two completely different cognitions.
Although masonry buildings fell into disfavour in the 1990's because of factors such ac bricklayers' high labor costs, bad reputation of poorly constructed masonry, masonry face wall is still preferred in korea as well as in other countries for its decorative value. Recently may problems with masonry face wall with opening have been reported, including cracks, deflection, swelling and even wall collapse in old masonry buildings, that mainly induced from the corrosion of connecting materials. So, it is necessary to develop the effective and uncorrosion connector. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the structural performance of masonry face walls with opening constructed by new connectors, spiral stainless anchors and to provide basic data for the field application of this method. The specimen reinforced bed joint has maximum load and displacement any other specimens.
The effect of axial slit wall of outer cylinder on Taylor-Couette flow was experimentally investigated. The axial slits were azimuthally located along the inner wall of outer cylinder and the number of slits was 6, 9 and 18. The radius ratio and aspect ratio of the experimental models was 0.825 and 48, respectively. We used PIV method to measure the flow field and applied refractive index matching method to resolve the image distortion due to the complex model geometry. The results showed the effect of slit on the flow transition is increased as the number of slit increased. When the model has 6 slits, there were hardly the effect of axial slit wall and the flow transition happened at the same Reynolds number of plain smooth wall model case.

Down through the years, human needs and desires have required a robot system to work at hazardous environments instead. Current painting task is costly and laborious, and it exposes workers to significant health and safety risks. Automation system offers potential improvement in this area and is especially well suited to the outer-wall painting tasks in concrete structures. This paper introduces the result of gondola-type building management robot(G-BMR) platform and mechanism for moving/tasking on building outer-wall for the outer-wall painting. Its technical and economic feasibility are conducted, and it is concluded that developing G-BMR is physically and economically feasible in this research. And we discuss about the future of G-BMR and automation in construction field.
Three-dimensional structures of a vortical flow field and heat transfer characteristics in a partially blocked 7-pin fuel assembly mock-up of sodium-cooled fast reactor have been investigated through a numerical analysis using a commercial computational fluid dynamics code, ANSYS CFX. The simulation with the SST turbulence model agrees well with the experimental data of outlet and cladding wall temperatures. From the analysis on the limiting streamline at the wall, multi-scale vortexes developed in axial direction were found around the blockage. The vortex core has a high cladding wall temperature, and the attachment line has a low cladding wall temperature. The small-scale vortex structures significantly enhance the convective heat transfer because it increases the turbulent mixing and the turbulence kinetic energy. The large-scale vortex structures supply thermal energy near the heated cladding wall surface. It is expected that control of the vortex structures in the fuel assembly plays a significant role in the convective heat transfer enhancement. Furthermore, the blockage plate and grid spacer increase the pressure drop to about 36% compared to the bare case.

Until now, design of Earth Retaining is practiced by 2nd dimensional analysis for convenience of analysis and time saving. However, the construction field is 3rd dimension, in this study, practised the 3rd dimensional analysis which can reflect the field condition more exactly the scope of earth retaining wall, and researched about the effective and economical way of design, compared and reviewed with the results, by practising both the 2nd and 3rd dimensional analysis. existing 2nd dimension. the depth of excavation, depth of embedded and soil condition. As result, under the whole conditions, more displacement came to appear to the value as result of 3rd dimensional analysis more than the result of 2nd dimensional analysis. Accordingly, the displacement by the 2nd dimension analysis is underestimated. Moreover, results of 2nd and 3rd dimensional analysis, there is no difference at displacement, when the depth of embedded is 0.5H, 1.0H and 1.5H, but Displacement of 1.5H is smaller than 0.5H, 1.0H. That is, the bigger the depth of embedded becomes, the displacement of Earth Retaining Wall appeared smaller. The displacement of earth retaining wall according to depth of excavation appeared bigger, when the depth of excavation is increased. In the meantime, when the soil condition is different, in the 2nd dimensional analysis, the displacement appeared biggest, in case of the clay layer, but in the 3rd dimensional analysis, in the beginning of excavating, the displacement of earth retaining wall appeared bigger in case of clay layer, but as excavating is in progress, the displacement of both compound soil layer and sand layer appeared big.
