The power flow analysis of electrified railway is required complicated calculation, because of variable load. Train runs trough rail supplied by electric power therefore, the load value in electrified railway system fluctuates along time. The power flow algorithm in electrified railway system is different from general power system, and the power flow simulation is peformed by the particular simulation software. Powerail is simulation software for analysis of traction power supply system developed by KRRI, in 2008. This consists of load forecasting module, including TPS and time scheduling, and power flow module. This software was verified by measured current under normal feeding condition, however, has not been verified by voltage on the condition of extended feeding. This paper presents the verification of PowerRail based on voltage drop under extended feeding condition. This is performed by comparing simulation result with field test. Field test and simulation is done in commercial railway line.
Performance improvement of helical piles in static load tests using hexagon joints that do not require welding or bolting was investigated. Two sites were selected for pile field tests to evaluate their bearing capacity. Static and pull-out load tests were undertaken to assess the method for estimating bearing capacity. The field tests indicated that the bearing capacity of the gravity grout pile was ≥600 kN in the static load test, consistent with the AC 358 Code. The non-grout pile had a bearing capacity of ≤600 kN, suggesting that gravity grouting is required. Field pile load-test results were used to establish the bearing capacity equation, based on a small number of helical pile.
This paper compares the load transfer efficiency between precast concrete pavement specimen and typical concrete pavement specimen by means of laboratory and field tests. An experimental method was developed to evaluate the load transfer efficiency of the dowel bars buried in the concrete pocket and grouted with cement mortar. The test results showed that the load transfer efficiency of the specimen for the dowel bars repaired with grout was equivalent to that of the control specimen. In addition, a series of FWD field tests were conducted on the precast pavement to evaluate the joint stiffness. The field test results revealed that the central deflection of the precast slab slightly increased but the load transfer efficiencies at the joints were almost the same as those in the typical concrete pavement slab.

Because of the limitations of maximal load tests for $VO_2max$, submaximal tests using cycle ergometer are used for field study in general. This study was conducted to evaluate validity of various submaximal tests using cycle ergometer. This study had been conducted during May to June 2005, which subjects were 15 males and 15 females in twenties. Experiment was performed with restrictive conditions which regulated ambient temperature, noise, and entrance restriction. Submaximal load test protocols including YMCA Protocol (YP), ${\AA}strand$-Rhyming Protocol (ARP), Relative heart ratio Protocol (RP), and Ramp test Protocol (RP) were compared with maximal load test which used gas mask analyser using Bruce Protocol. All submaximal load tests were highly related with maximal load test (Spearman's correlation coefficient > 0.60) with statistical significancy. The highest correlation coefficient with maximal test was found in RP. Three submaximal test results except RP were significantly different with maximal test results (Wilcoxon rank test). All submaximal tests had high validity. The reason why RP had highest validity might be that it represents Korean physical strength and individual differences better than the others. RP using cycle ergometer would make easy to study for physical capacity evaluation and field workload estimation.

For the reliability evaluation of the track drive unit(TDU), firstly, we analyzed the major failure modes through FMEA(failure mode & effects analysis), FTA(failure tree analysis), and 2-stage QFD(quality function deployment), and then quantitatively determined the priority order of test items. The Minitab analysis was also performed for prediction of life distribution and parameters of TDU by use of field failure data collected from 430 excavators for two years. In addition, we converted the fluctuation load in field conditions into the equivalent load, and for evaluation of the accelerated lift by the cumulative fatigues, the equivalent load is again divided into the fluctuation load by reference of test time. And then, by use of the test method in this paper, the acceleration factor(AF) of needle bearing inside planetary gear which is the most weakly designed part of TDU is achieved as 5.3. This paper presents the quantitative selection method of test items for reliability evaluation, the determination method of the accelerated life test time, and the method of non-failure test time based on a few of samples. And, we proved the propriety of the proposed methods by experiments using a TDU for a 30 ton excavator.

In this study, the load-transfer behavior along the shaft of the prebored and precast piles was investigated by pile loading tests. Special attention was given to quantifying the skin frictions developed between the pile-soil interfaces of the 14 instrumented test piles. Based on this detailed field tests, the load - settlement curves and axial load distributions of piles were obtained and the load-transfer curves (t-z curves) for the test piles were proposed. As such, it is found that the test results show two different load transfer behaviors; ductile and brittle behavior curves. The corresponding t-z curves are proposed based on the hyperbolic- and sawtooth-shape, respectively. By validating the accuracy of the proposed curves, it is also found that the prediction results based on the proposed load-transfer curve are in good agreement with the general trends observed by the field loading tests.
This work presents a test platform for the assessment and benchmarking of modern actuators which have been specifically developed for the new field and service robotics applications. This versatile platform has been designed for the comparative analysis of actuators of dissimilar technology and operating conditions. It combines a modular design to adapt to linear and rotational actuators of different sizes, shapes and functions, as well as those with different load capacities, power and displacement. This test platform emulates the kinematics of robotic joints while an adaptive antagonist-load actuator allows reproducing the variable dynamic loads that actuators used in real robotics applications will be subjected to. A data acquisition system is used for monitoring and analyzing test actuator performance. The test platform combines hardware and software in the loop to allow actuator performance characterization. The use of the proposed test platform is demonstrated through the characterization and benchmarking of three controllable impedance actuators recently being incorporated into modern robotics.
This study was carried out to develop a system and methodology to simulate the engine load variation occuring during agricultural field operations for a laboratory engine test. The system consisted of an electric dynamometer, an Apple II microcomputer, and a data acquisition and control system. Several pieces of instruments were utilized to measure various engine performance data. Both engine torque and engine speed were fully controlled by a computer program. The dynamic characteristics of the system were analyzed through a series of tests and the limitations on the load simulation test were presented. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. Engine speed and toque were controlled by a computer program. The use of a stepping motor and reduction gears enabled engine speed be controlled within 1 rpm. 2. The natural frequency of the dynamometer-engine system was found to be around 5 Hz, at which the load simulation would be impossible because of resonance. 3. For the harmonic inputs with the frequencies above the natural frequency, the signal attenuated too much and therefore the load simulation was impossible. 4. The step response of the system showed an overshoot of 24.5 percent and the settling time for 5 percent criterion was around 3 seconds. 5. When actual field test data are utilized for load simulation, a low-pass filter should be included to attenuate the frequency components around and above the natural frequency.
In this paper, the static and dynamic responses of a tied-arch railway bridge under train load were studied through field tests. The deflection and stresses of the bridge were measured in different static loading scenarios. The dynamic load test of the bridge was carried out under the excitation of running train at different speeds. The dynamic properties of the bridge were investigated in terms of the free vibration characteristics, dynamic coefficients, accelerations, displacements and derailment coefficients. The results indicate that the tie of the measuring point has a significant effect on the vertical movement of the test section. The dynamic responses of arch bridge are insensitive to the number of trains. The derailment coefficients of locomotive and carriage increase with the train speed and symmetrically distributed double-line loads reduce the train derailment probability.
