  • The RF inductive discharge of inductively couples plasma (ICP) continues to attract growing attention as an effective plasma source in many industrial applications, the best known of which are plasma processing and lighting technology. Although most practical ICPs operate at 13.56 [MHz] and 2.65 [MHz], the trend to reduce the operating frequency is clearly recognizable from recent ICP developments. in and electrodeless fluorescent lamp, the use of a lower operating frequency simplifies and reduces cost of RF matching systems and RF generators and can eliminate capacitive coupling between the inductor coil and plasma, which could be a strong factor in wall erosion and plasma contamination. In this study, electric and optical characteristics of electrodeless fluorescent lamp by changing ferrite position is discussed.

  • In this study, A equipment for measuring the initial permeability of soft-ferrite powder was developed by using a differential transformer coil, and was investigated demagnetizing factors. To measure the initial permeability of magnetic ceramic powder is cumbersome since there are not any measuring equipment and method. Magnetic powder is currently used for a magnetic fluid and microwave absorber materials, and the initial permeability of the magnetic powder is very important to be evaluated a powder for some applications.

  • In this paper, we study in magnetizing the NdFeB magnet which is inserted in a squirrel cage rotor. The inserted NdFeB magnet need much more magnetizing flux than that of ferrite magnet. Also the eddy current flowing in rotor bar disturbs the magnetizer in magnetizing the NdFeB magnet. The existing magnetizing yoke is designed by increasing the coil turn. But we recognize that only by increasing the coil turn it is impossible to make NdFeB magnet magnetized fully. Hence, in this paper we propose the method of increasing magnetizing flux by reducing the rotor bar area.

  • For broadband high-data-rate power line communication with the allocated frequency bandwidth from 2 to 30 MHz on medium voltage (MV) distribution power lines, a signal coupling unit is developed. The coupling unit is composed of a coupling capacitor for coupling communication signal, a drain coil, and an impedance matching part. The coupling capacitor made of ceramic capacitor is designed for transmission property of better than 1 dB in the frequency range. The drain coil is used for preventing low frequency high voltage from junction of medium voltage power line in case that a coupling capacitor is not working properly any more. Also, using ferrite core, a novel broadband impedance matching transformer is developed. A complete coupling unit with a coupling capacitor, a drain coil, and a matching transformer is housed by polymer for good isolation and distinguishing from high voltage electric facilities. Each is fabricated and its frequency behavior is tested. Finally, complete signal couplers are equipped in a MV PLC test bed and their performance are measured. The measurement shows that the coupling capacitor works excellently.

  • In this study, we propose a spherical flux concentration structure for omnidirectional wireless power transfer. Omnidirectional wireless power transfer technology is a method that can transmit power to a transmitter located in an arbitrary position in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional space. However, to improve the power transfer distance in a wireless power transfer system, the diameter of the coil or the number of windings must increase, thereby increasing the size of the transmitter. The proposed transmitter structure adds a ferrite core inside the transmitter coil so that the magnetic flux generated by the transmitter is directed toward the position of the receiver. As a result, the flux linkage and the mutual inductance increase. By implementing the omnidirectional wireless power transfer system using the proposed structure, the power transfer distance can be improved by 65% compared with the conventional system without increasing the size of the transmitter. Simulation shows that the proposed spherical flux concentration structure increases the mutual inductance of the omnidirectional wireless power transmission system.

  • Recently, the RF inductive discharge or inductively coupled plasma (ICP) continues to attract growing attention as an effective plasma source in many industrial applications, the best known of which are plasma processing and lighting technology. To the point of lighting sources, the electrodeless fluorescent lamps utilizing an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) have been objects of interest and research during the last decades, mainly because of their potential for extremely long life, high lamp efficacies, rapid power switching response. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp that is dealt with in this work comprises a bulb filled with rare gas and amalgam of vaporizable metal and has a coil provided with a winding around the ferrite. Current through a coil produces a magnetic field in the discharge space. The changing magnetic flux then produces an azimuthal electric field E around the coil, according to Faraday's laws of magnetic induction.

  • In this paper, a planar vibratory gyroscope is designed and fabricated in macro model. Elementary experiment and test are done for micro model. This gyroscope has a double gimbal structure with an active dimension $80{\times}120{\times}1\;mm^3$. Outer gimbal vibration is generated by electromagnetic force using ferrite E-core wounded by coil. Inner gimbal vibration is detected by inductive sensor. It is demonstrated' that mechanical and electrical symmetries are important for improvement of vibratory gyroscope.

  • Recently, the number of systems which utilize wireless power transmission to a receiving module in a short distance is increasing. For efficient use of receiving space, coils are wound around the ferrite core to produce electromotive force(emf) in suppling power by wireless transmission. This paper analyzed the magnetic flux density distribution in the ferrite core in magnetic field environment which is uniformly oriented along to a single axis at 125kHz. For numerical analysis, Ansoft Maxwell which is applying the FEM(Finite Element Method) method was used. We studied the variations of the gathered magnetic fluxes to the changes of the relative permeabilities of the ferrite cores. Also we calculated the magnetic flux variation by shaving the ferrite core off for the groove of coil winding. Results showed that using a small ferrite core in magnetic field at 100kHz band can increase the amount of magnetic flux $3{\sim}4 times$ than without the core. The magnetic flux decreased 23% by shaving the core 0.5 mm on the periphery of 4.75 mm radius core with the relative permeability 800.

  • In this paper, we implemented and analyzed a wireless power transfer (WPT) system with a CSPR topology. CSPR refers to constant current source, series resonance circuit topology of a transmitting coil, parallel resonance circuit topology of a receiving coil, and pure resistive loading. The transmitting coil is coupled by a magnetic field to the receiving coil without wire. Although the electromotive force (emf) is small (about 4.5V), the voltage on load resistor is 148V, because a parallel resonance scheme was adopted for the receiving coil. The implemented WPT system is designed to be able to transfer up to 1 kW power and can operate a LED TV. Before the implementation, the EMF reduction mechanism based on the use of ferrite and a metal shield box was confirmed by an EM simulation and we found that the EMF can be suppressed dramatically by using this shield. The operating frequency of the implemented WPT system is 30.7kHz and the air gap between two coils is 150mm. The power transferred to the load resistor is 147W and the real power transfer efficiency is 66.4 %.
