This study was conducted in 2002 and 2003 to investigate variation on rice quality associated with cooking, and eating qualities under the three different fertilizer levels, none fertilizer level($N-P_2O_{5-}K_2O=0-0-0kg/ha$), ordinary fertilizer level($N-P_2O_{5-}K_2O=1l0-45-57kg/ha$), and heavy fertilizer level($N-P_2O_{5-}K_2O=180-90-110kg/ha$). The eight resistant near-isogenic lines(NILs) for bacterial blight in rice were examined for grain appearances, several physicochemical properties, and palatability value measured by Toyo taste meter. Significant variations in NILs(V), Years(Y), and VxY interaction were recognized in grain length and palatability value under the none fertilizer cultivation, in grain width under the heavy fertilizer cultivation, and in white belly ratio under the three different fertilizer cultivations, respectively. According to increase the fertilizer application rate, variation in grain length and grain width were not significant, but grain thickness was thinner under the ordinary and heavy fertilizer cultivations than under the none fertilizer cultivation. On the other hand, white belly ratio, protein content and Mg/K ratio increased, while amylose content and palatability value lowered. Alkali spreading value lowed under the heavy fertilizer cultivation than under the none and ordinary fertilizer cultivations. Palatability value was significantly low in the line carrying XalJ than in the other lines under the ordinary fertilizer cultivations.
This study was conducted to elucidate the leaf characteristics, leaf number and fertilizing level in perilla, Perilla frutescens, which was cultivated using five types organic compost with three level. Number of the harvested leaves was effective in Heulgnara with 800 kg/10 and Poongjag with 1200 kg/10 at 70 days and organic compost were the highest in Sarang followed by Heulgnara and Poongjag in order. Number of leaf harvested during the fifth times was the highest Poongjag followed by Heulgnara and Sarang in order. Leaf length and leaf width were the highest in Poongjag with 1200 kg/10 a at 70 days. Simple method for calculation of fertilizer level was N 6.09 kg and slaked lime 36.56 kg in Heulgnara 100 kg per 10 a. Recommendation level of chemical fertilizer in Heulgnara due to fertilizer method was N 275.10 kg, P 4.3 kg and K 10 kg per 10 a.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer level on forage yield and feed value, and to clarify the optimum nitrogen fertilizer level of rye in middle west area when cultured in paddy field. The field experiment treated 5 levels of nitrogen fertilization was carried out at Yesan from Oct. 1990 to June 1991. The fresh and dry weight increased with increased nitrogen fertilizer level by 30kg /10a, but dry matter ratio decreased. The ratio of leaf blade and leaf sheath in rye plant increased with increased nitrogen fertilizer level, but the ratio of stem and inflorescence decreased. The content and yield per unit area for protein, total digestible nutrient(TDN). Minerals, and energy increased with increased nitrogen fertilizer level, while acid detergent fiber(ADF) and neutral detergent fiber(NDF) decreased. The ratio of available protein among crude protein became higher with increased nitrogen fertilizer level. The optimum clipping time for net energy gain(NEG) and net energy maintenance(NEM) were 10 days earlier than milk stage for conventional items including TDN and proteins.
This study was conducted to select the most suitable fertilizer level on nursery of mat rush for good quality and high yield. $N-P_{2}O_{5}-K_{2}O=60-30-60$ (kg/10a), fertilizer level on nursery of mat rush showed relatively superior values for all yield components and quality with 57g in fresh weight, 12g in dry weight, 23% in air drying ratio for per plant at the nursery and 125cm in stem length, 150 numbers in stem number, 4,082kg/10a in fresh stem yield, 345kg/10a in long stem yield, 996kg/10a in medium stem yield, 1,421kg/l0a in total stem yield, 34% in dry stem ratio and 30% in long stem ratio at the main paddy field. The results indicate that fertilizer level, $N-P_{2}O_{5}-K_{2}O=60-30-60kg/10a$ in nursery shows different adaptabilities to a particular fertilizer level and 60-30-60 (kg/10a) seems to be the most suitable fertilizer level of mat rush for good quality and high yield.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of cutting frequency and level of fertilizer application on the botanical composition and forage yield of alpine pasture. Field experiment was established at 600 m (a.s.1) altitude with two cutting frequency schedules (two and three times annually) and two levels of fertilizer application (lower level of fertilizer, 200-200-200 kg / ha and standard level of fertilizer, 280-200-240 kg / ha; N, $P_2O_5$ and $K_2O$, respectively). Higher grass to clover ratio was observed in two cutting frequencies. The clover ratio was highest as $16\%$ in thee cutting frequencies with lower level of fertilizer application End the ratio of weed was low in all treatments ($3.7 {\~} 6.7\%$). No significant difference was observed in forage dry matter (DM) yield among treatments, however forage DM yield in three cutting frequencies tended to be greater in standard level of fertilizer application compared to lower level of fertilizer application. The forage quality was greater in three cutting frequencies, but not changed with different levels of fertilizer application. This result indicates that three cutting frequency and standard level of fertilizer application system are considered to be proper management methods at alpine grassland of 600 m altitude considering the botanical composition, forage DM yield md forage quality.
24 cultivation areas at fields of the Tobacco Experiment Station in Suweon, Eumseong, and Daegu were selected to get the fertilizer response and evaluate fertility level of upland soil. Fertilizer levels treated were 0, 70, 100, and 130kg/10a of compound fertilizer (10-10-20) for tobacco. The results are as follows; 1. Fertility level could be evaluated by dry weight of tobacco loaves harvested from non-fertilized fields. 2. There was significant in yield differences between fertilizer levels of 70 and 100kg/10a but was no difference between 100 and 130kg/10a of fertilizer level. The lower fertilizer efficiencies were showed at the fields harvested high yield of tobacco leaf without fertilizer. 3. Optimum fertilizer level for non-fertilized field with leaf yield less than 208.5kg/10a was 100kg/10a, and at low productive field with dry leaf weight less than 33.3kg/10a, higher level of fertilizer, 130kg/10a, was considered to be the optimum to get the got income with tobacco cultivation.
To investigate the factors of the improvement of cultivation methods according to the plant type, three Burley tobacco cultivars were done. Experiments on the variability of plant type and factors representing the productivity and quality of the cultivar were subsequently carried out in relation to different fertilizer levels. Results are summarized as below. Use of more fertilizer resulted in higher plant height and longer leaf length but smaller mean leaf inclination(MLI). The horizontal leaf area distribution became greater in parts distal to the stem and the vertical leaf area distribution became greater in lower half than in upper half as the amount of fertilizer applied was increased. Br. 49 was the largest but Br. 21 and NTN 77 were similar with respect to both CGR and NAR. The yield was greater in larger MLI cultivars. These three characteristics became greater when the tobacco were heavier in the cultivars of larger MLI and increased with higher amount of fertilizer. Harvest index became greater as the amount of fertilizer decreased but not significantly differ among the cultivars. Total nitrogen content and nitrate - form nitrogen content were greater, more amount of fertilizer, and larger MLI cultivar plots. Total nitrogen content was higher in upper leaves. The filling power of tobacco leaves decreased but combustibility of leaves showed not significant trend as fertilizer application level increased.

To evaluate the effect of liquid pig manure application, the growth and yield of rice and the quality of infiltration water were investigated with application of different amounts of liquid manure. At this study, liquid pig manure was treated with 100, 200, 300 and 400% of recommending nitrogen fertilizer level, respectively. Liquid manure with application rate more than 200% of recommending N fertilizer level (11kg) caused to increase of plant height and number of tiller at panicle formation stage, but it caused the plant disease and pest and plant lodging. In those treatment, number of panicles per hill and number of spikelets per panicle were increased, but yield of rice was less than chemical fertilizer treatment due to low rate of ripeness and 1,000 grain weight. $NO_3-N$ concentration in infiltration water sample collected at 90 cm of soil depth was increased with increasing application amount of liquid manure. With liquid manure application more than 200% of recommending N fertilizer level, it affected negatively on yield and environment such as groundwater quality.
To find out the optimum fertilizer level for high yielding variety, Velox, experiment was conducted with 15 compositions of fertilizer levels at the experiment field of forage crop in Sunchon National University from Mar. 2000 to Aug. 2000. The effects of nitrogen fertilizer on plant growth were significant but increasing rate of application in potassium and phosphate fertilizers above 6 kg/a had negligible effects on plant growth. The optimum nitrogen application level of fertilizers turned out to be 16-6-6 kg/l0a of N-P$_2$O$_{5}$-K$_{5}$O. Content of crude protein was highest and that of crude fiber such as NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin were lowest at this rate of fertilizer application. Furthermore, IVDMD was high and dry matter yield were highest at the optimum raterate

Crop yields depend on the limiting factor of crop growth; Liebig law of minimum. Identifying the kind and the necessary amount of the limiting factor is essential to increase crop yield. Although nitrogen is the most essential nutrient, N application does not always bring about yield increases when other elements are limiting in rice cultivation. Two experiments were compared to elucidate the effect of soil testing on rice yield response to N level. The one was an experiment about yield response of 3 rice cultivars to 7 levels of N application, which was conducted from 2003 to 2004 in 25 farmer's fields without ameliorating soil conditions by soil testing and the other was a demonstration experiment on N fertilizer recommendation equation by 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 times of N recommended level in 5 soil types from 30 fields after ameliorating soil conditions by soil testing. The N response patterns of the experiments conducted without soil testing showed a Mitscherlich pattern in some cultivars and soil types, but did not in the others. The N response patterns of the demonstration experiment showed a Mitscherlich pattern in all soil types. Because these results indicated that N was the minimum nutrient in the demonstration experiment by ameliorating soil conditions with soil testing, but not in the other experiment without soil testing, the supply of minimum nutrients by soil testing could increase the efficiency of N-fertilization.
