A Study on the Feeder Transit Route Design System (대중교통 지선노선 선정기법에 관한 연구)

  • The bus as a feeder trip should supply equality service to the whole community. But in spite of the change of latent demand to the bus by the variety of regional structural change, the existing bus route can not supply effective feeder service. For cope with the latent demand to the bus, this study establish a concept that frame the feeder bus route design system for changing of the existing bus route or creating of bus route. The concept of feeder bus route design system from this study is not to frame the whole bus network but to frame the single route to a unit OD pair. So, this study have assumption that do not consider the wating time at bus stop and transfer time. This system is consist of three phase. First is limitation of examination road network, second is enumeration of a most suitable route, and final is determination of the optimum bus route. However, a precondition is that the necessary time from the origin to the destination is brief, and having many demand.

  • In the case of the feeder bus route choice, it is more desirable to choose the route by treating as a single route linked from origin to destination than the whole network. This study is to establish a concept that frames the feeder bus route choice technique for the change of the existing single bus route or the creation of the new feeder bus route. The concept of the feeder bus route choice technique in this study is not to frame the whole bus network but to frame a single route to a unit O-D pair. So, this study has the assumption that does not consider the waiting and transfer time at the bus stop. This system technique consists of the following phases: I) limitation of the road network examined for the study, ii) enumeration of the appropriate candidate routes by the permissive route length, and iii) determination of the optimum bus route by the route evaluation value.

  • Bus, Which is together with subway the main part of public transportation modes in the city, is reviewed for the development of an optimal feeder-bus service area. Based on the IDRISI of GIS package, and taking into account of the convenience of downtown-oriented public transportation users at peak time, a model for the development of feeder-bus service area and a solution and introduced. Major result in this study is as follows: Development is given to a model that is designed to overcome the shortage of the existing models, which has limits in simulating the real situation; Variables were used in combination so that bus and subway route, station spacing, and operating frequency can be determined simultaneously, which enables to elucidate the mutual relationship and the structure in public transportation system. A model for feeder-bus area development is also given applied to determination and opening of subway and urban express bus route and new transportation systems. The model developed in this paper is useful in the case of extension and opening of subway and urban express bus route and new transportation Systems.

  • This paper analyses the power flow of a three-feeder/multi-bus distribution system by a custom Generalized Power Quality Conditioner (GUPQC). The GUPQC has been realized by three voltage source converters (VSCs) coupled back-to-back through a common DC-link capacitor on the DC-side. One feeder was controlled by the shunt compensator, whereas each of the other two feeders was controlled by the proposed novel series compensator. The GUPQC has the capability to simultaneously compensate voltage and current quality problems of a multi-bus/three-feeder distribution system. Besides that, the power can be transferred from one feeder to other feeders to compensate for poor power quality problems. Extensive simulation studies were carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software to establish the ability of the GUPQC to improve power quality of the distribution systems under distorted supply voltage conditions.

A Study on the Bus Operation and the Strategy for Bus Transport Improvement (버스운행관리 및 수송전략에 관한 연구)

This study tackled to evidence this fact by analyzing the bus transport problems in terms of the urban growth, and following issues were discussed: 1) the strategy for improvement of bus operation, 2) the land use control which is appropriate for the public transport network, 3) the economical range to justify the bus operation, 4) the allowance for the private transport mode. On the second part of this study, the difference on the bus operation was compared to determine the range within which the bus operation can be justified. This would provide the direction to improve the management for bus operation and fundamental information to develop the bus operation system.

  • The bus should supply an equal service to the whole community as feeder trip. Equity Analysis of Feeder Bus Routes in Seoul using DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) Model (DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) 모형을 이용한 서울시 지선버스노선의 형평성 분석)

  • This study discusses an equity analysis performed to supplement the existing bus service evaluation system. The equity of 179 feeder bus routes in the city of Seoul(Year 2009) is analyzed by employing the modified BCC model along with the desirable inputs such as a number of bus stops and a frequency of operations. In the analysis, each DMU (Decision Making Unit) is assumed to use the desirable inputs, and produces both the index of equity and the index of accessibility. We apply an input-oriented modified BCC model to analyze the equity of the DMUs. The computational result indicates that only 9% of the feeder bus routes are equitable among the total DMUs and the average equity estimate is 0.702. It is also suggested that on average approximately 60% increases of desirable inputs (i.e., a number of bus stops and a frequency of operations) are needed in order to improve equity of DMU in the city of Seoul. The result of the tobit regression analysis on the determinant factors affecting the equity of DMUs shows that all the independent variables (i.e., a number of bus stops and a frequency of operations) are statistically significant at 5% significance level, and the number of bus stops is found to be the most influential factor.

  • This paper proposes the identification method for the faulted feeder, where it identify whether the faulted feeder is the DG-connected feeder or the neighboring feeder (but sharing the same bus of the substation). In general, DG has to be disconnected from the grid when the fault occurs on the interconnected distribution feeder as soon as possible. However, the faults occured on the neghboring feeder would mistakenly cause the disconnection of the DG. For reliable operation of DG, DG should be sustained at the fault occurred on neighboring distribution feeders. The proposed identification method utilizes the impedance monitored from the DG and examines the coordination of overcurrent relay of the distribution system. This paper describes how the proposed method to identify the faulted feeder and how the method can be utilized.

An feeder Automation System Using Active Database (능동 데이터베이스 이용한 배전선로 운전자동화)

  • This paper presents active management of feeder automation systems using active database. DAS(Distribution Automation System) has been managed for feeder automation in passive manner. Therefore, feeder automation system has to be managed by operator when feeder overloadings is detected. It may be possible for propagating the feeder overloadings area by operator's mistake. To overcome this defect, the author proposed the feeder automation technique with active manner to obtain feasible feeder reconfiguration. Active database can manage feeder automation system by data driven monitoring of events and by corresponding actions without operator's intervening. To manage feeder automation system with active manner, production rule, active rule manager are designed. And active database system architecture for feeder automation system is proposed. Test results on the KEPCO's 108 bus distribution system show that the performance is efficient and robust.

Comparative Analysis of Urban Public Transportation Systems with Emphasis on Subway-Feeder Bus System

  • This paper attempts to develop a method which combines a subway system with a feeder bus system in order to increase the efficiency of the performance of the subway system. The 'feasible region' where a subway system is more desirable than a conventional bus in its travel time far the CBD-bound trip is determined and the service-specification models of the two systems in this region have been formulated and analyzed in an aggregate manner. The model developed in this study is applied to the Subway Line No. 1 in Seoul. The result obtained in the analysis indicates that the combined system can be guaranteed as a desirable mode in the point of travel time and cost within the feasible region. The concept of the model will lead to a proper assessment of the system's potentials for the choice of an optimal combination of the existing transport technologies.
