  • Applications of the fiber optic sensing are glowing rapidly, particularly in situations where size, weight, speed, and immunity to electromagnetic interference are important considerations. The fiber optic current sensors have been developed for low frequency(60Hz) metering in electric power systems. But we try measure to high frequency large current by fiber optic current sensor based on Bi substituted rare earth iron garnet. In this paper, we report the linearity to 500 amperes and frequency response of signal processor and a result of detection the standard impulse large current of fiber optic impulse sensor system.

스파크 점화기관의 드웰각 변화에 의한 사이클 변동에 관한 연구 (A study of cycle-to-cycle variations with dwell angle in spark ignition engines)

  • The diagnostic used to observe the early flame development was a fiber optic spark plug, which enabled measurement of the flame front arrival times on a cycle-to-cycle basis. The data obtained with this fiber optic spark plug were analyzed to obtain two parameters to describe the behavior of the flame kernel : an expansion speed and a convection velocity. In addition, synchronized cylinder pressure data were taken to compare with the fiber optic spark plug data on a cyclic basis. Heat release analysis was performed on the cylinder pressure data to obtain the mass burning profile of the charge for each cycle. There was a significant correlation observed in the initial flame duration and the kernel expansion speed with dwell angle.

  • In this study, a plastic fiber-optic temperature sensor is fabricated using TSCM(thermo sensitive clouding material) which changes its light transmittance with temperature and the characteristics of this sensor are evaluated. The fabricated fiber optic temperature sensor is the reflector type using a Y-coupler. The optimum light source and reflector are decided by measuring the amount of reflected light through TSCM. Also, the optimum distance from the end of sensor to the surface of reflector is determined. Then the relationship between the amount of measured reflected light and the temperature of TSCM is found.

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 폐루프 신호처리를 이용한 광섬유자이로를 설계하고 성능 시험한 결과를 제시하였다. 회전 입력에 대한 자이로의 피드백 제어를 위해 디지털 세로다인 변조기법이 적용되었고, 환산계수의 안정화를 위해 변조진폭 및 광전력 제어회로를 설계하였다. 프로토타입 광섬유자이로를 시험한 결과, 바이어스 안정도 0.34 deg/hr, 환산계수 비선형도약 100ppm , 회전감지 영역 ${\pm}500$ deg/sec의 성능을 얻었다.

  • In a high speed spindle system, it is very important to monitor the state of rotating rotor. Particularly in active control spindle system, the position sensor must provide feedback to the control system on the exact position of the rotor. In order to monitor the state of a high speed spindle exactly, high accuracy and wide frequency bandwidth of sensors are important. The focus in this paper is to make a fiber optic sensor for monitoring rotor of magnetic bearing, to design the circuit for detecting optical signal, and to evaluation static and dynamic characteristics of fiber optic sensor.

  • 본 연구는 광통신을 위한 10Gbps CMOS 수신기 회로 설계에 관한 것이다. 수신기는 포토다이오드, 트랜스임피던스 증폭기, 리미팅 증폭기, 등화기, 클락 및 데이터 복원 회로, 디멀티플렉서, 기타 입출력 회로 등으로 구성돼있다. 여러 광대역 혹은 고속 회로 기법을 써서 SONET OC-192 표준용 광통신에 적합한, 효과적이고 신뢰성 있는 수신기를 구현하고자 하였다.

  • 이 논문은 광케이블인 optical fiber를 통해 의료용 signal을 전송 할 때 porarization obtain fiber 에서 mono mode fiber로 교체되는 지점에 integrated optic인 wave conductor를 사용하여, optical signal intensity의 maximum를 sensing 하기 위한 Algorithm Brent을 설계하고 이를 검토하였다.

  • 원전 2차계통수의 pH를 예측을 위해서는 샘플을 채취, 냉각시킨 후 pH를 측정하게 되는데 이 때 샘플의 온도는 pH를 변화시키는 중요한 요인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 할로겐화 은 광섬유를 이용하여 비접촉식 온도센서를 개발하였고, 열전쌍열을 이용하여 열원으로부터 방출되는 적외선을 측정하였다. 열원과 광섬유 끝단 사이의 거리 및 각도 변화에 따른 광섬유 온도센서의 출력신호를 분석하였으며, 광섬유 온도센서로 측정한 온도범위는 $25{\sim}60^{\circ}C$이다. 본 연구결과를 기초로 원전 2차계통수 pH 샘플의 온도를 측정하기 위해 할로겐화 은 광섬유를 이용한 비접촉식 온도센서의 개발이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The need to monitor and undertake remidial works on large structures has greatly increased in recent years due to the appearance of widespread faults in large structures such as bridges and buildings, etc, of 20 or more years of age. The health condition of structures must be monitored continuously to maintenance the structures. In order to do in-situ monitoring, the sensor is necessary to be embedded in the structures. Fiber optic sensors can be embedded in the structures to get the health information in the structures. The fiber sensor was constructed with $3{\times}3$ fiber couplers to sense the multi-point strains and failure instants. The 4 RC (reinforced concrete) beams were made to 2 of A type, 2 of B type beams. These beams were reinforced by the reinforcing bars, and were tested under the flexural loading. The behavior of the beams was simultaneously measured by the fiber optic sensors, electrical strain gages, and LVDT. The states of the beams were interpreted by these all signals. By these experiments, There were verified that the fiber optic sensors could measure the structural strains and failure instants of the RC beams, The fiber sensors were well operated until the failure of the beams. It was shown that the strains of the reinforcing steel bar can be used to monitor the health condition of the beams through the flexural test of RC beams. On the other words, the results were arrived that the two strains in the reinforcing bar measured at the same point can give the information of the structural health status. Also, the failure instants of beams were well detected from the fiber optic filtered signals.
