Purpose: This study investigated the predictors of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) among female teenagers in Korea who have had intercourse at least once. Methods: This study is based on the 12th Korea Youth Behavior Web-based Survey conducted in April 2016. Data were collected from 798 middle schools and high schools nationwide in Korea and 65,528 students participated. Among the participants, the subjects of this study were 537 female high school students (Grade 10~12). The data were analyzed through complex samples multiple logistic regression using SPSS statistics 22. Results: Among the 537 female adolescents, 11.9% replied they had experienced STI. The predictors of STI among the subjects were 'age at first intercourse' and 'sexual intercourse after drinking'. The risk of STI was lower in the middle (OR=0.26, 95% CI=0.10~0.64) and high school (OR=0.11, 95% CI=0.04~0.27) age groups than those who had their first sexual intercourse at an elementary school age. The sexual intercourse after drinking group had a higher risk of STI, compared to the no sexual relation after drinking group (OR=2.54, 95% CI=1.28~5.07). Conclusion: Practical sex education programs should begin from the elementary stage in order to protect more female adolescents from STI. In addition, sex education including an alcohol prevention program should be considered to lower STI among female adolescents.
How does the youth feel the sea affairs\ulcorner Concerning this question, this paper aims to measure the images of the youth toward the sea affairs - the sea, the ship and the seafarer and to examined the above subject. As sample 3, 250 students of middle and high school were selected by considering geographical environment. The data obtained using Semantic Differential Method were analyzed by principal component analysis, and the obtained factor scores were examined the significance of difference between sex, age and geographical environment. By introducing the principal component analysis, the authors extracted from each of the images, that is, factors of dynamics and affection to the image on these a and the former the factors and pleasure on the ship, and also the former two factors and factor of professional evaluation on the seafarer, The following results are obtained. 1) In the image of the sea, dynamic image of the student in high school were higher than the of the student in middle school in spite of geographic environment and affective image were opposite. 2) In the images of the ship, affective image of the student in middle school and high school in inland were high than the of the male and female student in near the sea. And also, male female students in middle school and male student s in high school of inland showed the highest score to the pleasure image. 3) In the image of the seafare, professional evaluation of the female student in middle school were higher than the others, but the students in high school showed the highest score to dynamic image. Especially, in the case of the majority of students in high school living in the city or town near the, their images of the seafarer were not so good in spite of their explorative experiences about the sea affairs.
This study investigated different individual, family, friend and school variables that affect adolescents' deviant behaviors. The sample consisted of 897 eleventh grade adolescents. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, two-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical regression. The major results were as follows. Male and female students' deviant behaviors had a positive correlation with sensation seeking traits, deviant behaviors by peer groups, school maladjustment, and maltreatment-experiences from parents, but a negative correlation with communications with parents. In female students', deviant behaviors had a negative correlation with self-esteem. The important variables predicting deviant behaviors were deviant behaviors of peer groups, sensation seeking traits, emotional maltreatment-experience, kind of high-school and school maladjustment for male students, compared to deviant behaviors of peer groups, kind of high-school, sensation seeking traits and school maladjustment for female students'.

This study intended to identify regional and gender differences between high school students groups in clothing-wearing motives, casual brand preference and actual purchasing condition. Using a $2{\times}2$ sampling frame, 100 responses were collected for each regional and gender group: male students in Seoul, females in Seoul, males in Gumi, and females in Gumi. In terms of clothing-wearing motives, Gumi students and female students showed more highly extroverted motives than males and Seoul students, respectively. And three groups were determined on the basis of clothing-wearing motives: the extroversion group, the introversion group, and the least clothing-cognizing group. Concerning the brand preference factor, female students showed more dispersed brand preference than males. Adidas and Puma were preferred by all 4 groups. Polo and Guess were preferred by Seoul students, and Clide, Banila B, and TBJ were preferred by female students. The determinants of brand preference were identified as quality, reliability, affirmative image, and some brand personas such as 'neat', 'natural' and 'polished'. The students from Seoul tend to pay more money for clothing than those from Gumi, and Seoul students' main purchasing place was identified as department store while Gumi students shop more at brand chain stores.
The questionnaires answered by 832 college students were analyzed for nutrition knowledge, food habits, and the sources of nutrition information. The students had a high level of perceived knowledge(88%), that is the knowledge that each subject believed he had, but the accuracy of the knowledge was only 55%. The mean score of nutrition knowledge was 7.20 out of possible 15.0 points and the mean food habit score was only 3.90 out of possible 10.0 points. And 59% of the subjects belonged 'poor food habit' group. The female subjects showed higher scores than male students in the perceived knowledge, the accuracy of the knowledge, the mean nutrition knowledge score, and the food habit score. There was a high correlation between nutrition knowledge score and food habit score of the subjects. The male students ranked mass media, high school courses, and parents as their primary sources of nutritional information, while 78% of female subjects ranked high school courses as their first choice of nutritional information.
Purpose : This study investigated the relationship between body type, subjective symptoms and health awareness in female high school students Methods : The subjects were 393 students at the female high school in Taejon City by self-recorded questionnaires in May, 2006. Results : In the classification of body type based on the degree of obesity, low weight group was 20.9%, normal weight group was 58.0%, over weight group was 11.7% and obesity group was 9.4%. In the level of body type wareness, those who consider themselves to be obesity type 13.7%, standard type were 43.8%, and leptosomic type 8.1%, but there was a clear tendency to be leptosomic type that the rate was 76.3%. In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms, “fatigue” was the highest, followed by “neck pain(stiffness)”, “dizziness”, “stomachache” in the descending order. In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms by the degree of obesity, dizziness, irregular menstruation and anorexia were higher according to the lower obesity, but constipation and wearied eyes were the higher the more obesity. Conclusion : The study results showed that the recent female high school students were clear tendency to be leptosomic type, and leptosomic and obesity type were related with subjective symptoms. Considering these findings, it appeared that being excessively thin is related to symptoms and young women's thinness-oriented attitudes are unhealthful.
This study was performed to compare dietary behaviors based on residence types of female college students. Self reports on dietary behavior and one-day dietary records were obtained from 227 female college students using anonymous questionnaires. The mean age of the subjects was $20.4{\pm}1.43$, and the height and weight were $162.5{\pm}4.8cm$ and $52.3{\pm}7.9kg$, respectively, The dietary behavior of female college students was inadequate, showing indifference to dietary balance, irregularity of meals, skipping breakfast, and high experience of drinking. One-day dietary records were obtained from 24k recall methods also showed a high number registering skipped meal status ($55.3\%$) and less diverse food intake (DVS, 12.5; DDS, 3.93). The students in self boarding residence were especially more likely not to eat properly and their dietary behaviors were found to be significantly poor. In the case of home residence, food intake frequency scores for milk and dairy products, fruits, and fishes were significantly higher, however the students in self boarding residences showed high food intake frequency scores in salted food, retort food, canned food, and especially instant ramyun. Therefore, more attention needs to be given to them to recognize the problems in their own dietary behaviors and more practical nutritional supports, like developing a menu for breakfast in college cafeterias, would be helpful to improve their dietary choices.
This study was an investigation of obesity, food habits and daily nutrient intakes of the 4th grade elementary school students in daejeon. A total of 148 children(male:71, female:77) participated in the study. We classified the subjects into normal group and obese group according to the grade of obesity indices by body fat ratio(BFR), 70% of the male and 31% of the female were obese group. The average height, weight were $140.1{\pm}4.9cm$, $33.0{\pm}3.6kg$(obese group), $141.9{\pm}5.7cm$, $42.0{\pm}3.6kg$(normal group) for the male, $141.2{\pm}6.4cm$, $42.4{\pm}6.2kg$(obese group), $139.5{\pm}6.4cm$, $33.0{\pm}4.5kg$(normal group) for the female. Weight showed a noticeable increase in the obese group, but height was not statistically significant. In dietary habits, it wasn't statistically significant but male obese group showed statistically increase in terms of eating fast(p>0.05) and eating snacks before sleeping(p>0.01) and female obese group was higher in frequency of eating out a month than normal group. Energy intakes of obese group was more than normal group and the average intakes of Vit. A, folic acid, Ca, were below the RI. The average intakes of vit A, vit C, folic acid, Ca, were also below the RI in normal group. The average intakes of vit A, folic acid, Ca, Fe were below the RI in female. Especially in female the intake of Ca was only 53.6%(obese group), 56.4%(normal group) of RI. From these results, we knew prevalence of obesity in elementary school students were high and obese groups were high in energy intakes but low in essential nutrients. Therefore we have to try to prevent and treat childhood obesity. So nutrition education of balanced diet and good dietary habits is needed for elementary school students.

This study aimed to examine the association between sleep duration, stress levels, and dietary behavior in adolescents. A survey was conducted on 453 students (227 male, 226 female) in high schools in the Chungbuk area. The participants were divided into groups based on daily sleep duration: group I (<5 hrs/d), group II (≥5 hrs/d and <6 hrs/d), group III (≥6 hrs/d and <7 hrs/d), and group IV (≥7 hrs/d). To measure the stress levels of participants, the survey had questions covering a variety of areas, including school life, family life, social relationships, and personal evaluation. To assess the dietary behaviors of participants, the survey included questions encompassing the Nutrition Quotient for Korean adolescents (NQ-A). Among female students, the sleep duration group IV had significantly lower total stress (P=0.022) and significantly lower stress in the personal evaluation area than the sleep duration group I (P=0.004). In the analysis of NQ-A, among female students, the sleep duration group IV showed significantly higher scores in balance (P=0.004), diversity (P=0.016), and total NQ-A score area (P=0.007) compared to other groups. There was a significant negative correlation between sleep duration and stress scores in total students (r=-0.24, P<0.001), while a significant positive correlation was seen between sleep duration and NQ-A scores in female students (r=0.16, P<0.05). To sum up, the longer the sleep duration, the lower the degree of stress, and the quality of meals which can be said to be a significant finding for high school students.
This study was investigated seafoods provided by school food service and students' preferences for and perceptions of seafoods. The subjects were 275 second grade(age 14-16) students of 4 middle schools in Gyeongnam. The results were as follows. The most main seafoods intake place was 'home'(65.8%). Male students ate seafoods more than female students did(p<.001). In seafoods providing frequency, '2~3 times a week' took 74.5%, '4~5 times a week' took higher ratio in males' schools, while '0~1 times a week' took higher ratio in females'(p<.05). In perceptions of seafoods, most subjects had positive perceptions as 'good for health'(3.95), 'various kinds'(3.75) except 'good peculiar smell' got smallest point(2.85). In means of learning about seafoods names, 'by looking at everyday menu' took 64.6%. In taking nutrition education, 'no nutrition education' took 69.5%. In preferences for seafoods using 5-point scale, males' preferences were higher than females'(p<.001). 48.1% of males got higher than 4 point, while 14.1% of females did. In improvement measures of seafoods, 'provide various kinds'(47.3%) took highest ratio. In preferences for seafoods by seafoods kinds, preference for 'crustacean' was highest while preferences for 'shell fish' and 'fish' were relatively low. Both male and female students highly preferred laver, shrimp, swimming crab, small octopus, fish cake and tuna canned goods. Male students' preferences were higher than female students' for most kinds of seafoods. In preferences for seafoods by cooking methods, preferences for 'grilled', 'stir fried', 'pan fried' were relatively high, 'braised', 'deep fried', 'steamed' were relatively low. Males' preferences were higher than females' for every cooking method except 'steamed'.
