남극 세종기지에서의 지자기 모니터링 (Geomagnetic Field Monitoring at King Sejong Station, Antarctica)

  • The variation of geomagnetic field and absolute magnetic field at the geomagnetic observatory of King Sejong Station has been measured with 3-component ring core fluxgate magnetometer, proton magnetometer and D-I magnetometer. With data obtained from King Sejong Station during 2003, thediurnal and annual variations of geomagnetic field were researched and compared with those at other observatories. The deviation of daily variation of magnetic field in antarctica decreased gradually during winter season due to sun effect. The rates of componental annual variation of magnetic field at King Sejong Station were calculated using the least-square method under the assumption that the annual variation of magnetic field is linear. The rates are -55.93 nT/year in horizontal intensity, -0.87 min./year in declination, 58.30 nT/year in vertical intensity, and -69.85 nT/year in total intensity of magnetic field. A remarkable variation was caused by the magnetic storms occurred on 29~30 October, which were so powerful that the variation was observed in mid latitudes as well as high latitudes. The values of variation are generally 1500 2000 nT in Antarctica including King Sejong Station, 350 500 nT in East Asia. The measurement of absolute magnetic field shows that ring core fluxgate magnetometer has relatively large error range under cold temperature.

  • We derived a formula which can calculate the space distribution of refractive index variation by an applied electric field about Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ single crystal. Stereographic projection maps of refractive index variation by an applied electric field were made out using numerical value to be calculated by this formula. By the calculated results, since an electric field had applied to [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction of Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ crystal, positive variation of the refractive index of [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The incremented refractive index per unit electric field was +3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$. Since an electric field had applied to [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction, negative variation of the refractive index of [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The decremented refractive index per unit electric field was -3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$.

Active vibration control: considering effect of electric field on coefficients of PZT patches

  • Piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant of PZT-5H vary with electric field. In this work, variations of these coefficients with electric field are included in finite element modelling of a cantilevered plate instrumented with piezoelectric patches. Finite element model is reduced using modal truncation and then converted into state-space. First three modal displacements and velocities are estimated using Kalman observer. Negative first modal velocity feedback is used to control the vibrations of the smart plate. Three cases are considered v.i.z case 1: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is not considered in finite element model and not considered in Kalman observer, case 2: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is considered in finite element model and not considered in Kalman observer and case 3: in which variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with electric field is considered in finite element model as well as in Kalman observer. Simulation results show that appreciable amount of change would appear if variation of piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant with r.m.s. value of electric field is considered.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 지구 내부의 동적 코어에서 공간과 시간에 따라서 발생하는 지구 자기장 구조와 그에 따른 경년 자차변화를 모델링하고 연구하는 것이다. 지구의 주 자장과 경년 자차변화에 대한 구형 조화 모델은, 외부 간섭자장이나 내부의 불균일 등이 없다는 가정 하에 안정되고 왜곡되지 않은 지구상 어떠한 위치에서의 지구자장의 구조와 세기를 나타낼 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 선박용 디지털 컴퍼스를 이러한 지구자장 에 적용하는 경우를 고려해 지구의 원 조화 모텔에 대한 실제 적용방법과 절차를 기술하였다.

  • 비파괴검사는 탐지물체에 물리적 손상을 가하지 않고 내부 정보를 파악할 수 있어 다양한 분야에서 이용되고 있다. 그 중 전자기를 이용한 물체의 형상추정방법의 경우 역 유한요소법을 이용하여야 하지만 이는 비선형성이 강하고 수치계산이 복잡하고 측정 센서의 개수가 미지수의 개수보다 훨씬 적어 정확한 결과를 얻는데 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 탐지물체에 의한 자기장 변화 신호만을 이용하여, 물체의 시스템 내 각 센서별 위치에서 물체와 등가면적의 원의 비교를 통해 비교적 간편하게 자성물체의 부피를 판정하고 형상추정을 위한 다양한 보정과정을 거쳐 탐지물체의 형상판정이 가능한 알고리즘을 제안하고 검증하였다.

부정형 조사면에서의 TLD를 이용한 방사선 흡수선량 측정 (Dosimetry of Irregular Field Using Thermoluminescence Dosimetry)

  • In clinical radiotherapy, the use of wide and irregular field techniques frequently results in considerable tumor dose inhomogeneity because of, the variation in physical characteristics of irradiated volumes. This report describes an analysis of the dosimetry of the irregular fields such as radiation fields for Hodgkin's disease(mantle field), esophageal cancer, and lung cancer when a 6 MV and a 15 MV linear accelerators are utilized. Doses were measured in a Rando phantom using methods of thermoluminescence dosimetry(TLD), and were calculated by radiotherapy planning computer system with the Clarkson's method for calculation of a irregular field. A dose variation of $5-22\%,\;6-9\%,\;6-14\%$ were found in the mantle field, esophageal cancer field, lung cancer field respectively. Higher doses occurred in the superior portion of the irregular field. The sites of maximum dose variation were the supraclavicular and the upper spinal cord region. To adjust for these substantial differences, a compensator or a shrinking field technique should be adopted.

가청 주파수대 음장 변화 측정 기반 침입 감지 기술 (Intrusion detection based on the sound field variation of audible frequency band)

  • In this paper, intrusion detection technique based on the sound field variation of audio frequency in the security space is proposed. The sound field formed by sound source can be detected with the microphone when the obstacle or intruder is positioned. The sound field variation due to the intruder is based on the interference of audio wave. With the help of numerical simulation of sound field formations, the increase or decrease of sound pressure level is analyzed not only the obstacle, but also the intruder. Even the microphone is positioned behind the source, sound pressure level can be increase or decrease due to the interference. Frequency response test is performed with Gaussian white noise signal to get the whole frequency response from 0 to half of sampling frequency. There are three security cases. Case 1 is the situation of empty space with and without intruder, case 2 is the situation of blocking obstacle with and without intruder, and case 3 is the situation of side blocking obstacle with and without intruder. At each case, the frequency response is obtained first at the security space without intruder, and second with intruder. From the experiment, intruder size of $50cm{\times}50cm$ can be successfully detected with the proposed technique. Moreover, the case 2 or case 3 bring about bigger sound field variation. It means that the proposed technique have the potential of more credible security sensing in real situation.

  • Automatic train control systems are divided into ATC, ATP and ATS systems etc. The ATP and ATS systems offer discontinuous information for train control. While the ATC systems provide continueous information for train control. There is a method for offering continuous information by AF track circuits. Magnetic fields are formed by current through rails in the AF track circuit systems. So, the continuous information is received by the magnetic fields on a on-board antenna. Coating materials on rails are researched to decrease defects such as head check, shelling, corrugation, squats and so on in Germany. Currently, a coating method of rail construction is proposed by using the ceramics in Korea. When deciding physical characteristic of ceramics, researches are required about variation of flux density by the ceramics. In case that the flux density is much lower than existing value, the information for train control is not transmitted to the on-board antenna. In this paper, inductance on rails is calculated and a model is presented about variation of the magnetic field intensity in the AF track circuit. Standard permeability of ceramics is proposed by analyzing the variation of magnetic field intensity. It is demonstrated by using Maxwell and Matlab program.

  • 지구자장의 주자장과 경년변화에 대한 원통형 지구 조화 모델은, 지구가 지엽적으로 불균형 또는 외부 소스가 없는 정상상태라고 가정하는 경우, 어느 지역의 지구자장 구조와 자장의 세기를 나타낼 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 기초 연구로서 선박용 디지털 컴퍼스를 실제 지구자장에 적용하는 경우의 원통형 조화 모델에 대한 관련 방법과 절차 등을 조사하였다.
