The confocal laser scanning microscopy and two-photon microscopy was implemented based on a single laser source and an objective lens. We imaged and compared the morphology of identical sites of ex vivo human skin using both microscopes. The back-scattering emission from the sample provided the contrast for the confocal microscopy. The intrinsic autofluorescence and the second harmonic generation were used as the luminescence source for the two-photon microscopy. The wavelength of the Ti:Sapphire laser was tuned at 710 nm, which corresponds to the excitation peak of NADH and FAD in skin tissue. The various cell layers in the epidermis and the papillary dermis were clearly distinguished by both imaging modalities. The two-photon microscopy more clearly visualized the intercellular region and the nucleus of the cell compared to the confocal microscopy. The fibrous structures in the dermis were more clearly resolved by the confocal microscopy. Numerous cells in papillary dermal layer, as deep as $100\;{\mu}m$, were observed in both CLSM and two-photon microscopy. While most previous studies focused on fibrous structure imaging (collagen and elastin fiber) in the dermis, we demonstrated that the combined imaging with the CLSM and two-photon microscopy can be applied for the non-invasive study of the population, distribution and metabolism of papillary dermal cells in skin.
In the context of Sustainable development, China, the world's second-largest apparel market, is also concerned about the environmental impact of fiber waste. Currently, there is a great interest in sustainable fashion in both supply and demand in China. Based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB), the determinants of sustainable fashion consumption(SFC) of Chinese consumers were evaluated in this study: man-nature orientation(MNO) and environmental knowledge(EK) as motivation and perceived online-store accessibility(POA) and perceived money availability(PMA) as barriers. Wenjuanxing, a Chinese professional survey collection agency, conducted an online survey of millennials in Shanghai, China. The final sample size for the survey was 215. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicated that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly affected the purchase intention towards sustainable fashion products. MNO and EK influenced the attitude, whereas EK, POA, and PMA influenced perceived behavioral control. This study contributes to the TPB literature through the examination of four antecedents: MNO, EK, POA, and PMA. The findings provide valuable insights for retailers and markets based on the identification of the motivations and barriers that enhance the purchasing intention of Chinese millennials toward SFC.
Objectives: This study was performed to compare the dietary life of single- and non single-person households in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods: A nationally representative sample of 20,421 19-64-year-olds who had 24-hour recall data was taken from the 2014-2016 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Single- and non single-persons were compared for nutrient intake, dietary behaviors, food consumption patterns, nutrition education and confirm nutrition label. Results: The dietary intakes of dietary fiber and iron were lower in single-person households than in non single-person households. The lower the level of education and income, the lower the nutrient intake of single-person households. In the case of those aged 19 to 29, the breakfast skipping rate was higher in single-person households than in non single-person households. The higher the education level, the higher the breakfast skipping rate and the eating out frequency in the single-person households. In the food intake survey, the frequency of healthy food intake in single-person households was much lower than that of non single-person households. The confirmation rate of nutrition labeling was lower in single-person households than in non single-person households. Conclusions: This study shows that single-person households have poorer health-nutritional behaviors than multi-person households. Therefore, a nutrition education program based on the data of this study needs to be developed for health promotion of single-person households.
In this study, the application of a medical compression sleeve of Moisture Responded Transformable(MRT) fibers to the treatment of lymphedema after surgery in breast cancer patients was investigated. MRT fibers were manufactured with PET and Nylon6 bi-component cross-section yarns, and compression sleeves of sleeves 1, 2, 3, and 4 were knitted in order of size, and then the physical properties and clinical tests were evaluated. As a result, the pressure of compression sleeve in wrinkle was the lowest in sleeve 1 with 3.81 kPa, and the highest in sleeve 4 with 5.22 kPa. Elastic recovery rate is that all parts except the top of the sleeve 1 exhibited 100%. The air permeability was good at 12.1 ~ 16.1 cm3/cm2/sec, and peeling was also comparatively excellent as grade 3. In addition, the weight of the compression sleeves 1, 2, and 3 decreased as 18.3 ~ 23.0 g/m2 depend on size, while the compared sample was heavier with 17.39 ~ 32.61 g/m2. In lymphoscintigraphy test, it was confirmed that the function of remaining lymph node was good in all patients. Although there were no differences between samples in skin irritation and tightness in wearing comfort, the manufactured sleeves showed better fit, lightness, fashion and breathability than the comparable sleeves.

We present a method to determine nitrogen abundance ratios with respect to iron ([N/Fe]) from molecular CN-band features observed in low-resolution (R ~ 2000) stellar spectra obtained by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST). Various tests are carried out to check the systematic and random errors of our technique, and the impact of signal-to-noise (S/N) ratios of stellar spectra on the determined [N/Fe]. We find that the uncertainty of our derived [N/Fe] is less than 0.3 dex for S/N ratios larger than 10 in the ranges Teff = [4000, 6000] K, log g = [0.0, 3.5], [Fe/H] = [-3.0, 0.0], [C/Fe] = [-1.0, +4.5], and [N/Fe] = [-1.0, +4.5], the parameter space that we are interested in to identify N-enhanced stars in the Galactic halo. A star-by-star comparison with a sample of stars with [N/Fe] estimates available from the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) also suggests a similar level of uncertainty in our measured [N/Fe], after removing its systematic error. Based on these results, we conclude that our method is able to reproduce [N/Fe] from low-resolution spectroscopic data, with an uncertainty sufficiently small to discover N-rich stars that presumably originated from disrupted Galactic globular clusters.
Tendon reinforced cemented soil is applied extensively in foundation stabilisation and improvement, especially in areas with soft clay. To solve the deterioration problem led by steel corrosion, the glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) tendon is introduced to substitute the traditional steel tendon. The interface bond strength between the cemented soil matrix and GFRP tendon demonstrates the outstanding mechanical property of this composite. However, the lack of research between the influence factors and bond strength hinders the application. To evaluate these factors, back propagation neural network (BPNN) is applied to predict the relationship between them and bond strength. Since adjusting BPNN parameters is time-consuming and laborious, the particle swarm optimisation (PSO) algorithm is proposed. This study evaluated the influence of water content, cement content, curing time, and slip distance on the bond performance of GFRP tendon-reinforced cemented soils (GTRCS). The results showed that the ultimate and residual bond strengths were both in positive proportion to cement content and negative to water content. The sample cured for 28 days with 30% water content and 50% cement content had the largest ultimate strength (3879.40 kPa). The PSO-BPNN model was tuned with 3 neurons in the input layer, 10 in the hidden layer, and 1 in the output layer. It showed outstanding performance on a large database comprising 405 testing results. Its higher correlation coefficient (0.908) and lower root-mean-square error (239.11 kPa) were obtained compared to multiple linear regression (MLR) and logistic regression (LR). In addition, a sensitivity analysis was applied to acquire the ranking of the input variables. The results illustrated that the cement content performed the strongest influence on bond strength, followed by the water content and slip displacement.

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate Raman spectroscopy technique as a noninvasive tool to predict meat quality traits on Braford longissimus thoracis et lumborum muscle. Methods: Thirty samples of muscle from Braford steers were analyzed by classical meat quality techniques and by Raman spectroscopy with 785 nm laser excitation. Water holding capacity (WHC), intramuscular fat content (IMF), cooking loss (CL), and texture profile analysis recording hardness, cohesiveness, and chewiness were determined, along with fiber diameter and sarcomere length by scanning electron microscopy. Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) analysis was used to differentiate tender and tough meat groups. Results: Higher values of cohesiveness and CL, together with lower values of WHC, IMF, and shorter sarcomere were obtained for tender meat samples than for the tougher ones. Raman spectra analysis allows tender and tough sample differentiation. The correlation between the quality attributes predicted by Raman and the physical measurements resulted in values of R2 = 0.69 for hardness and 0,58 for WBSF. Pearson's correlation coefficient of hardness (r = 0.84) and WBSF (r = 0.79) parameters with the phenylalanine Raman signal at 1,003 cm-1, suggests that the content of this amino acid could explain the differences between samples. Conclusion: Raman spectroscopy with 785 nm laser excitation is a suitable and accurate technique to identify beef with different quality attributes.
The general composition like moisture content, and the physical and sensory characteristics of the steamed rice cake added with powder of roots of balloonflowers were as follows. The moisture content in the roots was 4.13${\pm}$0.01%, crude protein 9.24${\pm}$0.11%, crude fat 3.07${\pm}$0.04%, crude fiber 33.82${\pm}$0.01%, and crude ash 8.16${\pm}$0.02%. The moisture content of the cake was decreased with increase of the root’s powder added. In physical characteristic, the hardness of the cake was increased with increase of the powder. The control cake was the highest in the cohesiveness. The springiness tended to be increased with increase of the powder. The gumminess was higher with increase of the powder, being 530.33% in the control and 284.44% in the sample with 12.0% powder added. The adhesiveness was decreased with increase of the powder. The color change was significantly decreased with increase of the powder. With increase of the powder, the value a was decreased, while the value b showed to be increased. In a sensory test, the favorite degree to color, flavor, bitter taste, moistness, soft-ness and overall acceptability was measured to get the follow result. To color, the lot with 6% of the balloonflower powder added showed the highest accept-ability with the same highest result also to flavor and bitter taste. The moistness and the softness were revealed as the highest at the control, and the chewiness was also highest at the lot with 3% of the powder added. The overall acceptability was highest as 5.75 at the lot with 6% of the powder added, coming out to be higher in order of the 3% added-lot, the control, the 9%-lot and the 12%-lot.
This study was to investigate physicochemical properties of Shinan seomcho growing in Jeollanamdo. The samples used were Shinan seomcho(Josaeng, Mansaeng varieties), Pohangcho(Josaeng, Mansaeng varieties), Namhaecho (Josaeng, Mansaeng varieties) and greenhouse spinach(Josaeng varieties). The results were as follows ; The thickness of spinach leaves were contained in order of Shinan seomcho > Pohangcho > Namhaecho > greenhouse spinach, and the hardness of those were contained in order of Pohangcho > Namhaecho > Shinan seomcho > greenhouse spinach. In Hunter's color value, L, a, b value in greenhouse spinach was lower than those of the others. Among the spinach varieties, Josaeng-jong(3.39~5.38 mg%) had the highest level of total dietary fiber contents than that of Mansaeng-jong(2.94~3.91 mg%). By regional groups, total dietary fiber were contained in order of Pohangcho > Namhaecho > Shinan seomcho > greenhouse spinach. The free sugar contents in the sample group, Shinan seomcho(4 varieties), Pohangcho(1 variety) and Namhaecho(2 varieties) were higher than those of other spinach varieties. The total sugar contents in the sample group, Shinan seomcho(3 varieties), Pohangcho(1 variety) and Namhaecho(2 varieties) were higher than those of other spinach varieties. Total flavonoid contents of Shinan seomcho(Josaeng-jong) and Namhaecho(Josaeng-jong) were lower than 130 mg%, but the other spinach had more than 130 mg% of total flavonoid contents. Germanium contents were detected in the following order ; Shinan seomcho(47.46 ${\mu}g$/kg) > Namhaecho(30.13 ${\mu}g$/kg) > Pohangcho(26.39 ${\mu}g$/kg) > greenhouse spinach(25.32 ${\mu}g$/kg).

This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of adding the microbial inoculants to silage for reducing mycotoxins in rice straw silage. When a single agent of L. plantarum and a mixed agent of L. plantarum and S. cerevisiae were added in rice straw silage contaminated mycotoxins, it had an effect on silage fermentation and fiber degradation as well as mycotoxin reduction. Among the mycotoxins, only ochratoxin A and zearalenone were found in the test sample. Ochratoxin A and zearalenone showed a decreasing trend with the addition of silage inoculants compared to the control groups (38.11±2.22 and 633.67±50.30 ㎍/kg), and there was a significant difference at the mixed agents; 27.78±2.28 and 392.72±25.04 ㎍/kg, respectively (p<0.05). The pH was lower in the single agent and the mixed agent compared to the control (p<0.05). The concentration of lactic acid was higher in the single agent (11.73±0.31 mM) than in the control group (8.18±0.93 mM), and the highest concentration was 16.01±0.88 mM in the mixed agent (p<0.05). Acetic acid and propionic acid were found to be significantly lowered with the addition of silage inoculants (p<0.05). Total VFA was also lower at the addition of silage inoculants than the control group (p<0.05). The rumen in situ dry matter degradation of NDF and ADF was maintained at the highest levels of the mixed agent during the culture period, followed by the single agent and the control group at the lowest level. NDF and ADF degradation showed a significant difference at all time points after 12 and 24 hours of culture, respectively (p<0.05). The study results showed that the silage inoculants had the positive effects on quality increasing of rice straw silage; fermentative charateristics, fiber degradation and mycotoxins reduction. Ochratoxin A and zearalenone were greater reduction by adding bacterial inoculants of silage. Therefore it is considered that L. plantarum and S. cerevisiae will improve the quality and stability with remediation of mycotoxin in silage.
