A New Approach for Hierarchical Dividing to Passenger Nodes in Passenger Dedicated Line

  • China possesses a passenger dedicated line system of large scale, passenger flow intensity with uneven distribution, and passenger nodes with complicated relations. Consequently, the significance of passenger nodes shall be considered and the dissimilarity of passenger nodes shall be analyzed in compiling passenger train operation and conducting transportation allocation. For this purpose, the passenger nodes need to be hierarchically divided. Targeting at problems such as hierarchical dividing process vulnerable to subjective factors and local optimum in the current research, we propose a clustering approach based on self-organizing map (SOM) and k-means, and then, harnessing the new approach, hierarchical dividing of passenger dedicated line passenger nodes is effectuated. Specifically, objective passenger nodes parameters are selected and SOM is used to give a preliminary passenger nodes clustering firstly; secondly, Davies-Bouldin index is used to determine the number of clusters of the passenger nodes; and thirdly, k-means is used to conduct accurate clustering, thus getting the hierarchical dividing of passenger nodes. Through example analysis, the feasibility and rationality of the algorithm was proved.

Numerical Study on Performance of Horizontal Axis (Propeller) Tidal Turbine

  • The aim of this paper is to numerically explore the feasibility of designing a Mini-Hydro turbine. The interest for this kind of horizontal axis turbine relies on its versatility. For instance, in the field of renewable energy, this kind of turbine may be considered for different applications, such as: tidal power, run-of-the-river hydroelectricity, wave energy conversion. It is fundamental to improve the turbine performance and to decrease the equipment costs for achievement of "environmental friendly" solutions and maximization of the "cost-advantage". In the present work, the commercial CFD code ANSYS is used to perform 3D simulations, solving the incompressible Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (U-RANS) equations discretized by means of a finite volume approach. The implicit segregated version of the solver is employed. The pressure-velocity coupling is achieved by means of the SIMPLE algorithm. The convective terms are discretized using a second order accurate upwind scheme, and pressure and viscous terms are discretized by a second-order-accurate centered scheme. A second order implicit time formulation is also used. Turbulence closure is provided by the realizable k - turbulence model. In this study, a mini hydro turbine (3kW) has been considered for utilization of horizontal axis impeller. The turbine performance and flow behavior have been evaluated by means of numerical simulations. Moreover, the performance of the impeller varied in the pressure distribution, torque, rotational speed and power generated by the different number of blades and angles. The model has been validated, comparing numerical results with available experimental data.

A hybrid algorithm for classifying rock joints based on improved artificial bee colony and fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm

  • This study presents a hybrid algorithm for classifying the rock joints, where the improved artificial bee colony (IABC) and the fuzzy C-means (FCM) clustering algorithms are incorporated to take advantage of the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm by tuning the FCM clustering algorithm to obtain the more reasonable and stable result. A coefficient is proposed to reduce the amount of blind random searches and speed up convergence, thus achieving the goals of optimizing and improving the ABC algorithm. The results from the IABC algorithm are used as initial parameters in FCM to avoid falling to the local optimum in the local search, thus obtaining stable classifying results. Two validity indices are adopted to verify the rationality and practicability of the IABC-FCM algorithm in classifying the rock joints, and the optimal amount of joint sets is obtained based on the two validity indices. Two illustrative examples, i.e., the simulated rock joints data and the field-survey rock joints data, are used in the verification to check the feasibility and practicability in rock engineering for the proposed algorithm. The results show that the IABC-FCM algorithm could be applicable in classifying the rock joint sets.

국립공원 재계획 기준과 방법의 적절성 분석 (Analyze the Suitability on the Criteria and Methods of National Park Re-planning, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 국립공원 재계획중 타당성조사 기준과 방법의 적절성 분석을 목적으로 하였다. 가야산국립공원, 설악산과 주왕산국립공원은 절대평가(제2차) 방법이 상대평가(제3차) 보다 '해제 대상'이 낮은 비율로 도출되었다. 제3차 평가방법이 해제가능지역 10%라는 비율을 정해놓고 해제보다는 존치를 통한 공원면적 유지를 지향한 방법임에도 절대평가방법이 결코 해제가능 지역을 더 많이 추출하지는 않았다. 연구대상지에 제2차와 제3차 생태기반평가를 적용했을 때 2011년 실제 해제지역이 나타나는지를 분석한 결과 제2차, 제3차 생태기반평가 모두 해제지역을 반영하지 못했다. 생태기반평가는 해제지역을 결정하는 중요한 의사결정 수단이 아닌 보조수단일 뿐이었다. 공원계획 타당성조사의 구역조정 중 해제는 외적 요소인 상호교환, 해제기준의 우선적용 등이 더욱 중요하게 작용함을 알 수 있었다.

1차원 구조를 가지는 육티탄산 나트륨의 염료감응형 태양전지 음극재 사용 가능성 평가 (Feasibility Test of One-Dimensional Sodium Hexatitanate as an Anode Material in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells)

  • Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), which is one of the contending renewable energy sources, have the problem of low efficiency. To improve the efficiency, the fast electron transport and long electron lifetime are required. In this study, one-dimensional sodium hexatitanate, which is expected to have an advantageous structure for electron transports, was synthesized and the feasibility of the material on DSSC was tested. Its physical properties were characterized by the SEM, XRD, and BET method. The dye adsorption and solar cell properties were also characterized. In addition to the expectation of fast electron transport, sodium hexatitanate showed longer electron lifetime: This means sodium hexatitanate can improve the DSSC efficiency. However, it showed low current and voltage because of the low surface area leading to the low amount of dye adsorbed. Therefore, it should be mixed with titanium oxide with high surface area for the optimal performance.

  • 터보팽창기를 이용한 폐압발전에서 전력생산량과 온도의 산출식의 열역학적 유도과정을 제시하였고, 전력생산량은 압력차가 아니라 압력비가 주요변수임을 밝혔다. 천연가스 폐압발전 인입부의 고압가스는 전기에너지(비용) 투입이 거의 없이 무상으로 얻어지는 에너지라는 사실을 보임으로써, 폐압이 지금까지는 별로 주목받지 못하였지만 새로운 청정에너지원 중의 하나임을 밝혔다. 공급가스 온도 보상을 위한 방법으로 팽창 후의 heating 방식을 택한다면, 전력생산과 더불어 냉열을 이용할 수 있고, 냉열이용량 만큼 heating 에너지를 줄일 수 있으므로 경제성을 배가시킬 수 있다.

  • The objective of this work is not only to perform feasibility studies on the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis for the capillary system design but also to provide an enhanced understanding of the autonomous capillary flow. The capillary flow is evaluated by means of the commercial CFD software of FLUENT, which includes the VOF (volume-of-fluid) model for multiphase flow analysis. The effect of wall adhesion at fluid interfaces in contact with rigid boundaries is considered in terms of static contact angle. Feasibility studies are first performed, including mesh-resolution influence on pressure profile, which has a sudden increase at the liquid/gas interface. Then we perform both 2D and 3D simulations and examine the transient nature of the capillary flow. Analytical solutions are also derived for simple cases and compared with numerical results. Through this work, essential information on the capillary system design is brought out. Our efforts and initial success in numerical description of the microfluidic capillary flows enhance the fundamental understanding of the autonomous capillary flow and will eventually pave the road for full-scale, computer-aided design of microfluidic networks.

  • As pointed out in the OECD BEMUSE Program, when a high computation time is taken to obtain the relevant output values of a complex physical model (or code), the number of statistical samples that must be evaluated through it is a critical factor for the sampling-based uncertainty analysis. Two alternative methods have been utilized to avoid the problem associated with the size of these statistical samples: one is based on Wilks' formula, which is based on simple random sampling, and the other is based on the conventional nonlinear regression approach. While both approaches provide a useful means for drawing conclusions on the resultant uncertainty with a limited number of code runs, there are also some unique corresponding limitations. For example, a conclusion based on the Wilks' formula can be highly affected by the sampled values themselves, while the conventional regression approach requires an a priori estimate on the functional forms of a regression model. The main objective of this paper is to assess the feasibility of the ACE-RSM approach as a complementary method to the Wilks' formula and the conventional regression-based uncertainty analysis. This feasibility was assessed through a practical application of the ACE-RSM approach to the LOFT L2-5 LBLOCA PCT uncertainty analysis, which was implemented as a part of the OECD BEMUSE Phase III program.

진동 인텐시티 계측 방법을 이용한 무한보의 손상감지에 관한 기초 연구 (A Feasibility Study on the Damage Detection of Infinite Beams Using the Structural Intensity Measurement Technique)

  • The structural intensities have been applied to understand a source point and the path of vibrational energy flows in interested structures by many researchers. In this paper, a feasibility study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of a damaged beam with a inflicted open crack using the structural intensities. The damaged beam was taken as a continuous system with equivalent bending stiffness and the flexural vibrations were only considered in numerical simulation and experiments. A four(4)-transducer array was used to measure the flexural vibrations of the beam and the structural intensities were estimated by means of cross spectral density method. As a result, the magnitude changes of the structural intensities could be observed in the vicinity of the damage location and a damage index was newly proposed to identify the damage zone. It has been confirmed that the measurement of the structural intensities was simple and effective method to find out the damage zone.

  • Nowadays, As power demand increases gradually, the call for underground transmission system increases. But it is very difficult and high in cost to construct new ducts and/or tunnels for power cables in metropolitan areas. HTS cable has the several useful characteristics such as increased power density, stronger magnetic fields and/or reduced losses. Therefore HTS cable can allow more power to be moved in existing ducts, which means very large economical and environmental benefits. In this paper, we investigate the status of korean power system and underground transmission system. Based on this, the feasibility study on applying HTS cable to korean power system is carried out and then we propose the new power system configuration of metropolitan area with HTS cable. Finally, we can get a conclusion that applying HTS cable to 154kV underground transmission line in metropolitan area such as seoul is very available. In addition, detail applicable cases are investigated; a)replace old conventional cable with HTS cable; b) apply HTS cable to constructing new underground transmission line; c)use HTS cable to resolve overload problem in conventional power system configuration.
