  • Covering an area of about 39 ha, Qingming Shanghe Park is located in the northwest of Kaifeng, formerly the capital of seven dynasties in China. It is intended to serve as a tourist attraction based on a painting 〃Qingming Festival at Riverside〃 by Zhang Zeduan of the Northern song Dynasty, which vividly illustrates a real life on the both sides of the Bian River as well as in the urban area, Kaifeng, in early Spring. The park is a collection of varied buildings such as shops, restaurants, tea-houses, theaters, and hotels in the North song style, with an introduction of the history of Kaifeng, this paper examines design philosophy and methodology of the park, and discusses the creative design of the first stage development known as known as The South Area of the park. Marked by the Rainbow Bridge and the City Gate, the South Area is divided into three parts, the rural, suburban, and urban parts which are organized according to the spatial order showed in the painting. The South Area proves to be very successful because of its amazing sense of history and interesting folk performance. Furthermore, the preliminary 9planning of the second stage development known as The North Area is presented with references to culture, history and customs. The North Area is proposed to include the Old Sports & Games Garden, the Exhibition Garden, and the Hot Spring Garden with an appearance of the imperial gardens in the Northern Song, integrated with participation of old sports and games, display of old science & technology achievements, and enjoyment of hot spring bath.

  • The decay of the Old Chinese Dynasty, Tang in the 10th century caused the collapse of the political order of Southeast Asia and the neighboring countries began to try to go their own way. Japan abolished the system called "Yudangsa" and nourished the culture of Japanese style. The fang age had a respect of the′Japanese Character Culture", in which when we expressed the sound, they developed the Japanese letters ,that is, reduced Chinese characters, and systematized them as linguistic symbols and developed them into one of letter design styles. The Japanese letters which was mainly the media of the expression of the female literature were delicately shaped ′as natural materials, which finally resulted in Japan′s oldest letter modeling, Asite Letter Design Style. The Japanese letters were blended with ′Reeds around the Lake", "Sea Birds", "Birds′flying", and "Rocks", mixed with the overall shapes of the objects and assimilated into one part, and became a means for the main entertainment of the nobility such as "Singing Festival", "Conference", and "Ceremonial Events" According to the relics, the Japanese feeling of a small cosmos was represented with the fabulous skills of artifacts. In audition, "Play Painting"in the countryside is also a kind of Asite the ordinary people accepted as wit and satire. What we will have to notice is about exchange of the Chinese letter designs, when the thought focused ′on the letter design, Jobcheso was popular. The letter design Jobcheso is -a kind of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea. "Hyojedo" in Korea is supposed to have been influenced by the letter design. Asite- is also considered to have been "Japanese Letter Jobcheso." Therefore, the purpose of this study is to look into the origin of the letter designs in the Chinese character culture circle, in terms of the letter design of Jobcheso.

The paper has examined the exhibition topics during the last 10 years and the plannings and contents to install the exhibition hall according the yearly topic and it has analyzed the comprehensive evaluations after the exhibition. The research scope is limited to the part related to the exhibition hall and facilities, which is including calculation of dimensions and layout, access and movement system, the appropriateness of the design and construction period, measure of applied technology appropriateness, post management as well as planning intent, estimation of the number of the visitors, preliminaries. With the results shown in the comprehensive evaluation and analysis, the paper has presented two issues, the one related to the procensure and preparation and the other related to the facilities. It is showed that both problems are due to the lack of expertise and it is necessary for the experts to participate from the first step of the procedure including planning for the successful exhibition. For the appropriate exhibition hall corresponding to the exhibition planning and scale, it is required to have the professional considerations of successful space and visitor's movement management, display environment, construction method, and post management. The study presents that architectural and interior design have to take an active part in constructing exhibition design in overall stage including the initial, practice, and evaluation stage.
